Are 20 skill trees in 1 game too much?

I'm looking into an upgrade system for my game, and since its about trains and creating a build with different carriages, I was considering giving each individual carriage a small skill tree. This would mean 10-20 different skill trees. I was thinking this could give the player more autonomy and choices with their upgrades rather than just having a single upgrade button for each carriage.

Even though each carriage would be unlocked one by one through their progression, I'm thinking it may overwhelm the player if progression is too fast?

Do you think this could be a good idea to approach upgrade progression differently?

Would you consider my game a tower defense?

I've been marketing my game Exo-Rail as a survivorslike bullet-heaven. But I got some feedback and was told this seems more like a tower defense since the player isn't controlling where the train is going. So I wanted to get some feedback from the towerdefense sub to see if you all would agree.

I'm starting my marketing push and I'm overall just trying to find the right audience. Any help is much appreciated!

My first trailer!

Just finished my first draft of my trailer. This is my first time making a trailer ever, so any feedback is welcome!

Would this be a good trailer for steam page standards?

I made a Train Sci-Fi BulletHeaven - Looking for playtesters

Hey!

I made a demo for my game about building an armored train and defending your base against alien bugs. My goal is to continue building into a steam release, but I've so far had little to no playtesting.

I'm looking for play testers to give it a go and to fill out a 5-min feedback form on the itch page. Any help and feedback is much appreciated!

How much gameplay do you expect in a bullet heaven?

Hey!

I'm currently in the process of making my bullet heaven game, and I wanted to know about how much playtime you expect from a 2d bullet heaven? Let's say for example mine were to be priced at $9.99 USD. Assuming the game itself is engaging and fun, how long would my game need to be to get to the point where you wouldn't complain about how short or how little gameplay is in the game?

And how long would you expect a free demo to be?

Should social accounts be named after the studio or the game?

I'm going into my marketing phase on my first commercial release and I wanted to start making short for content. When it comes to social media promotion, is it best to create accounts named after my studio, or is it best to name it after the game? Or maybe just create two accounts per platform, one for the studio, and one for the game.

What do you all think?

[PAID] Looking for a capsule artist

Hello!

I'm a solo developer working on Exo-Rail, a bullet heaven where the player builds their armored train and defends a mining outpost from swarms of alien bugs.

Check out the game's current art, style vibe here: https://shoobox.itch.io/exo-rail

I'm specifically looking for an artist that can deliver with the full package that's needed for the steam page which includes the 8 different resolution files. But they're all pretty much going to be derived from the master key art. Here's a google slide with more specifics: No AI, with full commercials rights transferred to me.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1YypcYt6R0X6y9JyqS_UQnlbYfJkQEJKSBe2-PbcTXUE/edit?usp=sharing

I have a budget of 350 USD for this project, along with a deadline of around August 16th. I already have an initial concept sketch along with the layout and concept art and examples I like in the google slide. I'll pay about 150 after I'm given an initial sketch of the layout and then 200 once I've received all the finished files.

If you're interested, comment below with your portfolio along with any questions. I will not respond to PM requests. I'll reach out to artists whose style is a good fit.

Looking for Feedback on Bullet-Heaven TD Prototype

Hello

I just finished up my prototype after a few months of development, and I was looking to get some feedback on it. It's a bullet heaven / tower defense where you add armored carriages to your train to fight off alien swarms.

I'm trying to see if it’s fun to begin with and whether to sink more time into development. But I've already achieved the game's visual identity and its core loop.

Feel free to check it out on itch. I have a quick google form for feedback in the itch comments, but I also read all my comments here, so whatever's easiest for you.

Looking for Feedback on my Bullet-Heaven / TD Prototype

https://reddit.com/link/1v9k6jj/video/b9a21uek63gh1/player

I just finished up with a prototype of my bullet heaven / train builder. I was looking to see if it’s fun to begin with and whether to sink more time and money into its development. As of now, the game has reached its visual identity and its core gameplay loop. Keep in mind it's just a prototype, so there’s no save system and not too much content.

The UI still needs work and readability, but here’s some instructions in case the UI isn’t very readable at this stage:
In the menu, click on a planet to select it, then clock in.
Press F to toggle abilities and Q,E to cycle through them. Then click to place ability.
Press tab to access inventory. Press the “?” for more instructions.

Feel free to leave feedback comments here, or on the itch page. I also have a google form in the itch comments if you’d prefer to do that. Thanks in advance!
