CPA recommendations in Denver/Boulder area?

Hi, I need a CPA somewhere along the Front Range to help me dissolve a partnership in a tax-efficient way. So, someone that has experience in this area rather than a standard tax prep person. Any help would be appreciated!

If speed cameras are legal, then why don’t cities just put them literally everywhere, and rake in all the cash? There are a few where I live, but they’re not all that common.

Deep thought - Do you think Pigpen was bored during 45-minute Dark Stars?

Yes, I know he'd get in on the action some, but I feel like deep down Pig was a spicy bluesman, not really a psychedelic space wizard. I guarantee you he would sometimes be caught yawning during Dark Star 😂

Good family volunteer opportunities?

Hi, I have 2 kids - 6 and 11 and I'd love some easily accessible volunteer opportunities so I can reinforce giving back to the community, etc. Does anybody have any ideas? Would be great if on weekends we could sign up for a couple of hours every few weeks to get them indoctrinated early 😄

AIO - Family Drama - Advice Needed

Hi, my husband and I got divorced about a year ago. It's been pretty calm, amicable, but of course we hold grudges and resentments about various things we did to each other during the marriage and divorce.

He has maintained some contact with some of my extended family. I wasn't threatened by this, and felt that was OK - who am I to control who either party speaks to or talks to. But I've began to notice that a few of those 'friends' that are in my family (some of the extended family folks that I'm not as close with) seem to be acting differently towards me. More distant, cold, not returning my texts or writing thank you notes for things like wedding gifts, etc. It could be all in my head, but it does seem to be a thing.

I have suspicions that he is telling one or two of them negative things about me, and that's changing my relationship with them. I could ignore this, but some of them have big mouths and really don't want my family gossiping about me behind my back. I'm not bad mouthing him to her family, not even to my family! I've kept all of it confidential. Am I overreacting?

My question is what should I do, if anything? I've NEVER been one for family drama, so there are sort of three choices. One - ignore it. Eventually this stuff goes away. Two - confront him, and ask if he's been saying ANYTHING negative about me to my family. Or Three - ask the family members if they've been hearing negative things from him. Or maybe some option I haven't thought of? That's my dillema, what do you think?

House Not Selling - Need Advice

Looking for some objective advice on a rental property we're trying to sell.

We listed about 4 weeks ago with a local agent. Before listing, we spent roughly $25,000 based on our realtor's recommendations, including new carpet, paint, countertops, landscaping, light fixtures, and budget bathroom refreshes.

The house is approximately 2,800 sq. ft., 5 bedrooms, 3 levels, 2-car garage, and located on a cul-de-sac. The photos came out well and the property presents nicely overall.

We started at $670,000 and reduced to $650,000 about two weeks ago. We had decent initial interest but activity has slowed significantly since then.

The house does need a new roof, although so far that has not come up in feedback from showings.

At this point we're debating between:

  • Another price reduction
  • Professional staging (about $5,000)
  • Painting/refinishing kitchen cabinets
  • Some combination of the above

A few questions:

  • How much weight would you put on staging versus a price reduction?
  • Does a second price reduction hurt perception much if the property has only been listed for a month?
  • The house is at the hight end relative to comps, but it's not crazy, is it usually better to cut quickly or continue making improvements?
  • What additional information would help you evaluate the situation?

Happy to provide location, listing details, showing activity, feedback, rental income, or a link to the listing if that would help.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Got my grandfather's 1946 Hamilton Myron restored. So happy!

My father recently showed me this old Hamilton watch from my grandfather. I thought restoring it would cost a fortune and take forever. I googled around and found a guy named Tan Lai at vintagehamilton.com and sent it to him (I have no affiliation with them). Had it back in a week! Yes some told me to leave more patina on the watch - I wanted it 'like new'...I figure that it's got plenty of time now to get new patina. Anyway just wanted to share this 80 year old watch that I now have as an heirloom.
