Spitball - Custom designed handwired split w/ trackball

Technically a 59 key, if you count the left most thumb key, though it is a dedicated mouse key.

specs listed below:
Printed using Creality K1 Max & Creality K1
Case/plate - black ASA GF
two nice!nano clones running ZMK
Keycaps - DROP OLKB & a few printed
Switches - Akko lavender v2
Mouse key - choc white v1 neutered (no click)
Trackball sensor - pixart 3610 breakout board
Solid copper wire was 18ga
Silicon wire was 24ga

Designed the board on the “keyboard layout editor - NG” website, then everything else was designed on Fusion360 under the hobby license.

I intend to share the print files on printables when they’re more dialed in - I want to lower the profile by 3-5 mm and add options for tenting. I will share the Repo around the same time.

I have designed and built 20 custom boards, and intend to design more as time allows.

Test set up for a trackball. Using Pixart breakout board.

Looks ghetto, but works as intended. Plan I throwing this into a split keyboard

K1 max - Orca slicer - mesh orientation

I’m adjust the bed level, and I’m kinda making things up as I go in terms of which way is the front according to orca slicer.

My k1 max had leveling knobs on all four corners, but wanted to test my theory, and I did a skip tooth on the front two collars(clockwise), and the slope pictured did not lower what I previously assumed was the front, but rather the left side.

Just need some guidance. Machine is unrooted, and I’m running just basic orca slicer, and I’d prefer to keep it that way if at all possible.

Shungite - 54 Key Ortho

Ortho split I designed to try and be the thinner than my “Reach” board. Was remove a whooping 1.45mm of height, while maintaining a 500mAh battery per half.

Nice!nano clones, choc box whites, 500mAh batteries, 18ga solid copper wire, 28ga silicon insulated wire, Nexpal locking push button switches, case, Plate & keycap material are ABS.

Just waiting on some nice cream ABS filament for my accent pieces on the inner most sides of the boards.

Thanks!

9700 mile lemon - Bad AC

My last post was about the AC not working. And the car passed the threshold for lemon law at 20 days, it’s been almost 50 days since I dropped it off.

Hyundai has been very helpful, along with the dealership, and they have accepted to lemon my vehicle.

They are going to send me a buyback offer next week(hopefully).

The only reason I got this car in lease is because I was so unbelievably upside down on my last vehicle. Thankfully, this will clear that negative equity. Probably won’t get another Hyundai, but I did enjoy the car and miss it already.

Anyone know if Hyundai is going to take me over the coals with their offer?

Thanks!

Big fan of Choc V1 switches, but I always make my own caps. Any decent sets that offer 1.5U thumb keys?

I typically design both the boards and the caps side by side, that way they fit the build perfectly. I have a resin printer along with my FDM printer. But I’m just not feeling like designing a full set of keycaps.

Designed some custom thumb keys for my custom keyboard

Designed another split keyboard, wanted some ergonomic thumb keys, so hopped into fusion and got sketching.

Printed in ABS, then vapor smoothed with Acetone.

Hedgehog

Very similar to my Phanny build. Added an extra key in the thumb clusters, and moved power button and MCU into the case.

Been struggling with designing KiCad files for another build, decided to take a step back and throw something together to clear my brain.

Nice nano V2 clones
Durock dark amber switches
No idea on keycaps, bought 4 sets that were on sale.
Copper is twisted 24GA
Ethernet wire matrix to MCU

First trim, knocked down the sides a bit.

I think this is 11 months of growth? Just trimmed a little bulk off the sides, didn’t touch the length.

Looking for a cool color

Pic is semi unrelated, but I design and build custom keyboard. I am looking for a cool color that is not light transparent blue, lol. I personally like the transparent colors as you get that cool “ classic gameboy “ sort of vibe. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I intend to print on my Saturn 4 Ultra.

Pic - twisted copper wire(24GA) for the key matrix.

Edit: Added "Not"

Saw someone else post a license plate. Please enjoy mine.

For the record, I would feel like a dirt bag if I actually used it, as I know there are folks with far worse ailments than myself. Walking can be a pain sometimes but I at least have my legs.

However I get better parking at my office, since no one else seems to use the parking in the year since I’ve lived here.

Need ideas on what to do with about 75 flash drives.

Working on backing up a slew of flash drives, and then clearing them. Need something fun to do with them. Our IT guy is a cool dude, so I kinda want to prank him. Not malicious, but something kind of harmless.

Most are 32gb, with a few being 4-16gb, one being 1tb.

Please make these pics a little clearer/better

Good morning! My daughter graduated pre-K and I’d like to have these images cleaned up a little. I’m happy to PayPal a few dollars, thank you so much!

EDIT: I would like the background blurred a bit, brightened overall, and just generally a more professional look.

Welp. I goofed.

After trouble shooting in the very little time have have. I just realized I put all 54 diodes in, incorrectly…thankfully I have spares of everything so I know what I’m doing this weekend. Lol

Mother’s Day gift wrapped up.

Lithophane was created elsewhere (free online tool), but the box was designed by me. I think it turned out pretty sweet.

Handwired 40% for Friday

No idea of the switches as they were yanked from a diner board. Type c pro micro running GMK, 3D printed(PLA+) case, plate and keycaps.

u/SfBattleBeagle — 3 months ago

There are a slew of lithography sites, so finding one shouldn’t be an issue. This was printed laying down, took about 7.5 hours on my K1 with white PLA+.

I prefer through hole diodes, and hotswap sockets. This is gearing up to be a fun build. Render of completed board at the end.
