The tree 20 feet in front of me is a green blob. I constantly wave at people thinking they're people I know. I can't go anywhere without a piece of plastic/metal on my face. And WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO PAY TO SEE!!? Why are humans designed to have eyesight that gets worse as we age‽

Aside: obviously, opticians and the people making the eyeglasses should be paid for their work.

About a year ago I got terrible news. It was pouring rain down so hard, and I was over 2 miles away from my car. So, I ordered an uber and was damn near sobbing myself sick by the time he got to me. He was so genuinely kind to me and empathized with me. Sometime during the ride, he canceled and refunded me the fare.

I highly doubt he's on here, but if you gave a ride to a woman on a rainy day in June crying about her dying cat and showed compassion, thank you. I still think about your kindness.

I am strictly a right side sleeper. I got my surgery on my left foot, so if I were to lay on my right side, the surgery site would be pressing into the bed. Im 3 weeks post op. If I wear my airboot, can I gently prop it up with some pillows and sleep?

This would be surgery side down to the bed.

The number of times I've seen people getting down right nasty because someone has a cat in a studio apartment or kept in their room for x,y, z reasons. They act as though you've got the cat in a 3 x 4 kennel and never interact or play with it. Can they not comprehend that a bedroom or studio is much larger than the kennels at the shelter? Do they really think the cat would be better off staying cooped up in those small shelter boxes, surrounded by dozens of other cats, constantly getting sicknesses, and likely getting put to sleep because of over crowding? It's all just some classism dressed up as moral superiority bullshit.

An average sized bedroom or studio is better than staying in the shelter or dying; and every time I see someone calling the pet owner cruel, I just assume they would rather the pet dead than cared for by someone they deem beneath them because they're poor.

I'll keep it short and sweet. So, im currently bedbound from surgery and recovering at my grandparents' house. My grandpa is outside all day taking care of the farm, so it's pretty much just me and my grandma in the house all day. She is amazing. She's been helping me shower, bringing me food/water/medicines, and she's been feeding my cats and cleaning their litterbox, PLUS all the other little random things throughout the day.

My thing is though, she's only cleaning the litter box every other day, so it's getting pretty smelly by the end of the second day. And, the carpet in my room needs a vacuum badly.

Im worried i would be such an asshole to ask her to do more when she's already doing so much for me. Should I just suck it up while im recovering, or should I ask her to clean the box daily and vacuum my room?

I grew up with dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, turtles, frogs, and at some point there was a hamster, but it was strictly my mom's. For the past 10+ years though, I have personally only had cats. I am however looking at building a home and all that jazz, and when I finally have the space for it, im thinking about getting a dog.

I currently have two 7 month old kittens. So far I've narrowed my preferences to

-golden retriever

-samoyed

-german shepherd

The only breed I dont have experience with is the samoyed. So, im asking for yall's experiences with these breeds in cat households. Tell me if it was a nightmare or a breeze to train them (I could do with some reminders 😅).

Would it be more offensive say:

"I don't believe in your god."

Or

"I don't worship your god."

Because one implies everything they stand for is fake and the other says sure, your god might be real, but so are other gods, and I reject yours.

All of the signs leading up to security say leave your laptops in your bags. It's playing on the TV screens, leave your laptops in your bags. It's on the movable stands every 15 feet of the queue, leave your laptops in your bags. It's painted on the walls!

There was about 5 seconds of pawing at the blanket, he laid on my chest for maybe 3 seconds, and then left. But he laid on me!!!!

I got surgery about 2 weeks ago, and my nerves have been ZINGING for days. It feels like electricity is crawling around my foot. I know this is normal, the nerves are repairing and all that. The surgery site looks good, and bruising is finally fading.

I have no idea what surgery i got. I just know I have a pretty long incision down the side of my foot and a decent sized one between the toes. There's pins and plates in there, too. And, im ordered very strictly no weight bearing what so ever for 6 weeks.* So if a mod can tell which one I got from that and wants to change the flair, please feel free.

But I wanna know, how long is this crawling lightning going to last?

If your nerve pain never went away, I am sorry, but please do not reply. Ive got enough medical anxiety and I dont need to catastrophize right now.

Those little guys always had such good memories attached to them, running around the yard as a kid trying to catch them and freaking out when they crawl in your hands, grabbing them out of the air on late night walks back from the bar and tossing them back into the air, unfortunately watching my dog chomp one mid flight 😅

I remember being worried about them going extinct because I hadn't seen them in so long, so im just really happy to see a lightnin bug out my window tonight.
