Is it even worth chasing restaurant orders over grocery pings now?

Feels like half my pings lately are grocery orders instead of normal takeaway runs. I’ve got a bit of a love/hate relationship with them honestly. Carrying heavy bags full of milk and water bottles is rough, but at least supermarket pickups are usually ready straight away instead of standing around waiting 20 minutes in restaurants. What are people finding better lately for hourly earnings, grocery hubs or normal restaurant orders?

Interesting appointment with Luis Medina becoming Head of the National League Trust

The National League Trust have announced Luis Medina as their new Head of Trust after years working around the EFL setup. Could end up being quite an important role considering how much community funding and local projects matter for clubs lower down the pyramid now. It will be interesting to see whether the Trust changes direction much over the next few years under new leadership.

Anyone else do the "side quest" at the top of the Devil's Staircase?

When you finally slog your way up to the top of the Devil's Staircase, it’s so tempting to just push straight down into Kinlochleven. But if you take the small path up towards the peak at Stob Mhic Mhartuin, the panoramic views of Glencoe are absolutely unreal and easily some of the best on the entire route. If the weather is clear when you get up there, it is 100% worth the extra detour!

Thoughts on the referendum result to leave the NUS?

Just saw the official announcement from the SU that the referendum passed the voting threshold and UCL has officially voted to leave NUS UK. Interested how people think this will actually affect students day-to-day, or whether most people voted because they felt the NUS wasn’t offering much value anyway. Do you think focusing more on internal UCL issues is the right move, or are we going to lose an important national student voice?

Now the official 2026/27 allocations are out, who got the worst of the travel mileage?

Now that the FA has officially confirmed the new allocations, next season’s setup is looking really interesting already. With Barrow and Harrogate Town dropping out of League Two, plus clubs like Brackley and Morecambe ending up in the North, there are going to be some serious midweek journeys across the divisions next season. Which fanbases do you reckon have been hit hardest travel-wise this year?

When did the standard local in Zone 2 start charging airport prices?

Was in a basic pub in Bermondsey yesterday and got charged £7.20 for a normal lager. Not even a craft beer or anything fancy, just a standard pint. I know London prices are getting ridiculous now, but £7+ for a normal local feels mad. Are sub-£6 pints officially extinct in Zone 2 or am I just going to the wrong places? If anyone still knows decent spots that haven’t completely lost the plot, drop recommendations.

Oliver Whatmuff looks way too good for this level already

Watching such a young keeper look that calm in massive games has been ridiculous this season. He genuinely doesn’t look like someone who’ll be around National League level for very long. Feels like every year there’s one loan player where you can immediately tell they’re heading much higher up the pyramid soon enough. Who’s the best loan player you’ve seen at your club recently where you just knew they were destined for bigger things?

Does anyone else think modern Lamborghinis are starting to look a bit too sci-fi?

Just saw the latest Lamborghini reveal and I genuinely can’t decide whether it looks amazing or completely over the top. Part of me loves how aggressive modern Lambos look, but another part misses when they still felt slightly grounded as actual cars instead of full-on spaceship concepts. The Y-shaped lights, massive rear ends and fighter-jet interiors definitely stand out, but I’m not sure if they’re aging as well as older Lambos already.

My electric shower has gone from power wash to drip overnight. Any ideas?

I’ve got a Mira Sport that’s been working fine for years, but the pressure has suddenly dropped through the floor. The "low pressure" light isn't coming on and the kitchen tap seems completely normal, so I'm a bit stumped. Could this just be a suddenly scaled-up filter or showerhead, or is the internal pump likely on its way out? I'll obviously be isolating the power and water before I poke around inside, but I'd appreciate any advice on what to check first before I start taking the cover off.

The one thing you wish you’d left out of your pack?

I’m doing my final weigh-in for a start soon and I’m definitely over my target weight. For those who have finished recently or are currently mid-trail, what is the one piece of "just in case" gear you’ve carried but haven't touched? I’m currently eyeing up my spare camp shoes and wondering if the extra weight is actually worth it for the evenings. Would love to hear what you’ve ditched (or wish you had) to save those precious grams!

Found this older photo and honestly it’s weird seeing this part of campus looking this calm.

I’ve had my Artex tested and it’s come back as 1% Chrysotile. I’m planning on scraping it back using the wet method after applying a gel stripper to keep the dust down. Even keeping it damp throughout, would people still recommend hiring a Type H vacuum for the clean-up stage, or is that generally considered excessive for a small bedroom? Just trying to understand what’s considered best practice in this situation.

Every live clip I watch just looks absolutely insane in the best possible way. The lights, the energy, the crowd, it never feels like people are just watching a concert, it feels more like complete chaos and everyone’s fully locked into it together. What was the first Prodigy show you ever went to, and did it actually live up to the stories people tell about their live sets?

Is the MK1 still the best-looking Astra? This 1983 example makes a strong case.

Spotted this 1983 Astra at a car event and couldn’t stop looking at it. Feels weirdly refreshing seeing a car without massive screens and aggressive styling everywhere. Would you still daily-drive something like this now?

106 points and still ending up in the playoffs is brutal

Rochdale finishing on 106 points and still missing automatic promotion honestly says everything about how difficult the National League has become now. Personally, I think seasons like this make it hard to argue against adding another automatic promotion place. Getting over 100 points should normally mean you’ve done enough to go up. At the same time, the playoff drama is probably part of what makes the league so entertaining for neutrals. Tough one to balance really.

I’ve noticed more technical and management roles asking for portfolios, case studies, or take-home tasks before candidates even get a proper conversation. But what actually becomes the tie-breaker now? I’ve seen people with average portfolios get hired because they interviewed really well, while others with impressive work struggled face-to-face. What matters more to you these days, the portfolio or the interview?

I’ve been looking at the EMI changes that kicked in last month and the new thresholds are huge. Jumping to a £120m asset cap and a 500-employee limit feels like a massive win for scaling. Is this actually helping anyone pull senior devs away from big tech, or are people still just holding out for more cash? Also, has anyone tried extending their existing options to the new 15-year limit yet? Would love to hear how others are approaching it.

I’m seeing roles that ask for quite specialised experience and high responsibility, but the offers coming back are barely above entry level. Also had an informal chat where the salary ended up about 20% lower than what was initially mentioned. For recruiters, is this more about budget constraints or expectations not lining up? And those who are candidates, how do you push back on this without risking being dropped from the process?
