I bought an Aventon LR last year but because of travel etc it sat idle inside my house in an area that has some temperature control (so not exposed to extreme summer heat in summer in California).

Recently started riding it after 14 months of buying it. And now I moved homes so its parked in a garage thats not temperature controlled so the temperature inside garage could be 90 or more when outside is 110 F. Observed these and wanted to know:

1. Should I take this to bike shop to get it tuned/oiled because it was sitting idle for one year. It was brand new , no miles though it sat idle. Btw mine was assembled by a bike store so am assuming they fine tuned and oiled it before I picked up last year.
2. Since I parked this in garage for 2 months, I have felt some stickiness in the rubber grips. What can I do to ensure heat doesnt deteriorate this. Any handle covers possible ? Google says wrap it with cloth when not used so there is a layer of insulation.
3. Headlights - I was riding a trail during dusk with headlights on and the trail uses who were walking found it very bright and shielding their eyes. Did you all adjust the headlights after it came from factory ? I checked the manual but nothing much on headlight adjustment. My headlight beam shines about 30 ft ahead and straight.
4. Climbing hills - When I use throttle (and dont pedal) to go up hills do I gear down (to make it easy on motor) or keep it high gear.

Note that I had removed the battery when it was in storage and battery was kept indoors.

I used Watch 10 with no issues for walking and it registers everything fine - distance/highest altitude, time and calories etc.

Recently I used it for bicycling and all it does is track total time,calories, highest altitude but no distance (shows 0 FT always). I trouble shooted this, googled solutions but still doesnt work. Any idea whats happening, esp when it works fine with walking and can track distance/has gps etc. If its helpful am paired to a iphone 12 (though I dont carry the phone when am walking or bicycling).

My CURRENT needs are it should be able handle multiple (10 plus excel and word doc) being opened, atleast 100 plus chrome tabs being opened - this is my current need.

In the future I would like to do video editing, run many python jobs and the machine be decent enough to take updates to many softwares (most of which will have an AI component I guess), do 4K video rendering and editing (this could be once in a month) .

My usage is mostly like a desktop and I hardly take the laptop except during long travel when I would be away for few weeks and need to access/get my work done etc.

Also would expect the laptop to run most softwares that might have some kind of heavy AI component in another 3-5 years.

Advantages I see with 7680 is that I can upgrade its components vs 5570 which is soldered on. Weight of 7680 is a concern but I might only travel a couple of times with this.

Whats your advice ? Get the cheaper 5570 and in 3 years get a Dell pro max (used) for the same price that I might be paying for 7680 now. Currently 5570 is available for $450 and 7680 for about $1000. My concern is though 7680 is a beast compared to 5570, its not future ready in another 3-5 years as AI enabled softwares would need more capable processors that 7680 cant beat (despite upgradable RAM etc)

I need to replace my laptop because my current one (though still suits my need is getting slow). I have been thinking about getting a Dell Precision to this extent.

I saw one for this configuration: Dell Precision 5570 Laptop, i7-12800H. 1TB NVMe SSD. NVIDIA RTX A2000 (8GB GDDR6). 32 GB RAM. Comes with a thunderbolt dock 180W supports 3 screens I think. Battery shows 78% capacity so would need replacement in near future.

Would like to know if this laptop can support me for next 5-7 years given my above usage. The processor is from 2023 and 3 years old but I am not sure if I should go for a latest one with AI capabilities because in another two years the AI capabilities would require far more processing.

Price wise its $500, is this reasonable price ?

Another concern is this is a work laptop which the user was able to wipe and resell. I am not sure if such laptops can come with issues later such as BIOS being locked or software updates being unavailable.

If you saw it at Esquire how was the experience - is it worth going all the way there or I am wondering if I should just go to my local theatre and not bother about seeing it on 70mm.

Every ticket till end of August (last day the movie is scheduled for) is sold out. What are the chances they could extend it further because of high demand, or would it replaced for other movies waiting in line.

I have a long screen (10 ft long) that I want to take to India. To my best knowledge it cant go on flights. Only way to ship it is get min of 100 cu ft of shipping space with indian shipping agents in US, that costs about $1500. Wondering if there is any website/resource where people share container space to ship items.

A friend of min who lives in dubai invests in US stock market through a brokerage from dubai. US doesnt tax for any gains (short or long) by investors who are not US residents and live outside US. Its upto that country to tax the gains. Dubai is a tax free country (no capital gains or income tax) so there is no tax there as well. But US would tax a US citizen who lives in dubai and trades in US or even earns an income in dubai.

Am wondering why does US let other countries free ride the US stock market and taking the profits elsewhere with no tax applied, but comes with a heavy stick to US residents. Whats the advantage here - is this to attract foreign capital to US markets ?

I am trying to understand a wash sale was triggered in my brokerage account and the cost basis was adjusted. Disappointed that customer service were clueless about how avg cost basis is calculated.

Trying to gain wisdom on this forum if someone can explain it:

1. Scenario 1

Buy 10 shares of Stock A for $100

I sell them all in 5 days for $80 , registering a loss of $20 a share

I dont buy Stock A anymore. Is wash sale triggered in this case or can the loss be used to adjust against any future profits.

If wash sale is triggered how do you calculate the avg cost price for a Stock that I no more own.

2. Scenario 2

Same as 1 but after I sell for $80, I buy 7 shares of Stock A in a few days for $60 a share. I dont do any more buying or selling in Stock A after this.

How do you calculate the avg cost basis now (because wash sale is triggered) because the quantity of shares I buy is different.

Would that be calculated as $60/share (buying price) + previous loss per share = $80 is the average cost basis for 7 shares.

Would the loss for remaining 3 shares in my previous transaction (as I had sold 10 shares of Stock A but only bought back 7) be registered as tax loss (3 x $20 = $60) and can be adjusted against any profits or I cannot use this loss to adjust against any future profits ?

3. Substantially similar stock: Wash sale is also triggered if I buy a similar stock instead of the exact one I sold.

For a real world example if I bought 10 units of SOXL (ETF) , and sold them at a loss (all of them) and later I buy its inverse ETF SOXS, is that considered substantially similar because they are based on similar securities but inversely correlated.

I lived in Germany for 3 years and has been out of country for more than 10 years now. I want to claim the German pension refund. But whenever I email the Pension office, its hard to get a response , and even when they respond, that is not followed through later on. Has anyone tried calling the office, do they speak English (as I dont speak German). Is there any other faster way to get this done (apart from using and paying for external agencies).

Indian resident and I have a gift city account. Is it possible to connect my Gift city account to any of IndMoney, IBKR or any such brokers so I can invest in stocks in US. I heard of Gift city funds but I want to invest in US stocks, so wanted to know is there any broker that would link to Gift city bank account for funding and buying US stocks.

I want to use minoxidil (which is used for hair loss). It comes in liquid form or as a foam (like shaving foam).

The following are inactive ingredients of each:

1. Liquid form: Inactive Ingredient - propylene glycol

2. Foam: Inactive Ingredients:

butane, butylated hydroxytoluene, cetyl alcohol, citric acid, dehycrated alcohol, isobutane, lactic acid, polysorbate 60, propane, stearyl alcohol

I read some of these chemicals (butane, phenol,certain alcohol,benzene) can cause contact vitiligo. In fact my first vitiligo started after I used a shaving foam and I suspect it had some chemical which triggered vitiligo.

Anyone knows if chemicals listed above are safe to use or both are risky and could trigger vitiligo ?

I have Sony digital frame. Need to clean up the glass of the frame (underneath) and I just cant open the digital frame. Is there any place I can take this for repair in Sacramento ? Its out of Sonys warranty.

I am moving some stuff to India, and it includes my projector and screen. Its an expensive screen and the similar in India costs more than a lakh. The screen is hardly 10 kg and with packing it might be 15 kg. The dimensions are 11 ft x 7 inch x 7 inch after packing (so the length is the factor). Can I carry this as check in bag on a flight as oversized, or because of its length they wont allow it to be checked in. Or are there certain flights that might be accepting of this. The only option is to ship it (and because of its length I have to go for min 100 cu ft), which gets expensive. Suggestions ?

Leveraged ETFs like TQQQ are supposed to be short term. But looking at charts, over a 5 year period it gave a return of 26% every year. Does it mean if I invested 1000 dollars 5 years back it would have grown 26% each year, or would it be less because of the decay ? So this means its good to hold long term too ? What am I missing ?

Anyone gone up north on garden highway that hugs the river. Is the ride beautiful or is the river behind a levee that you cant see much from the Garden highway. Up north I see a levee road on map but I am assuming this would be closed to normal traffic and unpaved. Any suggestions for any other riverside drive or a drive through agricultural land/fields will be good to know, before it starts getting hotter.

I see two versions. 5% Minoxidil Topical Solution, 2 fl oz, 6-pack for $17 ish vs Minoxidil Foam for Men, 2.11 oz, 6-count for $48ish.

One is a liquid and another is foam. Both are advertised as 6 month supply.

For those of you who have bought from Minoxidil which one is the best to go for. Do they give similar results. My use is for beard and for thinnig crown.
