People Paid for This Dumb Idea

About 8 months ago I built this app that's actually doing decent.

My first app idea literally came from remembering a viral X post about turning drawings into YouTube thumbnails with AI.

I searched the App Store. Nothing.

Looked on the web and found a the websites but nothing for mobile.

So I just copied the concept and built it into an app.

The app is now live on the App Store and recently crossed $1,100 in total sales.

A few stats:

  • $1,000+ in sales
  • $130 MRR
  • $860+ in proceeds
  • iOS Only

Most of the growth came from ASO and organic tiktok/youtube shorts videos. I haven't really explored influencers, affiliate programs, ASO optimization, or creator partnerships yet.

The biggest surprise was that building the app was actually easier than I expected. Getting people to consistently discover it is the hard part.

The code isn't perfect. The design isn't perfect. The marketing definitely isn't perfect.

Still a long way from life changing money, but seeing strangers spend money on what originally felt like a pretty dumb idea was a cool milestone.

Curious to hear from others here:

What surprised you most after launching your first app?

I use Gemini's NanoBano to generate the images and it costs me around $30/month

HELP finding symphony

I need help finding a symphony I’ve been searching for 3+ months.

The piece is avant garde sounding, it’s not the traditionally pleasing sound of a symphony.

No singing. The most memorable part is a build op string instruments that sounds like a swarm buzzing bees (chaotically). It builds this chaos to its peak but then you suddenly hear a beautiful harmony amongst the buzzing and that slowly overcomes the chaotic buzzing until it’s a blissful and euphoric symphony.

The closes example I can give is Krzysztof Penderecki’s - Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima. But his doesn’t have the beautiful harmony.

It is not.

Flight of the Bumblebee Bee
Sostenuto Tranquillo Ma Cantabile
Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima (1960)’ by Krzysztof Penderecki

All I remember is that is on YouTube & I think live.

Any song suggestions or ideas would be amazing!

HELP finding symphony (4+ month search)

Selling My App with $1,000+ Sales

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to sell my mobile app.

Quick Overview

  • Revenue: $1,000+ in sales
  • Proceeds: $860+
  • Launch Date: October 2025
  • Operational Costs: ~$30/month
  • Platform: iOS

About the App

This is a subscription-based mobile application in the AI creator tools space. The product is live, monetized, and fully operational.

The app is already built and requires very little maintenance. Most of the remaining opportunity lies in growth, distribution, and marketing rather than development.

Growth Opportunity

The app has grown primarily through organic promotion with very limited marketing efforts. I did $100 behind my best organic videos and March hit a $164 high. That's it.

Several growth channels remain largely untapped:

  • Influencer partnerships
  • UGC campaigns
  • ASO optimization
  • Affiliate programs
  • Creator partnerships

Maintenance

The app is stable and requires minimal ongoing maintenance. Most time spent on the business goes toward marketing and growth initiatives rather than development.

Target Market

  • Content creators
  • Social media marketers
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Small businesses
  • Productivity-focused users

Tech Stack

Mobile App

  • iOS
  • React Native

Backend

  • Supabase

Reason for Selling

I've spent the last 8 months building and growing this product into a stable, monetized app.

I genuinely believe the app can go much further with someone who has more capital, marketing experience, or an existing audience to scale it.

Asking Price

$2,000 or Best Offer

$200 on UGC Creators or Paid Promotions?

Should I put $200 in paid ads or moving to UGC creator videos?

I’m finally putting some money behind my app and was wondering if I should pay for UGC or paid promotions on the faceless organic videos I have.

I’ve grew my titkotk & YouTube shorts account from around 100 views per vid to around 300 - 800+ views per vid. However, I feel like the consensus is that actual faces with real people using / explaining the app performs better.

My app makes around $120 MRR, it’s 8 months old, & I’m trying to increase mrr to eventually sell. Any advice would help! Thanks.

Chaotic Buzzy Violin Symphony

Hey guys! Been trying to find this song for 3+ months but no luck.

It’s a symphony that’s mainly string instruments, I saw it on YouTube, and it didn’t feel traditional.

The build up sounds like a slow buzzing. It gets stronger AND slightly more chaotic as it goes on until eventually it sounds like swarming bees. However it doesn instantly switch to a nice harmony. You suddenly hear a nice harmony amongst the buzzing and that slowly becomes strong until it’s a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing sound.

My ex said “it’d be good for a drug scene in a film”

Is this a bad idea to text my ex?

I do not want to get back with her. I want a song!

Me (26m) and my ex (23fm) broke up 7 months ago, and went no contact 4 months ago. It was a 2 year relationship. In a nutshell she broke up with me because… “it’s not you, it’s me” & “we’re in different places” I tried rekindling multiple times but was shutdown.

It was my first relationship & the best experience ever. 10/10 would recommend love.

HOWEVER, here’s the current situation*** ***I’m making a film project and I’ve spent the last 3 MONTHS looking for this symphony piece she showed me in our relationship. I’ve typed every combination of words on YouTube and google looking for it. No luck.

Is it morally wrong to reach out (or break no contact)? The last few times I broke no contact, I felt like I was breaking a boundary she had set. So I stopped, but idk if it would be wrong to reach out for this?

Roast or Praise? My New Screenshots

After 8 Months, I'm A-B Testing my screenshots for the first time. Any advice or constructive criticism would be great!

I've honestly been scared to change anything because this has been my first app that generates MRR. However, I've decided ima double down & try to increase my impressions over the next few months.

For context, the apps function is generating AI Thumbnails for Youtubers. I just pushed an update to let users change the ratio so you can do banners, shorts, or even app icons as well.

Thanks!

NC: Good Time to Surf?

Hey guys! I’m determined on learning surfing this summer & was wondering what months are the best to surf?

I’ve been eyeing Surfline for 1-2ft waves with under 10mph winds for my first surf session, but the constituency is always 0ish on the app?

Should I just got out even if it says 0 consistency?
Any advice would help :) really just want to get reps in and start learning
