How many of you are seeing classmates be careless with their grade?

For background, I’m in my second year of prerequisites after transferring from studying environmental law for three years at a university. I was able to bypass almost a year because of transfer credits. Pivoting from environmental studies to nursing has been interesting. Environmental students are much different than pre-nursing from what I’ve been experiencing.

My school just wrapped up week three of classes. I’m currently taking chemistry 121. I’ve always been a good student, stayed after class to talk to professors, and have good relationships with them. I’ve been left completely shocked and jaw dropped by the way some of my classmates have behaved towards my professor and how they act in class or have a lack of care for their school work.

Week one we were instructed to pick up a packet and do the problems and watch a video, before coming to class. Several students did not do it, and all but one had no reason why. Week two we had a quiz in class, and per every week now, we must come to class prepared with our packet and having watched the video. My professor comes to each of us every class and looks at our packet. People still aren’t doing it or watching the videos, and I know this because my professor can see how much of and when people watch them. She has asked several students why they aren’t doing this. Their answers are always “I’m not sure or didn’t have time.”

Last week we were told several times, with multiple announcements, to bring our laptops or rent one from the school before coming to class. You can probably guess it, people did not show up with them. My professor was dumbfounded. She asked why they didn’t have them and the answers were “I didn’t think about it” or “I’m not sure.” Luckily she was able to work something out and these students had access to a computer. However, one girl couldn’t figure out how to get into our school portal/canvas. Ya’ll….we have to log into this stuff all the time as students because of security reasons. This girl was getting extremely frustrated with our professor and was being rude. My professor finally got annoyed and said “I don’t know how to help you, I’m not the one who knows your password and I’m not sure how you don’t know it or have it written down anywhere.” She asked my classmate how she was possibly able to get into canvas to do her homework if she “didn’t know her password.” While class was wrapping up, this same girl started actively bashing our professor for how she reached the class and that she wasn’t fair and her teaching style was shit. I was taken back because our professor is literally in class with us.

For our lab, same as class, we are instructed to come to class having done a pre-lab quiz and go over the lab papers highlighting specific things. Take a wild guess, people aren’t doing either. My professor said from day one and before, that she would ask students to leave if they did not have these things done. I think because of how many people aren’t doing them, she’s been lenient and allowing them to stay. Last week a girl didn’t show up with even the pre-lab quiz done, and my professor said she needed to stay after class and do it. The girl argued with her and said she had other things to do and she would do it at home. My professor was very stern and said that wasn’t possible and that she needed to do it that day with her. She girl kept arguing until my professor made her point clear. Several other girls have argued with my professor as to why they haven’t done the work. My professor ended up sending out an email at the beginning of this week letting us know she will start actively dismissing people from class for this.

I’m honestly just curious to see if this is the norm now. Most of us in this class are going for nursing or radiology programs. The school we’re at is the most competitive cc nursing program in my entire state. I’m just confused as to how so many of my classmates don’t care or think it’s not a big deal to just not do the work or possibly get a bad grade.

Back at it with the doughnuts

Third review, third flavor. My local Safeway now only has blueberry:( Really not a fan of this one. Consistency is still there, flavor is just not it. Tastes very off, but has that blueberry taste. To be fair, I am not a blueberry lover, so take this with a grain of salt. Someone asked for a size comparison, I have one in my hand and my 16mo hand. Really sad this one was such a huge letdown. Hoping to find chocolate soon. Someone mentioned them being in 7/11, turns out, the nearest one to me is an hour away. Go figure!

While I did not love them, my little boy stole one for himself and then came back for the one I was struggling to eat. He too does not like blueberries so I’m honestly shocked. But what kid won’t say no to a doughnut!

Back with more low cal doughnuts

I rated the strawberry flavor recently. Saw this flavor today and had to snag it. The fact that they’re vanilla flavored but very brown kind of caught me off guard! I like them! The consistency is still spot on. Pretty solid for the calories. Once again I didn’t save any for my husband, sadly. I think I like this flavor better than the strawberry, but I’m kind of torn.

Anyone tried the blueberry kind? My local Safeway has a LOT of them and only had a couple vanilla and nothing else.

My little pack of kitties

I love having different options petting wise. All their meows are crazy different too. Really wanting a white one but husband says no…

Drumroll Doughnuts

Saw these at Safeway! Did a double take because I’d never seen them before, and they were also in the vegetable section…? I won’t lie, they have a bit of an interesting taste in the mouth, but they’re really not bad! I just can’t put my finger on the taste. The consistency of them is very pleasing. I think it’s a good little sweet treat for low calories and is good for once in a while in my household.

Anyone tried these before?

Suggestions for my husband who is unfamiliar with Indian food

My husband and I are celebrating our one year wedding anniversary tomorrow. We are planning on going to an Indian restaurant. I grew up eating a lot of this cuisine, but he has only had it twice in his life. I’m looking for something that can be level five spicy but he will still be able to taste the flavor and not just the spice! I love anything paneer or curry based, but that’s not really his vibe so I’m having a hard time suggesting things to him. When he opens the menu he has no idea what to order or what anything is.

Any type of meat is fine. No allergies. He does not like heavy carb meals.

Thank you!

What is the most awkward horror movie to watch with other people?

I grew up in a strict religious household, horror movies beyond something like Signs was not allowed. Fast forward to now, I’ve seen a lot. However, because of this, I can feel really awkward during certain scenes while watching movies with other people.

A couple of years ago I watched the movie Men (2022) with my grandma after we both smoked a joint. Truly, I did not know anything about the movie and I was beyond uncomfortable but she wanted to know how it ended, so we continued on.

Now I wanna hear what movie made you feel awkward and squeamish when watching with others!

197 to 180, January to August

(F, 5’4, 176 in the last pic). Was maintaining until last month. There are no filters, I promise! The top right had a weird lighting issue and my phone kept coming out hazy 😅 I rarely let people take photos of me, so I was shocked when my face was thinner compared to the first pic. I’ve been having a hard time getting past 178/176. Any advice welcome! Currently in a calorie deficit and doing some walking daily.

We thought we had her figured out…

We thought Dane/lab when we adopted her a few months ago. I’ve been getting a lot of greyhound/lab. We go to the dog park every night and these are the breed mixes we constantly are asked if she is. She’s approx 9mo, F, 73lbs, 5’3 when standing up. Extremely fast when running. She out runs 90% of dogs and is very active.

I plan on getting an embark test during Black Friday!

Did running help contribute to your weight loss?

I’m 24F/5’4/180lbs

I’ve been wanting to get into jogging/running, but I feel uncomfortable with knowing people can see me. I think maybe some women can relate to this for some body part specific reasons. I also don’t live in the safest area, but I do have a very scary looking dog.

Just wanted to see if anyone found that running helped them with their weight loss, of course paired with CICO. I’ve been in a bit of a plateau for a bit now, and it’s pushing me finally start. I’ve heard great success from running, but then I’ve also heard you generally have to increase your calories, so I’m kind of confused.

Two months since she came home from the shelter

She is very spoiled and the happiest dog I’ve ever met. Everyone loves her and she is one of the most popular dogs at the dog park. It’s been stressful, I’ve had my patience tested (she’s a puppy), but I’m grateful that I chose her and I think she feels the same way.

Do you get validation through your dog?

For context, I recently adopted a large, fit, young dog. I take her to the dog park very regularly. She is constantly getting praises from other owners and strangers when we go in public. I feel a sense of pride from this. She is a mix of maybe Great Dane/black lab. People who have these expensive purebred dogs are stunned by her. Some have said my cats are pretty or cute, but man it’s something different when another dog owner is telling you your dog is absolutely gorgeous. I’m constantly stopped everywhere I take her and asked what she is. Anyone else feel this? Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but it’s just been very interesting and something I didn’t expect when I adopted a dog.

Staple pants?

Does anyone else have “staple” items that they love to wear over and over? I bought four of these jeans in the same color and I’m glad I did.

New dog, destroys all toys. Help!

Adopted my maybe Great Dane/black lab puppy (7/8 months) a month ago. Having a hard time finding toys she can’t destroy. She is definitely a chewer. I have no history on her as she was a stray. She likes to chew on toys which gives me time to do something without her being in my face, which is usually 24/7. I need something that she can’t destroy and actually will last!! At this point I’m not concerned about cost. She is not super big on bones she can’t actually eat, and she doesn’t care for peanut butter in the cup things (like a kong). She has a Tuffy ring, and is somehow already ripping that apart. She has destroyed multiple stuffed animals. She loved them, but takes out all the stuffing and constantly making a mess. I have a petco near me, and don’t mind ordering anything from Amazon, so anything from those places would be great!

Top ten ranked

have so many more I could add. This was the hardest list to make. I've seen a lot, and several of these are comfort films or genuinely spooked me. I grew up in a deeply religious home, any horror movies were not allowed beyond something like Signs or The Visit.
Nothing that wasn't pg-13 or had anything to do with demons was allowed. The Conjuring was the first legit horror movie I ever saw at 15 and I was pretty hooked.
Love to hear thoughts! Or even some suggestions!

Possibly neglected leos no

Hopefully this is ok to post.

A guy in my area posted these Leo’s on marketplace. I’m torn on whether I should take them off his hands and then rehome them myself. I truly don’t care for leopard geckos much (I prefer bearded dragons), but I did have them as a teen. However, my heart is breaking seeing them like this and reading that the guy admits to neglecting them. Would love advice or maybe some suggestions because I’m really debating just taking them all.
