I got the game on sale to play something light-hearted and idk, if I am tripping? I really like it and the game seems quite fun (like a box of assorted chocolate candies) but in the same time it feels weirdly… mean. Your character is portrayed as a total looser, your virtual coworker makes fun of you all the time, and a lot of characters are plain rude or just yell at you a lot.

I mean I get it that it tries to encompass a lot of different personalities (well, on a shallow level), but I tried to find the inanimal for Mateo and had to sit through 4 sessions of literal screaming to close up Harper&Dirk story so I could ask about it and be ignored again (found the inanimal at the windowsill but really that wasn’t the initial direction of the game). The Ducky character just plain screamed and called me names at every encounter and it turned out I had to “take it” and tolerate it to reveal she was a traumatized character.  A lot of characters just treat you off the bat as a poor looser that needs all the help you can and it somehow supposed to be funny but as a constantly recurring motive, it's just not. There is a number of characters you have no choice to tell them no (not even because they gonna hate you, just there is no option), like I accidentally got into the dialog with the safe character and she keeps calling you names with no options to tell her to stop that (cool if you’re into, I am not, I ended up closing the game via alt+F4).

Idk, I clearly can see it’s not the type of game to expect depth from, but I am a bit baffled on the amount of times it managed to make me feel uncomfortable while on paper it’s very consent-friendly and open-minded. It’s like it feels like if you’re not down with everything thrown at you, you get the short end of the stick. It is still more fun than unpleasant, but I just wonder is it me being too sensitive or the game has issues?

So I just wanted to give a little warning about being careful with rubbing alcohol around the dolls. We all know that about acetone (obviously), but I recently discovered their panty paint can come off being in contact with some rubbing alcohol.

I went on to spray some on my hands to clean them up a bit before handling my Blaze and grabbed her by the booty while working on her hair. In a couple of minutes I felt that my fingers are kinda sticky and discovered a big chunk of paint came off her panties on my fingers and it looked like the whole paint got a bit wet and messy. I had to literally de-pant her whole ass with the rubbing alcohol to clean her up and avoid further staining.

It was a surprise because I handled a lot of thrifted rainbow highs and in addition to soap\water, sometimes I'd treat them with a bit of rubbing alcohol if the doll came from some untrustful source, and never had this happen.

So if someone is a bit of a clean freak, be careful with the rubbing alcohol around the dolls.

So I come from rainbow high\shadow high fanbase and obviously wanted to check out Mirror Mi, because they seem like a yassified successors of the line. The look pretty cool in boxes too.

Honestly, they probably intended to stay in boxes. I got Blaze as a first doll, and it was the worst experience in a couple of years in terms of quality:

- Her hair is one solid block, like it was dunked in glue or varnish. Her whole forehead is smeared with glue, somehow even her legs are smeared with glue up to her knees.

- The rooting is horrendous, she’s half bald and if you dreamed of de-banging her like you could a RH\SH doll – forget it, she’s gonna be really half bald if you try.

- Her skirt – which is my favorite designer piece – got stuck to the plastic of the box and covered with uneven glue smears all over the back. Idk if I can gently wash it out.

- Her boots are scathed randomly, there is a smear of white glue (or a scratch?) on her thigh.

- She got THREE plastic tabs in her tiny head which – after being carefully cut flush – went inside and left 3 ugly wholes on the back of her head, 2 I can see and one is hidden in the middle of the head. Yeah, they will be covered with hair, no, I am still not happy to have random uneven head holes.

I mean, she looks cool. If you are an in-box collector or you don’t play with your dolls (just take it out and position) – Mirror Mi is probably a solid choice. But if you like to play with your dolls, or restyle then at least – buckle up. I have bought my decent share of RH\SH dolls, both thrifted and new and never had such awful experience. I am really disappointed and angry. I will not be buying anything from this line, this was more than enough.

The best experience this year (and probably, of my life) was buying Willow of Moonspell High. I took her out and just put her on the shelf – she has soft hair with zero product, no defects, no complications and looks so good. I wish I’ve gotten Ray Lumina instead of Blaze.

Idk, I am at that point of my life when I am done “putting in work” for dolls I paid a decent price for. I can do some light restyles or washing, but I am done normalizing scrubbing, repainting, and fixing dolls I bought brand new so I can finally enjoy them. I have fixed so much new dolls, mostly MGA, I just don’t want to anymore.

Have you done something with RH\SH dolls that you considered to be a "sin", idk like not picking up your grail on sale or giving away your fav doll?

Mine is not getting Veronica. I was hunting online some pre-loved dolls and saw the person having the storm twins in tired, but mostly complete state. I got Naomi but refused to get Veronica. My budget was not great and she had a number of things against her - she had bangs (which I irrationally hate and always de-bang), her outfit was similar to Daphne but in violet (and I didn't like the fabric), I also really hated the bubble face hole and didn't want to figure out how to fix it without it being obvious.

What's interesting, I do not regret it BUT in the same time I never forget about it for years, and feel like it is my "sin" that I have separated the sisters. Silly as it may sound!

If I'd have the chance to get them NIB, ofc, I'd keep her, but it was a totally different set of circumstances.

Anybody changed their minds seeing dolls in person? I just got to Smyth Toys wanting Clair so bad but when I saw her in person, I got a bit disappointed. I wanted her to be more like g3 Catty probably, but she has Drac's proportions but even smaller, so it ended up looking kinda weird to me (extremely tiny chest and wide hips). Plus I really wanted more contrast to black-blue colors (like she looks in her screening) and yet her face print looks more pale/toned down, less contrasted.

Instead I fallen in love with my second favorite, Willow, she's even better in person and just charming, and really want Rae Lumina now, her colors and outfit are so beautiful. They didn't have Carina, unfortunately, but I'm sure she'll come.

I left with Willow and can't wait to unpack her! My G3 Venus gonna finally have a gf who's into plants too!

I'm like 6 h in and got to the Golden Grove. The game is pretty cool (although the the handholding is a bit much atp), love the art and storytelling, but the mindnumbing unavoidable trash fights drive me nuts. I just did probably at least 30 trash fights back to back while exploring Golden Grove - literally I defeat the monster, make 3 steps to check the nook for chests, turn around and it has already respawned. They are all the same, so I just sit there mashing buttons just to go from point A to point B and then rinse and repeat because surely we're backtracking again for the lil spirit who wants to show us his new cool spell.

And I can't quit and return when I am more in the mood for that, because you can't save in "dungeons".

So, is there any way to avoid the mind-numbing repetitive trash fights so I can at least navigate in peace instead of force-grinding? Or will it be further in the game? In dungeons I can't even ran away because narrow passages, I just position myself to disadvantage.

The art and the spirit of the game are so charming but the trash fights just drive me crazy. I encountered the exact same battle mechanics in Digimon Cyber Sleuth and probs was one of the reasons I just DNF-ed at certain point, and I really want to play this game.

So, this went totally not how I expected it to go. It was my 4th run and 1st tactitian (in DoS2 and in general). The funny thing is, I was so afraid of getting my ass kicked but tbh, the hardest were the earliest levels (enabled respect def helped) despite always experimenting a bit with builds plus I never optimize too much (i.e., I never used Apotheosis and rarely used skin graft).

It felt a lot like playing on normal, just bit more challenging, so the same way I could also fight and win combat 1-2 level over (just in this case, it was a more challenging and needed more precision/planning).

The battles I dreaded the most I managed totally fine - namely, Arx, late battles went completely okay a lot of because I finally tried the green tea (used it only 3 times - in finals, Isbeil and Doctor fight). The Doctor fight without Lohse went with no drama, because I accidentally stole something and all nurses aggroed on me (without Doctor himself), so in the end I managed to bunch him up with his demons, entangle, blood rain and put on finishing touches. Took like 3 turns, I wasn't so surprised the whole game.

I even did the full final fight with the second coming of Kraken and while it was a bit tricky, wasn't bad at all (the only little cheese I used is throwing a barrel of deathfog at the start to take out Lucian and Gheist). Before the Lucian's Tomb I was at the end of level 20 naturally, so I broke my rule and killed a couple of non-villains (trolls in the theives' den), plus I got a second assasins' ambush after I've already defeated Doctor, so I got to level 21.

Discovered a couple of caches I totally didn't remember and finally managed to retrieve the ball for Arhu's doggo (and got almost 100k XP for that, iirc).

The most useful spell that was proven until the end, was the Worms Tremor with the Torturer talent, I literally used it even in the last battle and it always helped, despite not having geo or pyro this run. The second most useful items were: charm arrows/bombs (and mind maggot bombs in Arx) and knockdown arrows (used only in the hardest fights).

Run was no-civilians kill (like always for me), no deathfog till final, magisters are free game, technically 3 and 1 comp, so Scoundrel-Poly, Necro with some Aero and Geo (movement and cc), Aero-Hydro with some huntsman for more damage and almost pure Huntsman with a tad of Pyro for Haste and Clear Mind. Everyone got morning person because otherwise ressurections are useless.

Bonus, finally saw the ending when the God King takes over, never saw it before (reloaded, ofc). The Beast singing his signature song in the saddest deadest voice got to me.
