The Scented Bodywash Problem

What do you use for bodywash that doesn't get in the way of your fragrances? Something in mine is making me go noseblind to all my frags :( I would like to find a quality bodywash that is unscented and isn't the "moisturizing" type.

Materials to avoid if I dislike powdery scents?

I am just beginning my journey in perfuming and I have always had an aversion to powdery scents. I'd like to avoid materials that will impart this characteristic. Given that, which materials should I avoid for my organ?

Modem of choice compatible with Xfinity coax 2 Gb/s (US)?

I'm setting up unifi equipment at a new property, which includes the Unifi dream machine router. Which are the go-to modems these days that are not besieged by CVEs and US government bans?

What products do you use to contain extremely strong ingredients like Ambrinol 95?

I'm new, be easy on me :) I'm putting together my first ever ingredients batch and it occurred to me that I need to have a way to completely isolate ingredients like Ambrinol 95.

I am looking for a professional product that is purpose made for lab environments to store strongly smelling chemicals.

I am predicting that ingredients like this one could create major problems by adulterating the ambient air in my work area and therefore skewing my perception of everything I work on there. I could also see this creating a smell fatigue situation very quickly if not stored properly.

Ambrinol comes in a vacuum sealed package and I'm leery of relying on this packaging to contain it after I open it for first time (even if it can be resealed - I'm not sure).

Thank you :)

GCMS for Amouage Interlude Man?

I want to start learning fragrance making. For me, the best starting point will be to follow the recipes of some of my favorite frags and then tweaking the recipes to make my own variants. Interlude Man is top 3 for me so I was wondering if anyone is aware of an available GCMS of it?

DSC IQ Panel 5 - Experiences So Far?

Panel 5 is now generally available. Is it stable enough to actually use? I just ordered one and most of the DSC PowerG+ sensors (PGP9922, PGP9976, PGP9945E, PGP9914, QC000B-840). Hoping for the best lol.

Recommended US sellers of Radionix TriTech Professional Series motion detectors?

I'm setting up a completely new system and it's my first time doing this. These motion detectors seem to be highly regarded but I'm not seeing many options for purchase. Additionally, their website seems to say that they only supply Australia?

Where have you sourced vibration isolation mats (US) that you like?

These are for a few corexy 3d printers. Grainger and McMaster prices are outrageous for these but I also am leery of buying any old vibration mats off of amazon or aliexpress. Because this is reddit and I know I'm going to get responses asking why would I ever put 3d printers right on isolation mats: the mats will be installed between the floor and solid concrete squares and the printers will sit on the concrete squares.

I don't understand why Creed gets so much love here

I've always found Creed to be just moderately better than the typical mass market department store frags. I don't think their formulations come anywhere close to the quality of the many niche perfumers or the more capable of popular high-end brands like Tom Ford, Amouage, DS & Durga, Frédéric Malle, Byredo, etc

So, given that this sub is full of frag connoisseurs, why is Creed so highly regarded? Is my nose off?

Why do the Irish react so joyfully at the success of others?

I've noticed that the Irish really like to celebrate the success of their friends more than in other cultures. What's the reason for that? They seem to really love and embrace even the most modest of outward displays of wealth of others. Anyone else notice this?

Is There A Glut Of Fragrances On The Market?

Are there too many fragrances on the market in your opinion? Im kind of thinking yes simply due to the fact that all of us can name many fragrances that very closely resemble one or more other fragrances.

IYO, what's a reasonable timeframe to become skilled enough to create perfumes professionally?

So, I'm an early retired C-level executive and I've been searching for a new life pursuit. I have always had a passion for niche, high end fragrances (Tauer, Fueguia, Profumum, Amouage, et al) and a nagging interest to pursue the the skill of their crafting.

My professional background includes hands-on work in technology and design. To a fault, I'm uncompromising when it comes to execution and quality.

I think Tauer came into this as an industry outsider and I'm sure others have as well. So, I'm sure it's possible (but exceptional) to break into the industry.

If I make the jump, I'll start small with limited materials and tools but I'm curious what kind of timeline I'd be looking at to become proficient in fragrance making. I do realize that skill development never ends especially since new molecules are constantly developed.

No-Compromise Quality Contact Sensors (for DSC Qolsys Pro)

I'm putting together a whole-house, wired system and looking to identify the models and makers that are considered by industry professionals to be the most high-performance and most reliable contact sensors. Given the maturity of this product category, I imagine there is not a ton of significant differentiation. But still, there are probably products that are regarded to be of the highest quality and superior performance. Anyone have insight here? Feel free to add in the same for other sensor types, as I am designing a complete security and sensor system from ground up.

Ideally, folks with past experience with multiple manufactures and lines would weigh in on these questions. Please, no "really, any contact sensor will do the job" type responses.

This is for a property in the South Florida area and I am also looking for an installer here. If this is you, feel free to DM.

What's the go-to 3d printable pegboard system these days?

Has any pegboard system yet become the system of choice by most folks? I'm not up-to-date on this but would like to adopt one system and start mounting my tools. Of particular importance to me is the openness of the system.

A long while back I looked into multiboard but grew dissatisfied because 1) the bins and other parts couldn't be reasonably modified to add text labels (because of the next point); 2) they only released STLs, which would fail to convert to solid bodies in Fusion; 3) a lot of stuff was only available for purchase; 4) documentation was frustratingly obtuse and disjointed.

Please Recommend A Supermicro Model for Up To 16-20x 18 GB HDDs, At Least 128 GB ECC RAM That Can Be Had Used

Calling all Supermicro folks who can recommend a few systems that are typically available used (is this still the preferred approach for small business grade TrueNAS storage servers?).

I'm lost on where to start and having a hard time since storage was never my IT specialty (I have 30+ years of Linux/Unix experience and programming experience, decent networking knowledge, built countless PCs).

Here are my requirements:

  1. Rack mount footprint.

  2. As quiet as possible so a thin blade type build isn't very desirable since this will be going inside my home network closet.

  3. I already have 10x NAS compatible 18 GB HDDs so this support is a hard requirement. I intend to buy more for the final build.

  4. IPMI out of the box

  5. Support for high speed NVMe boot drive

  6. Fiber 10G (SFP+ preference - I have a 10G SFP++ switch) or 2.5 GbE or greater dual

  7. Minimum 128 GB ECC RAM

Thanks!!

Confused About How To Correctly Run and Ground Shielded Cat6a To Outdoor POE Cameras From An Indoor Switch

I want to install several commercial-grade security cameras on the outside of my structure. They will be mounted on the outside of the concrete walls of the same building that contains all of the networking gear.

The manufacturer strictly specifies shielded Cat6a and that the cameras must be grounded. I understand how to properly terminate the shielded keystones and jacks on the cable - this post isn't a question about that detail. Basically I'm clueless about all the other extra requirements that are required for shielded vs unshielded cat6a and grounding.

A little about the network topology. The cameras will connect to dedicated POE switches that are installed at the edges of the interior of the property, in a star configuration back to a main, central network closet. These switches will connect to the central closet only by fiber. These switches supplying cat6a to said cameras will be mounted inside plastic, in-wall Legrand On-Q enclosures.

Plastic Or Metal Enclosure?

I think I've settled on a 42" Legrand On-Q enclosure. I have a choice of metal or plastic construction and I don't get what the (dis)advantages are of each other than weight. What's the consensus here on which is the better option?

This enclosure will house security system PCBs (QoLsys 4), cable modem, various consumer-grade hubs, some RPis, etc.
