Acushnet Avenue At Night

Anyone mess with A Wilhelm Scream? I just recently found out about these guys and have sort of been bouncing around their catalogue. I’m a big Hot Water Music fan, so I’m a bit surprised I’d never heard of them, as I feel like they had to have been influenced by HWM. Seems like this album might not be one of their most popular with fans, but I like a handful of tracks on it. They have the feel of a band that I have to imagine puts on a really fun live show, with a great mix of fast classic style skate punk, shout along/anthemic choruses, and some shredding almost metal like guitar sections. If there’s any can’t miss records from this band, lmk. 🤘🏻

Where does your mind go when you think of the quintessential noise rock band? For me it’s obvious.

For years I’ve thought of them as THE noise rock band. Interested to see if other people feel the same way. Also, the whole Sterilize record is a bit underappreciated. Lots of great stuff on there 🤘🏻

Greatly underappreciated band.

Scooped these bangers recently. For those who know, Baby is sort of thought of as THE record by these guys. It’s great, but man, Young at the Bend is a ripper. I like them basically equal. Who digs Born Without Bones?

Is there a consensus on Thornhill as a live band?

Just curious what this community thinks of their live performance. I liked a bunch of songs off the new record and The Dark Pool but I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan or anything. Just trying to get a feel for if people think this is a can’t miss live band, as they’re playing in my town coming up. I’ve been to a bunch of shows lately so I’m pretty tired, but I’d consider it if this community convinces me.

Props to the NYC crowd last night. Yall were well behaved for the most part. I know the old Hum heads appreciate it. Let’s do the same tonight 🤘🏻

Really appreciated the crowd last night. From the first second the energy was high, but everyone was focused on the band (at least where I was standing sort of middle/right.) There was one little medical incident where someone collapsed during the beginning of the second song, but everything ran smoothly after that. Hope that person is ok!

Anyway, I didn’t get too many obnoxious talkers around me, just people simply enthralled listening to that THICK wall of sound the boys were creating.

Respect to the endless crowd surfing right from the jump, that was awesome.

I’m going to avoid spoilers but I really thought it was such a cool setlist selection. Can’t wait to do it again.

Broncho isn’t easily categorized. They blend indi, garage, surf, and psych. They’re just some really good song writers.
