Where are the clients who aren’t looking for the cheapest option? And does cold email still work in 2026?

We’re a small two-person design and dev studio, coming up on our first year.

With AI, more small businesses just do it themselves now. We’re trying to find the ones who still want it done properly and right now we’re doing outreach to reach them. It’s early and I’d rather learn from people who’ve been at this longer than keep guessing.

A few things I’d like to know:

  1. Where do your better clients come from - outbound, referrals, partnerships, inbound?
  2. Does cold email still work in 2026 or has AI-written outreach killed it?
  3. How do you open a first message with something specific you noticed on their site or straight to what you offer?
  4. Do you attach an example or a mockup or is that a waste of time?
  5. How many do you send a day?
  6. Any tools you’d recommend?

Happy to share what we’re sending if it’s useful to pick apart. Thanks 🙏🏻

Anyones data fixed yet? Firebase and Play Console still don’t match

Following up on my post from a couple of weeks ago - has anyone’s Play Console data started working properly?
Mine is still all over the place. Firebase shows 99 active users over the last 30 days, but Play Console shows only 12 installs and the store listing says 5+. Monthly active devices shows 3, which matches nothing at all.
I know Firebase and Play Console measure slightly different things, but this feels like too big a gap to be normal.
Is anyone else seeing numbers this far apart, or has it settled down for you by now? 😩

u/Spurginukas — 4 days ago

Launched July 22, Play Console still shows 0 downloads.

My app has been live since July 22 and the Google Play Console still shows 0 downloads. Nothing has updated since launch..

Firebase tells a different story - 49 users so far, and someone even sent a small donation to support the app, which honestly surprised me the most. So people are clearly finding it and using it.

Still waiting for accurate data. Has anyone had this resolve on its own, or did the numbers eventually backfill once it started working? 🥹

Here’s the app: JusyFocus

Launched focus app on Google Play.

Hey! 🤍

Just launched JustFocus, a minimal focus timer. It went the full journey - started as sketch, then Figma, then Android Studio, and now it’s live on Google Play.

The idea was to keep it as simple as possible: pick what you’re focusing on, set a session and it tracks your progress. No ads, no registration - I stripped all of that out on purpose so it’s as frictionless as possible to actually use. The only thing I added is an optional “Buy me a coffee” button for anyone who wants to support the development, but it’s completely optional.

It’s very much a work in progress, I already have a list of improvements planned and I’d genuinely love feedback to help shape where it goes next. Every comment helps.
Would love for you to try it and tell me what you think 🤍

Free logo redesign concepts for 2-3 small businesses this week (portfolio project)

Hi everyone,

I run a small design & dev studio, and I have some open time this week. I’d like to offer free logo redesign concepts for 2-3 small businesses with an existing (but outdated) logo.

How it works:

• Comment or DM your business name and current logo
• I’ll pick 2-3 that feel like a good fit
• I’ll create a quick redesign concept based on your current logo
• No obligation to use it - if you like it, we can talk about a full project. If not, no worries

In exchange, I’d just ask to:

• Feature the redesign in my portfolio and social media, with a mention of your business (or anonymized if you prefer).

Drop your business name/Instagram below or DM me. Happy to answer questions! 🤍

I turned my Figma design into a real focus app

Hey everyone,

A few months ago JustFocus was just a Figma file. This week it went live on Google Play. 🙌🏻
It’s a minimal focus timer, built simple: pick what you’re focusing on (study, work, personal), choose a session length, and it tracks your sessions and stats over time. No account, no ads, data stays on your device.

I’ve already got improvements planned, but I’d genuinely love feedback from people who actually use focus tools - what works, what’s missing, what would make you keep coming back. I’m treating this as a work in progress and every bit of input helps it get better.

Thanks 🤍JustFocus - Google Play

How long until first install numbers show up in Play Console?

Hi everyone,

I launched my app yesterday morning and I’m still seeing dashes instead of numbers in the Installs section - it just says “Data is not yet available.”
Firebase Analytics is already showing active users, so I know people are downloading and opening it.

But Play Console hasn’t caught up yet.
How long does it usually take for the first install stats to appear? Is 24h+ normal, or something misconfigured?

Thanks!

“MRCC Inspection Required” appeared 10 min after a rock chipped my windshield, related or coincidence?

2015 Mazda 6. Yesterday a small rock hit the driver’s side of the windshield and left a tiny chip/scratch. About 10 minutes later the dash showed “MRCC Inspection Required” and “FOW Inspection Required” with the orange radar-car warning.
Could the impact have knocked the forward camera out of alignment, or is this just a coincidence?
Has anyone had this clear on its own, or did it need a dealer recalibration? Thanks!

Is Makarska worth visiting in June?

Hey! 👋🏻
We’re planning our first trip to Croatia in June and thinking about staying in Makarska for 4–5 days. Is it worth it as a base? How crowded does it get in June, already peak season or still manageable?
Also wondering if there’s enough to do for 4–5 days (beaches, boat trips, nearby places, hikes, etc.) or should we combine it with another area?
And finally, where would you recommend staying, Makarska town itself or nearby smaller villages?
Thank you!
