What industries should recent grads look for jobs in?

Tired of getting ghosted by the same entry level process/manufacturing/production/industrial engineer roles. Are there any other industries where one shoild job search? I’ve tried construction, but it seems they prefer civil engineering grads even for roles that have little to no CE in them.

Will chase allow me to deposit another person’s cheque?

My mother would like a cheque of hers deposited. I do have her account number. Would Chase accept it if I provide them with her account #? She is out of country atm.

My mother is out of country and she recently got an insurance payout for her car. Cheque was mailed to our house but she won’t be coming back (and can’t) for the near future. How can it get cashed legally on her behalf?

Do I have to pay this off?

I graduated just recently (Spring ‘26) debt free but owe UB around $600 according to my bill. I keep getting notified regarding it on my UB email.

Thing is, I have both my diploma and my official transcript in my possession, so I’m not really too worried about paying it off because I initially assumed they’d withhold those two until I was able to.

Ruling on speaking to the opposite gender online for marriage

Is this allowed or disallowed? Speaking as in asking basic questions.

I know plenty of scholars disallow it, such as Shaykh Rabee (Rahimahullah). But what’s the general consensus on this issue?

How do you guys fight shrinkage?

I understand it’s natural and meant to happen but is there a way to mitigate it? I love how my hair looks immediately after washing it/wetting it & applying products only for its length to halve once it dries. It’s beyond annoying. What products work for you guys?

Job market for entry level engineers in Chicago/Cook County?

Hey all,

I grew up in Des Plaines up until I was 14 and am now considering a move back to the Chicago area to live with my father. I am 23 and a recent engineering grad (industrial engineering to be specific). What is the job market like for people who want to go into manufacturing or supply chain/logistics, particularly in the city of Chicago itself? Any professional in these fields who could chip in? Thanks in advance!

Salafi masjids in Chicago?

I grew up in the area but haven’t been there since I was 14, and I distinctly remember majority of the masjids in the suburbs that I frequented being Deobandi or Deobandi-affiliated. Now I am considering moving back at 23, are there any Salafi mosques in Chicago of its surrounding areas?

[Progressive] will comprehensive coverage apply?

We have auto insurance with progressive and recently, an individual in my family drove the car on the highway. Suddenly the hood opened up and damaged the hood itself along with the windshield & bumper. Will comprehensive coverage apply? This is my first time ever dealing with insurance, so I’d appreciate some responses. I plan on calling customer service tomorrow.

How competent should one be in skills?

Fresh grad here, school made us use tools like Minitab, ARENA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Excel Solver and some coding languages like R and Python although I wouldn’t call myself an expert in any of them. How competent are entry-level IEs expected to be in these? Obviously, I’d ideally become an expert overtime the more one uses them in industry, but I’m curious.

[09 Highlander] is it normal for this light to be on when car is locked?

It blinks if it’s unlocked and is is plain on when locked? Is that normal?

I’ve been dealing with issues as it pertains to my car alarm as of late (it goes off randomly) and am trying to diagnose it

How’s it like being a package handler?

Recent college grad, looking for some work until I land an actual job in my field (and have enough to buy a car). I applied for a package handler gig at a local UPS facility and got hired after doing the online application process. The description says I’ll be loading and unloading trucks which seems pretty straight forward. Is there anything else I should be aware of prior to starting? (I begin next week). The shift is Mondays thru Saturdays, 3AM to 9AM.

I’ve worked at an Amazon warehouse in the past but of course we weren’t unloading trucks, so I’m just curious as to what I shoild expect.

[2009 Highlander] car alarm keeps going off randomly

My car alarm goes off randomly when the car is out and parked and it’s driving me (and probably my neighbors) nuts. Could there be an issue? I share
the car with a family member. I have keys that omly unlock the car manually while they have the remote programmer, could that be causing an issue?
