Spons is just Caddi's nose

Even when he is there meowing for attention; he'll often go right back there. He also often tries to escape through the front door. I am wondering if it's just curiosity, boredom, or something else. I am also wondering that if I were to get him another as a playmate it would make him less interested in the front door/escaping
