[Star Wars] Why was General Grievous not given a more resilient armor? Seems like his entire design was based on flexibility/speed rather than strength/combat. He's supposed to wield lightsabers yet himself didn't seem to have any protection against them in combat. What gives?

It seems for a general, he didn't even get the best of the best in terms of tech outfitted on himself.

Why doesn't he have any shields, no lightsaber resistant materials, all in all, he's very poorly equipped for battle. It seems like his strategy is to "shock" Jedi into showing off his multi arm lightsabers and hope it gets the job done. What happens when he faces an actual good duelist? We saw how easily Obi Wan dispatched of him, so it makes me wonder if, much like his namesake being a "general", if he was ever even intended to be in the battlefield.

His repuation screams as if he's a fearful duelist, but it seems he himself isn't really that well defended in terms of a fight.

Just a weird choice of cyborg body to use. Is there any explanation why he wasn't outfitted with the best Seperatists could offer.

Hey all! Wanted to show some pics of me posing my Supergirl figure!

I don't often pose around with my figures, but she's so fun to play around with.

u/SolidEllie — 2 days ago

Nah, this is peak. Might be my fav Supergirl figure.

I went a bit overboard with the pics.

Those lanky arms? They're probably my fav aspect because it makes her so animated and, as you can tell by how she's handling Cap, those are some strong arms!!

I had to get all 3 versions of the film Supergirl to get all the parts, and it honestly should've just been 1 Deluxe release, but for what it's worth, this is probably the funnest one to pose and play with. Even had to dust off my Goku for this one.

The skirt somewhat hinders the articulation compared to say, Injustice 2 Supergirl, but I don't mind it.

[Lord of the Rings] If I lived among Orcs or Uruks, kind of like a "war reporter" or sorts, just follow them around and detail their lifestyle, would you find them to be evil or would you eventually bond with them?

Ok so I had a really weird idea.

Imagine like, Saruman or whoever in charge made me immune to be harmed by Orcs and Uruks. My only job is to literally document them. Their behavior, banter, habits, how they hunt, how to train, how they fight, etc.

So essentially, I live among them as a human but I'm basically there to study them and report on their life.

Would I begin to like them? Would they consider me a friendly? Would I stop seeing them as something foul and beastly and find some social belonging with them?

First time playing Lord of the Rings Online, the moment I started up (High Elf, Warden), this is my character's default look. Instantly reminded me of the PTSD soldier meme.

Honestly hilarious.

I'm gonna pretend my character is a PTSD-ridden Warden making my way through Middle Earth. Who knows what these eyes have seen, and have yet to see?....

Bad Ending scenario: I wonder if Leon realizes that Zeno is still alive and can easily chase down Grace??? LOL.

Leon acting like he's going out by taking Zeno down with him of something. Um hello? Zeno is still well and alive and can probably use his superspeed to literally climb and apprehend Grace again. Or you know, hunt her down again and again.

Grace isn't really "saved" in this scenario, but Leon's suggesting he sacrificed himself for her and is somehow taking down Zeno with him.

I know its not a canon ending, but at least the line should've made sense in the context haha. Grace is barely an inconvenience to Zeno even at this stage.

u/SolidEllie — 7 days ago

The way the story was unfolding, I was thinking Grace herself was a B.O.W and about to "transform" here.

At this point in the game they were still hinting at the idea that Grace was the prime version of the specimen cloned by Victor to create Emily and Marie.

Since both turned out to be "failures" I was almost expecting that Grace herself would trigger her own transformation here, basically laying dormant until into her adulthood, maybe either being triggered due to rage/panic etc.

I was like "oh damn, don't tell me we have to fight transformed Grace as Leon!!"

A bit late but managed to get this beauty for May 4th. As someone who loves ancient Jedi/Sith lore, I cannot tell you how hyped I am to read this. As someone who grew up on Prequels, I never thought I'd love these old tales but I do! Maybe sometimes even more than the films.

Glad to have this one crossed off my want list.

Recently I've been very picky with what books I want to collect. I'm no completionist but I noticed my taste gravitate a lot towards stories set in the past. It truly makes the galaxy seem like a place with endless possibilities, and the tag "A long time ago...." truly fits the scene.

Recently I've been trying to also collect more OT era stuff, since I grew up on the prequels, and so far, and ESB and ROTJ are some of my fav. I want to eventually focus on the EU stories that take place afterwards (Legacy omnibus), but for now, I'm loving exploring these ancient tales.

I put on some Jedi/Sith meditation ambience music and start reading, it feels like im peering into some long-forgetten tome of knowledge.

Its SO good!!

After much thought, I got myself the Uncanny X-Men by Bendis. I read the All-New X-Men and liked the premise. Excited to finally read this! Also picked up the No Surrender/No Road Home. Wanted a fun modern Avengers story and it came down between this and Avengers Forever by Aaron. Went with this.

Going in blind into both!!

I just need to read a few issues leading up to the Avengers story.

I already read All-New X-Men by Bendis digitally, and beween that and Uncanny, I think I'm fine owning just Uncanny (The All-New is OOP anyways hehe). All-New was very good character dynamic, and I loved the drama between the young/old cast of X-Men. I heard Uncanny has the "end" of that run, plus the annual and the Battle of the Atom.

I think I'm done with X-Men for now. Excited to read about this era before Krakoa.

This is insane! Anyone get a DM cover from Amazon?? For May 4th I ordered the Tales of the Jedi from Amazon Canada. It said only 1 left. It's now out of stock, so I assume I got the legit last one. It arrived a bit late today, but....I have a DM version!! It's not sealed either.

Morning all! I had to share this strangeness LOL.

Here in Canada I was eyeing the Tales of Jedi Omnibus for a long time. Reluctantly, I bit the bullet because on my app it kept saying "only 1 left in stock". Now I had those before, but then normally they would update back to in-stock after a few days.

But since it was May 4th, I thought I'd treat myself, so I went ahead and bought it. Didn't have Prime delivery, said it would arrive sometime from May 8th - mid June.... great.

Anyways, the Tales of Jedi omnibus is currently not in Amazon Canada stock anymore.

The package arrived this morning, and to my surprise, it's the damn DM Cover!! It's not sealed, but it's not in a bad condition. I'm not even mad since the DM Cover is MUCH better to me, but also, I doubt I could even get a refund and buy another one anyways at this point.

I mainly shop using Amazon, so I've never seen a DM cover unless it was at a local brick and mortal store here.

It's delivered and fulfilled by Amazon, not a 3rd party seller, which makes it even more confusing to me.

Does a Terminator get angry/sad/upset if it cannot complete its mission?

Look at those big sad baby eyes.

Was it more afraid of "dying", or was it more sad because it let Skynet down?

I'm always curious how the internal programming handles the situation.

In T3, remember when T850 was about to kill John, he says something akin to "you are about to fail your mission", which sends the T850 haywire? So is the failure of mission a trigger, more so than the preservation of its own existence/life?

Its kinda strange how 30 Days of Night is the only vampire media that terrified me to this day. Its depiction of the vampire is so raw and primal, it's truly terrifying. Never seen a truly scary vampire film before or since then.

Those vampires would just show up and kill and consume their prey, that's it. There was no deep lore, no explanation. Their mannerisms and sounds were so animalistic, it freaked me the hell out. They were more akin to infected/zombies. And I think that's what made them so terrifying.

Its just an observation I've made because I was thinking "damn, is it just me or vampires aren't really scary??" And then I remember the only one that WAS, was this movie.

Idk, I always see vampire as a horror icon, but it never really felt scary or creepy to me.

The only other depiction of vampire I thought was creepy was The Strain, but the show was....ehhhh. But top-notch character design and the backstory of The Master/Sardu is still amazing.

But yeah people, are vampires just not scary? Let me know if there are any worth checking out!

[Star Wars] Order 66 is issued across the Galaxy. If I'm a young Jedi and go into hiding, and a couple of years later decide, screw it, I will aid the Empire. Where should I go? What channels do I go through to contact Vader/Sidious to say I wish to serve under them?

The Empire had Inquisitors. Vader in the Force Unleashed games (I know no longer canon), wanted an apprentice. And the Empire had force users / acolytes in their disposal.

If I'm a "former Jedi" and I see these force users still thriving under the Empire, how do I stop being hunted and join them?

I genuinely don't give a damn about the Order anymore, I just want to make my way through the galaxy and serve some sort of purpose. So how do I get the attention of Vader or Palpatine?? I'm done hiding and running from planet to planet just trying to get by. I want the respect that Empirals get, and I can probably do so much more since I'm an actual trained force user.

I'm scared to tell this to a stormtrooper because they might just rat me out or kill me? I don't want to escalate things, I just want an audience with someone from the Empire who will take me in.

To this day, The Mummy is one of the only films where I never skip credits. Its so beautiful. I think I could have this playing on repeat all day at my home. It feels both grandiose and majestic, but also sad and reminds me of the bygone eras of civilization, but also kinda my childhood!

I'll be honest, I never found Pazuzu scary, like, at ALL, but what creeped me out the most was actually Regan herself. I'm actually surrprised a lot when people tell me its Pazuzu face that freaks them out!

I was always terrified of Regan's post-possession look. It's horrifying, the stuff of nightmares.

I might be in the minority here to say that the demon itself never seemed scary to me. Even those "flashes" of it appearing always felt a bit goofy, it was effective at conveying that the demon is always around, but not really something I found to make me flinch or jump or even be afraid of. To be honest the scary things in this film were the HUMAN aspects, like Karras' mom and Regan.

I think she's to this day one of the freakiest looks in horror. Just something about a normal girl looking like this is embedded in my mind for years!

Even in Exorcist Believer, the girls, once possessed, were scary as heck. It just seems...wrong, and I think that's what makes it scary. Their childlike innocence stripped away and allowed to be a vessel for a demon.

Hi all!

I own the Avengers vs X-Men omnibus, and the only other X-Men books I read from this era are Morrison X-Men omni and Astonishing X-Men by Whedon. The only other X-Men omni im interested in from the 2000s is the Messiah Complex trilogy omni.

From what I understand this book and All-New X-Men are both by Bendis and take place after AvX event.

All New is OOP already, and I read about 10-15 issues and found it alright. But I'm actually very curious about THIS omni because I remember I used to see many Cyclops memes and "evil" revolutionary Cyclops era stuff. Is this the book that answers it all??

My question is: Is this run essential in terms of Cyclops character (he's on my my fav X-Men), and, does this move the story forward?

I'm very hesitant to even ask because I sometimes like going in blind, and my gut tells me I should get it for that alone. But I'm also a responsible spender lol so I want some opinions.

Truthfully? I'm like 85% sure I'll get it anyways....ughh. I just wanna know what the whole fiasco with Cyclops was, especially that one image of a gun to his head. OMG, maybe I'm hyping it up more than it actually is!!!

[Star Wars] What happens to a "good" Stormtrooper in the ranks of the Empire? Do they get weeded out/disciplined, or is there a future in career advancement?

I would assume many would join the Empirial ranks just to have a better life and provide for their family, while still being a good person at heart who wishes to better the galaxy. Genuinely.

It seems any time Stormtroopers in the OT are shown, they just seem comically evil. Even in games. Of course, the Sequel introduced Finn as a "traitor" for being a trooper with conscience. But you can't tell me NOBODY was a good person back in the Empire days right?

My question is, what happens to these people? Basically the goody-two shoe troopers who try to be nice and do the right thing to the best of their ability?

Do other bad troopers realize this and report them? Do the good troopers ever rise in ranks?

Basically, go genuinely good troopers who serve the Empire exist and what happens to them as far as their career goes?

Would crossbows be hard to use in the apocalypse to an untrained person? Would they be effective or a hindrance for even inexperienced users?

Daryl's crossbow always comes up as an ingenious weapon suited for the apocalypse.

Easy to carry, relatively silent, resuable ammo (how many times CAN you re-use them?), and I reckon you can grab a bunch of ammo from hunting/sporting stores. Daryl can even make the ammo.

My question though, is that how effective would it be at the hands of someone who's never fired any bows or string-mechanism weapon before?

Are you actually worse off with them if you got no experience?

Honestly the only time I ever used these, even in videogames like Last of Us 2, man it was a pain in the ass to figure out the trajectory and accuracy.

I honestly think you'd be better off with a knife/machete than this, but idk.
