How is the working process with engineers for home building in Ontario?

I am unfamiliar with this process and it feels - though maybe untrue - that one is sort of a hostage to an engineer always in Ontario for how they charge and operate.

I heard they charge per sq ft or so which doesn't make sense. How much work is there truly? What about changes? How to agree or not to those extra costs?

What cards does the home owner hold when dealing with engineers half way through the project if they want to change them or get reasonable prices out of them?

How to deal with their wrong sayings? Yet pay another engineer to give opinions?

What drives the engineers I guess I want to know.

Why no one sells Midea MO1HE-H36B-2A heatpump in Ontario?

I don't think anyone sells it in all of Canada even. For 36k btu, they only sell the MO1SE version which is not the extreme version. But in USA I see it is listed.

Chamberlaine gso makes buzzing noise

I have noticed this week my chamberlaine gdo is making more than the usual noise when opening the garage door. Closing the door is as usual and I think smooth.

I got a paneled door installed with new spring and tracks last year.

Notice the ending of the video and the extea buzzing sound.

I sprayed wd-40 specialist lithium about 8 months ago (at new door install) and again yesterday. Applying this yesterday did not help.

Door was hit with the car couple months ago but no dents and it was easy hit maybe and noise didn't come up then.

What to look for now?

I have an esp-32 connected to chamberlaine and then to HaOS for automation.

Sound comes only from chamberlaine itself. All other noises can be ignored as normal.

*This video has sound*

Thanks.

Is residence at a property for selling a self declaration?

If someone has two properties and wants to sell one, at what point and how does the last year living address get determined? Is it based on drivers license address? Self declaration? Or what?

Is it ok to install a Pam-1 relay to use 800 and 1200 CFM on a single stage Lennox gas furnace + Midea G3 heatpump?

I am looking to install a Midea MO1HE-H36B-2A (if it is available in inventor) and use a Pam-1 relay to tap into the G24M3/100-4 blower for 800 and 1200 CFM for Y1 and Y2 of the heatpump with an Ecobee thermostat.

Is this risky or standard to make a single stage furnace into a dual stage blower for the heatpump to run it more efficiently?

2800 sq feet house.

Why most say don't install heatpump with mid eff furnace

Some techs tell me to change the very well working Lennox Elite g24m3/100-4 gas (80% effecient) furnace to get a heatpump.

They give various reasons.

The furnace supports four blower speeds (yellow, blue, black, red) of 400, 800, 1200, 1600.

So why is pairing an issue? Is this an absolute no no or is it a sale tactic?

If I change from 80% efficiency furnace to 97% efficiency, I may save $30 per year while it costs $3500 maybe to install so pay off is 100 years...

Isn't there a relay to run the blower at 800 or 1200 for the 3 tom heatpump? Isn't that what a 2-stage variable furnace is anyways too?

Isn't any better solution than replacing a good working furnace?

I want to keep hybrid gas / electric and like a heatpump for two reasons: 1- I might use ULO with or without battery OR once furnace dies get a ECM furnace so heatpump is future ready.

Why HVAC contractors talk to homeowners like they know nothing?

One can know a thing or more in any field without being a professional. It might be limited but can have some knowledge.

The hvac contractors are particularly full of it. They give a lot of wrong info and keep saying trust me. What is the issue? Does the industry attract a certain psyche of people or is the competition too harsh?

Is Kepler AZPN exactly same as Midea DLCR?

I am told that Kepler is same Midea but cheaper because of no marketing.

Is the Kepler AZPN exactly same equipment as Midea DLCR? Or is a R454b kepler same as EvoX G3?

I am amazed at the price difference.

All in one energy transfer systems for water, heating, cooling?

I have two questions:

1- Are there any all-in-one systems that does the energy transfer and conversions for heat, cool, and water in a residence so that no heat is dispensed outside and is used to warm the house or the water?

2- If there is a gas furnace, heatpump, and gas water tank, is there a way to direct the heat from home (when cooling it) to the water tank to warm the water? Or to take the gas furnace exhaust heat to warm the water. Or to take the very cold water city and make it lukewarm and capture its coolness to cool the house? (not looking for water cooled AC that disposes wastes water)

Looking more for shrouds and add-on accessories that can combine these systems together.

Trying to get a heatpump and most push for new furnace while giving false info that my current Lennox Elite mid efficiency won't work with heatpump.

I did the math and saved 10 to 15% on gas and the capital cost of buying a new furnace doesn't make money sense.

I rather buy a modulating furnace when this dies.

Show me where I am wrong.

I am looking for the three cheapest possible options for vold climate heatpump and modulating furnace (80k btu).

What brands and what prices are available for Ontario (Toronto)?

This is Lennox Elite G24M3/100-4 which is 4 ton so blowing is 1600 CFM and main duct is 8x18" and air return is 8x20". House built in 1960s. Maybe ducts were updated but not sure.

How is this system no whistling (only litttle expansion noises sometimes) and how is this duct size ok for this gas furnace?

Current code requires 12x22" I think.

I am getting a heatpump (replacing old water cooled AC). What to watch for before and at time of install for a new air source heatpump and possibly a gas furnace? I have a mid efficiency furnace so I may not change it but if I do, I would like to know what to look for that as well?

I want to make sure contractors do not cut corners and do a good job but have no idea what to look for. What are some of the things they cut corners with or do bad job of that is very bad for life span of the unit and efficiency or safety?

What questions should I ask before hiring a contractor?
