Is it possible to mod in a point & click feature into a game?

There are a few games that I've played that I want to create point & click mods for (as well as save slots.) Are there any tutorials as to how to do that anyone can point me to?

Need advice for writing a story

What do the comic writers here do when it comes to scripting a story?

Do you have the entire story or arc of a story written before you start drawing or do you write more episodically?

I’ve been trying to script a story and I’ve been struggling to pace the plot and get from point a to point b without it feeling clunky or potentially risking any established character traits I have (writing two smart characters on opposite sides of a conflict with 1 not fully knowing as they both get closer is hard). I assume some of this can be helped if you get advice or see the characters growth as you go along?

Pls help I feel lost 😭

Knightess Sketch (traditional art)

Messy knightess sketch. Fun fact, she actually can’t take off her helmet (it’s sealed to her neck) but if she could she’d probably look like this. Maybe gonna do some mild redesigns to her armor as well. Figured it might be fun to return to traditional art. I am very out of practice lol

Question about Seasonal Politics

So, Wings of Starlight establishes the presence of the Ministers and how Lord Milori being changed from a Warden to a Lord is significant. but are there any other Lords and Ladies of the Seasons? People who are more permanent in their locations to help the seasonal fairies? I know Bleakwatch established that society has a king but that’s a different situation.

I’m not sure, I’m probably overthinking it but given how much weight it was given it leads me to believe that maybe there were at some point

Periwinkle sketch

Well, I read a review about wings of reverie on here and it does not seem like anything I’m interested in regarding the Disney fairies franchise. Allegedly the romantic interest and Peri have somewhat of a…dark/toxic romance going on. That undercuts the joy, love, and whimsy I come for in the world of pixie hollow.

As a result I have deleted my old drawing and am retooling my illustration to be another different picture now. Learned my lesson about drawing fanart of a book that’s not out yet 😅. This illustration will be about an animal friend and animal fairy Periwinkle grows close to instead now. My girl deserves a Tales from Pixie Hollow illustration and to be treated well/be happy

What do you think is the most exciting and most disappointing part of the Detective Grimoire Series?

I find so much about this series to be really exciting! I really like that sci-fi-esque and supernatural stuff just exist in the universe and it makes me excited to theorize what creature will be next. Bigfoot? The Loch Ness Monster? The Chupacabra? The possibilities are endless and given how well it worked in mermaid's mask, I'm excited to see more! I also am excited that characters of color were able to make it into the cast and it worked so well despite the simplistic art style they often use! I also love how each game seems to be getting wittier/more clever, and we're seeing a connection between all the characters per game. Seeing the family tree, while being a little bit too self referential initially for my taste, feels like it'll be important in one of the later games (if they keep making them). That ending cutscene makes me hopeful every game will have someone come back somehow.

My only real disappointment in the series came after playing Secret of the Swamp. They leaned really heavily into the little girl being Grimoire's sidekick and I didn't really get the vibe Sally wanted to get into detective work in the same capacity, outside of hating the swamp and teasing Grimoire's somewhat messy method of investigating and cataloguing. If they ever decided to remake that game, I'd like it if they foreshadowed Sally joining more and changed the final line to be her's instead of the little girl's.

While I understand why they cut the little girl due to her not fitting well into the story of Tangle Tower, I'm a little bummed that her and Officer James are not even passively mentioned in that game onwards. I could buy that Grimoire earned enough from game 1 to start being a freelance/private detective instead of being a detective who works for the government/police, but I wish that information was shown to us somehow in a visual. Like, I'd really love a scene where we get to see that Officer James adopted the little girl or something and we get to see/hear them in a call or post credits scene. They don’t need to be a part of the narrative anymore, but I’d like some closure regarding why they’re gone now outside of “they served their purpose, we don’t need to acknowledge them anymore.”

Detective Grimoire x Slay the Princess fanart

Insomnia strikes again…*sigh*, anyhow, I’ve been fawning over the new Detective Grimoire game, the mermaid’s mask, so far. Haven’t reached the ending but I’ve heard the twist is better for this game over the last one ha ha (no shade I promise!) So I decided to do a crossover with slay the princess bc why not?

I’m surprised how amazing SFB games output is! So far there’s been almost no misses!

*P.S.: sorry the image didn‘t upload properly the first time 😅

Were bathhouses open 24/7 in 1940s America?

I’ve been trying to do as much research as I can about this subject because it’s relevant in something I’m writing, but information on the subject has been limited at best. Some sources say that bathhouses were publicly funded and there were no private bathhouses, but some sources say there were private bathhouses or at least private rooms. But nothing mentions the general hours they were open and closed. I assume late at night or early in the morning they’d be closed to clean everything, correct?

General information about plumbing is vague as well, as the best I can find is running water become more common in the 1950s and 60s. While every house had a bathtub, that does not seem to count apartments.

I know this is somewhat of an odd/hyperspecific question, but it is information I felt like I’d have the best hope finding answers to here. If you could point me to a source I’d really appreciate that!

(Spoilers) Fae Trapped’s new episode

The new episodes of Fae Trapped have been especially hard hitting. That scene with the stone guard falling apart was really sweet and West’s powers are so cool!

Also, seeing how West and Elowen are getting to know each other’s pasts and how well they compliment each other is really interesting. I also really like how this body swap somewhat explores the idea of it being confusing as the lines between yourself and them become a bit more blurred, it’s a really interesting concept I hope Instantmiso leans into more as the series continues.

A lot of Instantmiso’s work really impresses me because initially I’m interested in the story and the concept itself before the characters and themes get more explored and you see something very poignant.

I sincerely hope that Instantmiso makes more comics so long as she’s comfortable/happy doing it. Not only because her work is gorgeous, but because she has such a powerful but subtle way of telling hard hitting fantasy stories.

Apotheosis in beach outfit (rough draft)

He’s tired from a long day at the beach. Decided to draw this because I hit a funk this morning and ‘cause I felt like the apotheosis’s outfit basically already looks like a swimsuit. Maybe sometime I’ll finish it or draw the other princesses in swimsuits for the summer ha ha. I hope y’all like it!

Reading YA books again in my 20s has borderline given me an existential crisis on what even is a good book.

In a good way I think.

Re-reading a lot of both new and old series that have gotten popular or were popular has been interesting because, while I have read several that are not necessarily high quality writing or art, I've honestly had quite a bit of fun with them. Like, I enjoyed reading several of them more than I've enjoyed books that are probably objectively better. And I understand a lot of the appeal of several YA books perfectly, even it doesn't resonate for me or a lot of them stumble in their execution. Maybe it's because so many YA books are so hopeful, idk. Plus, I tend to enjoy the books that don't take themselves overly seriously, as sometimes books like that can feel pretentious to me if the characters, plot, or message aren't all that deep or fall apart if you think about it. My only real critique of the YA genre outside of what I'll call "beginner writer syndrome" is sometimes I feel like several YA books get dragged out into a series when they really don't need to be. Like, it doesn't need to be a 3+ book series all the time authors, sometimes 1 or 2 is enough. That or sometimes I feel like some books are kinda mid or don't live up to their fullest potential.

But for some reason, even though these books are generally pretty fun and a lot of them have good ideas, I feel like a lot of YA is dismissed as trash or "ruining literature." But I feel like I've read several books for adults that are popular but also far worse quality stories or more problematic than some of the popular YA books I read. I think I've learned reading a lot of YA recently that professional writers can have a excellent way of writing but have weaknesses when it comes to the overall story, and amateur writers can be good storytellers but fall short when it comes to their writing. It isn't a perfect metric. Usually books aimed for older audiences have more robust world-building and better prose, and as a result YA can feel a little weaker at points, but sometimes I like that YA feels deeply invested in the drama, tragedy, or love. Sometimes light angst that isn't overly expositional is fun to read. So I'm baffled that something that is mid at worst is treated as somehow beneath adult books and classics (and some kids books even) I've straight up disliked. It's made me wonder how you even determine what is and isn't good quality or taste.

I do understand the impulse to want to reward better writers more with more popularity, I've resented certain stories not so much for what they are but how they are constantly glazed with no constructive criticism being permitted in the discussion or fan space. I do agree we should reward high quality books from professional writers too. It sucks that a lot of professional writers are being barred off from a larger audience in favor of what's the most profitable in the book industry. But I think it should be more acceptable to just have some fun novels (popcorn books) that aren't that deep and don't pretend to be without those who made it and those who enjoyed it being shamed. It's okay for people to hate YA, but I think dismissing the whole genre as terrible and "not real books" is really closed minded.

Idk, I'm probably going off on too long of a tirade or preaching to the choir, but I wanted to know if fellow YA readers get what I'm saying or feel the same? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
