Hey, My name is Aaron and I am building something to make meeting people for activities easier in Sydney

I am a solo founder based in Australia, and I have been in the exact position of struggling to meet people and find new connections. I know that snappy opening messages and profiles are not the best way to really get to know someone.

I have spent 5 months building Eventi, a platform that helps you connect by making it about the activity and not the person. With the mission of encouraging in-person experience as a way to connect, I think people connect better when they are not performing and instead focus on doing the things they actually like.

The app is very simple; you can join or create rooms for activities such as hiking, going to the food market, checking out an event, and then jump into a group chat to get to know them and coordinate the meetup.

There are music events, sporting events, comedy, and trivia, all built with community and connection in mind, meaning you find others who are keen to go if you're in a position where you don't want to have to go solo.

When you create a room, people nearby and based on matching interests get notified that a new activity has opened up, and they can join.

Safety is also baked into it - so feel free to ask any questions.

This is FREE, so for the record, I am not selling anything! I'm sharing my solution to a problem I have personally struggled with.

I would like to hear your thoughts. Reach out, I feel like this is a community worth sharing this in.

For those with Android, it is launching this week, so you can sign up for the waitlist on the website. Eventi is live on the App Store.

Do you think Australia has a loneliness epidemic?

Follow-up question: Do you think the younger generation is the hardest hit? What are the biggest drivers of it? Let's do a social survey here in the comments.

NEW UPDATE: For people who want make friends before the event (read caption)

Hey, just wanted to post a quick update for anyone who is following what I am doing.

My name is Aaron, and I am a solo founder in Melbourne, building Eventi, a platform that helps people connect around music events and find community. I just released an update that makes it easier to jump into event chats and meet others who are planning to go, or who are already there.

I built it because a lot of people are feeling more disconnected, while also wanting more real-world connections and in-person experiences. I think music events are one of, if not the best, way to meet people, and Melbourne is one of the best cities for it in the world imo.

I think this community showed a lot of interest in what I was doing, so I wanted to update you guys and get your honest thoughts on this concept. Please let me know what you think or how I can make it better.

Whilst I think music will have the most active community in those chats, this also applies to sports (I use Ticketmaster as an event source, along with those who sign up), so you can join AFL event chats, also any trivia, comedy, and whatever event is featured.

And, because I know a lot of you have Android, happy to say that the Android release should be out soon! (pending Google Play review).

Hey, I’m Aaron, Melbourne-based and currently building a social meetup platform to encourage more people to go out and experience what Australia has to offer.

Recently added a new feature to help make Melbourne’s bars, clubs, and music venues more discoverable based on what they actually offer. Things like live music, atmosphere, trivia nights, pool tables, etc. The stuff people usually go out looking for.

Not trying to sell anything, just looking to connect with people in the scene and get a few venues involved early.

Already chatting to several venues who are keen, so if you run one or know someone who does and would be keen to be featured, feel free to reach out.

Cheers
