I still don’t feel normal at 7 weeks postpartum

I’m 7 weeks postpartum and I thought I’d feel much more like myself by now but I don’t. I had a long induction which resulted in a c section. I had a superficial opening of my scar, and it’s been infected twice now. I’m pumping around the clock. I am barely sleeping. I’m soooo hungry bc of pumping but I barely have energy to make myself a meal. Sometimes I’ll be so hungry that I can’t sleep even though I’m so exhausted. On top of becoming a new mom and taking care of a newborn, my anxiety is sky rocket high. I recently started feeling dizzy too. Oh and also- I got my period back 6 weeks postpartum. I don’t recognize myself or my body’s I love my baby so much and this has nothing to do with him but oh my god this is so hard. I got cleared from my doctor last week and I feel almost confused because I don’t feel cleared at all.

Incision keeps getting infected

ok so quick backstory — had an emergency c section, incision had a superficial opening, got cultured, came back w a mild same superficial opening still hasn’t closed.

here’s where i’m losing my mind: every single doctor has told me something different about how to actually take care of this thing while it heals

doctor 1: don’t clean it at all, let it air out
doctor 2: clean it every day with hydrogen peroxide
random googling: peroxide is bad for healing tissue and you should use saline + cover it??

so which is it??? bc clearly whatever combo i’ve been doing isn’t working since it’s reinfected TWICE now

anyone else deal with a c section incision that wouldn’t fully close/kept getting reinfected? what actually worked for you — cover it, leave it open, saline, peroxice, none of the above? did it eventually just… close on its own or did it need more intervention (wound care referral, silver nitrate, whatever)? trying to figure out if this is normal “these things take time” stuff or if i should be pushing harder for a wound care specialist instead of just more antibiotics

Has anyone here eventually nursed from the boob?

I’m honestly only exclussively pumping because my baby does like the boob & prefers a bottle. He’s 7 weeks. His mouth is small, my nipples are massive. I’m aware that may never change… but staying hopeful lol.

Can I use the nuna swiv for a newborn?

Basically the title! My baby has the car seat attachment but does not like it for walks. The swiv doesn’t go all the way back; but I’m wondering if it’s fine for a 2 month old?

Too scared to go out solo with baby

My baby’s almost 7 weeks and i haven’t went out solo besides a walk around the neighborhood. I have a doctors appointment next week and my anxiety is so bad about going with my baby that I’m thinking of canceling.. I know I shouldn’t but my brain is trying to find every reason not to go. I don’t know what to do.

How do I stop being scared of my baby crying in public?

I’m a first time mom & im so anxious to go out with my 6 week old unless it’s with dad too. I’m so nervous he’ll cry, fuss whatever. I cannot stay home anymore and I keep talking myself out of going out. I keep saying oh he needs his naps inside in his bassinet etc etc, but I need sunshine and I need to leave the house. Why am I so afraid of him crying in public?.. I need advice.

When does it get fun?

My baby is 6 weeks old and I swear all we do is feed, eat sleep poop repeat. He doesn’t really love the car seat and I feel like the world stresses him out. So we spend alot of time at home but I’m miserable staying here everyday. It’s by the time he’s up, he wants food, he stays awake for a diaper change & I’ll try to engage him with some toys. But then he’s ready for bed immediately.

When will this get more fun?

When did you get your period back postpartum?

So I’m 6 weeks postpartum and I think my periods here unfortunately. I thought if you breastfeed your period takes longer? But then I looked it up and it said they exclusively pumping is different than nursing from the breast. Wondering if it actually matters and curious to know if your periods came if you exclusively pump? If so, when?

Postpartum bleeding came back - 6 weeks?

I’m almost 6 weeks postpartum & I thought I was done bleeding. The other day, I got like purple/ black discharge- now there is bright red blood. I’m exclusively pumping, and I’m wondering if this is normal? Is this my period? I I have to wear a pad right now & it’s not an insane amount of blood but it’s definitely bright. I’m so confused. I don’t have cramps, which usually I do with my period.
Has this happened to anyone?

Do you follow wake windows?

I try, but I swear my baby just won’t sleep sometimes. He has times where he just refuses a nap even though he’s tired now I’m stressing that his wake window is over. Wondering if I’m stressing too much about this?

My husband is on paternity leave and just called me an asshole because I’m upset he wants to spend 6-7 hours at an “optional” work golf event

I’m 4 weeks postpartum from an emergency c-section, exclusively pumping around the clock, and I have zero family nearby. My husband has been on leave since I gave birth. He just told me about an optional work golf event — 6-7 hours long — and when I said I was upset about it, he kept saying “it’s for work.” Yes, but you’re on leave right now. That’s the whole point of leave.

He’s been genuinely helpful with a lot of things, I’ll give him that. But my supply has started dipping because I physically don’t have time to pump as often as I used to, and I’m running on empty. He tells me to “wake him up” if I need help at night, but I never do — I don’t even know why. He sleeps right next to me. He should be able to tell when I’m up with the baby.

We’ve been together 10 years, and until recently our marriage has been genuinely loving and easy. Lately I’m seeing a side of him I’ve never seen before. Yes I was snappy and rude at him first and told him I feel like he doesn’t do enough. Granted, I’m probably wrong about that but also I’m TOUCHED OUT right now and absolutely exhausted and he keeps comparing everything to himself. Like he thinks me and him are both doing equal efforts right now.

He also says my supply dipping is my fault bc I could pump more. I literally barely have time to eat. Pumping 4 times a day and once at midnight for 45 minutes is insane. He keeps saying I need to “ ask him for help”

Tonight, after I said I was upset about the golf thing, he called me an “asshole” and a “bitch,” said “one day our son will know how much of a bitch his mom is,” and told me “fuck you” — multiple times. He’s also started using our son almost like a weapon in arguments, saying things like “HE’S MY SON” when I’m not even contesting that.

I think I might also be dealing with some level of postpartum depression on top of all this.

I feel like my husbands life hasn’t changed at all since having a baby

Idk what’s going on & idk if it’s the hormones or what. My husbands incredibly helpful but it drives me insane that he can go play golf for HOURS and I’m here with the baby too scared to go on a car ride alone.

I don’t know why. He encourages me to go out, but it’s not the same. I go maybe to the store and back alone sometimes. I’m constantly thinking of our son, pumping, etc. I feel like I never get a break. I plan everything around my pumps and I do basically all the night shifts and all shifts. He brings me food, and mostly takes care of me. My husbands on leave and while he’s helpful, I am still absolutely exhausted and feel so alone.

He’s going back to work soon and I’m so afraid of being alone with the baby. It makes me mad that he can just go out, take breaks, live life like nothing changed. Someone give it to me straight is this unfair to him or is this just the reality of motherhood?

How do I get over my fear of taking newborn out

I’m one month postpartum and all we’ve done is taken walks around the neighborhood. The weather is so nice where I am and I’m dying to go to a mall or something. I’m so scared though. Everyday is unpredictable. I’m scared he’ll cry, be fussy, poop or throw up somewhere. How do I get over my fear? He’s only 4 weeks so maybe I’ll wait a little but damn do I want to take him out!

How long does your newborn nap during the day?

Mine will occasionally throw in a 4 hour nap during the day and although that sounds great it terrifies me that he’ll be up at night lol. He passed his birth weight… would you wake your baby up?

1 month into this & no clue what I’m doing

Wow as a FTM I can’t believe I haven’t “ learned” my baby yet. Sometimes I genuinely, GENUINELY have 0 clue what I’m doing. It makes me upset bc I thought I’d know by now and be able to read my baby. Every day is so different. One day could be rough asf, the next day is easier. I just don’t know what he wants sometimes. One day he hates the swaddle, the next day he likes it. It’s like my entire life is a blur right now. I feel guilty because it feels like all I do is just trial and error all day and I’m not like living life with this baby. He fights sleep so much. I don’t know. Then I go on social media and people are taking their newborns out from like day one and have a routine. We have 0 routine and everyday is pure survival.

I thought I’d know by now, but I really don’t. Does this ever get better?

Does anyone else’s newborn fight naps?

I swear my baby makes no sense bc he’s so tired and he just won’t sleep. He’s 4 weeks old. I’ve tried everything and it’s a daily battle just trying to get him to go down for a nap. I swear my entire day is spent trying to get him down for a nap. He fights it so much! He’s fed changed burped swaddled etc. I’ve tried contact naps, swings, strollers etc. he just doesn’t nap good. Idk what else to do I’m so tired. His eyes are so awake and he’s so alert. Any tip?

Should I tell my doctor about my PPD

I’m a first time mom & my baby is 4 weeks old. Recently, some dark cloud has come over me and I genuinely am having horrible thoughts about myself. I love my baby and it makes me feel horrible like he deserves a better mom than me. I have had, really REALLY dark thoughts about my life and I’m having them more and more daily. Especially on the days where baby isn’t sleeping well, it’s heightened. Something flipped like a switch in me the other day and I genuinely feel depressed. I keep thinking how I want to go in the car, drive away and never come back here. On top of other horrible things about my life. I also keep thinking I made a horrible mistake. My life was so perfect before this. I had all the freedom sleep and time in the world. I worked so hard for that freedom and now it’s completely gone. This is so unlike me. I’m aware this might be some kind of depression possibly. I’m worried to tell my doctor because I don’t want her to take my baby away. I love my son and it’s not even about him, it’s about my life changing so drastically and I can never go back. My son needs a happy mom. Is it worth it to go on antidepressants?

I miss the person I was before I had a baby

I’m 4 weeks postpartum as a first time mom. I had a rough pregnancy, unintentionally gained 50 lbs. I then had an emergency c section, now my belly hangs over my scar. I’m still healing, exhausted, and feel so ugly. I know that’s harsh, but I do. My husband took a photo of my baby and I yesterday and I just want to delete it bc of how awful I look. My body looks so bad and so does my face. My hair too. Everything. I barely have time to shower sometimes. Let alone sit there and do my makeup, which is what I used to love doing. My boobs have turned into big saggy melons. My stomach is stretched. My eyes look so heavy and dark. I can’t believe this is what I look now .
