Legs feeling like lead like walking through ( can't think of right word!)

I am recently diagnosed w PSA not started on meds yet as in UK and waiting for NHS appointment.

One thing I forgot to mention is some days , not very often but occasionally I wake up with legs that feel heavy and when I walk it's like wading through er sludge can't think of a better description! It usually lasts a couple of days and is accompanied by a bit of a flues feeling but not " proper " flu and I feel drained of energy.

Does this sound like it could be another symptom of PSA? I have the joint and finger / toe swelling etc but only just considered this could be related. Thankyou in advance

Do you ever see strangers and think I probably will never in my life see them again?

Just asked my family and they don't understand what I mean .it could happen anywhere on the street, in a shop , in a park anywhere someone walks past and I think I probably won't ever see you again in my life .Hard to explain but sort of their lives will go on all the ups and downs, relationships and jobs .It's kind of like the vastness of it all

Anyone understand what I mean?

Sorry if silly question but can you be numbed up for the op any other way apart from spinal block ?

I am concerned spinal block may be difficult as I have alot of metal work in my back fro spinal surgery .Can you be numbed up by any other method? My mum's spinal block was abandoned as they couldn't get the injection in the right place ( put down to her being an older person) so they ended up doing a general and I don't really want that .Thankyou

Why don't I ever laugh out loud like other people do?

At a comedy gig recently everyone around me was laughing out loud but I never do .It's not because I am miserable but I sort of laugh inside if anyone can understand what I mean. Not guffaw but like small ripples of laughter inside .I remember I laughed out loud years ago but for some reason I don't now .

My mother was diagnosed wuth with musical ear how is this even possible?

My mother has passed away now but for several years before her death she had a condition called musical ear .She was partially deaf all her life and without her hearing aids couldn't hear at all .However especially in the evenings and late at night she would hear music as clear as if it was playing in the same room .She was convinced it was her neighbour playing music and even went round to ask him to turn it down but he denied he was playing any music at all

It was only one evening when my brother went to visit she heard the music and my brother couldn't hear a thing .After seeing GP and then a hospital appointment it was diagnosed as musical earb. Its not a psychological problem she really heard music that wasn't there .It's Neurological and apparently happens to older people who have hearing problems. There are certain tunes that most say they hear including Happy Birthday sing and our National Anthem .I can't understand how this can be that they hear music that's not real and even certain tunes are most common. Sounds really strange to me Does anyone know anything about it?

6 months of April

I have come to the conclusion in my part of England ( up North) that counting up all the hot and very warm days we have around 2 months of them .Counting up the really cold days of heavy rain / snow /sleet we have around 2 months .Dark_ grey , dreary days we have around 2 months. The other 6 months is what I consider April days of sunshine and showers where the temperature is cool but your not going to freeze or burn .

Sweat stop

Hi following the surgery to stop my hands sweating I have horrendous compensatory sweating. This product I use on my back and is the only thing so far that has helped. I am in the UK and it's manufactured here so unsure on availability elsewhere. There's a selection of these antiperspirants to choose from depending on which body part you want to use it on .I need it on most body parts but just use this back one .I recommend anyone to give it a try .I use it for 4 nights then it helps my back for around a week and sweating comes back gradually. Sweat stop sell clothing and other things connected to hyperhydrosis. I have no connection to the company whatsoever just buy a few bottles for the spring and summer months .Hope it helps someone.

Do you think the time will come when there's no social media?

It seems impossible to imagine now but do you think that over the next 30 years or so social media may no longer exist? Will there come a point where it will be looked back on as something which was a massive mistake? Sounds unbelievable now but I look back on days where for example people smoked everywhere even in hospitals there was an an tray placed beside every bed !If such a thing happened today it would be classed as shocking. Maybe all the damage caused from social media will be classed as just as shocking in years to come .

Things I found out today that I didn't realise were connected to psoriatic arthritis

My cataracts in both eyes so bad I had to have the cataract surgery to remove them .My toenails growing sideways and looped over .My ingrown toenail removal surgery failing so nails grow back very weirdly .The swelling and redness of my eyelid and gritty eyes .My tennis and golfers elbow .Surprising how much psoriatic arthritis affects that isn't obvious.

Methotrexate injection instead of tablets question

Hi I live in the UK and after having a private consultation with a rheumatologist I have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. The rheumatologist has transferred me over to her NHS clinic and told me I will be starting on Methotrexate.

However reading information booklet I was given it mentions possible stomach issues as sides effect. It says NHS will try tablets first before injections if tablets not tolerated .

My question is is it possible on the NHS to start straight on injections instead of the tablets? My concerns are I have a hiatus hernia that causes me high tummy pain at times , I have problems with acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome. Would that be a reasonable enough evidence to skip the tablets? Thankyou

Finally diagnosed aged 70

Hello this morning after many years and surgeries on joints I have finally been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. As I have inflammatory erosive osteoarthritis all my problems were put down to that .I saw an excellent rheumatologist in the UK today privately and got my diagnoses. She is moving me over to her NHS clinic to start ne on Methotrexate. It's taken over 25 years to get here but at last I have been listened to and she could see my red inflamed fingers and psoriasis. She gave me an injection of steroid into my thigh to help me whilst waiting. So my message is if you think something or something else as in my case is wrong never give up. My best wishes to all in the group
