My scorecard from my first visit to Coors (August 17, 2026)

Coors is amazing. I got to sit behind some season ticket holders who were ready to erupt if Diaz managed to give up the lead In the 9th, and next to some California expats rooting for the Dodgers.

I didn't know that Sugano's warmup song was Katy Perry.

Asked my usher some questions about Coors, like what the 16 flags behind the Rockpile represent and how many peeps are manning the scoreboard in right center field.

I like how the Coors game crew doesn't feel like they have to fill every moment with loud noises and can let the crowd naturally react to game situations. It's really nice to hear ambient crowd noise more than artificial pep squad music all the time.

I scored pitcher stats with the opposing teams, because in my personal scorebook, I keep track of pitcher performance by inning, and it's just faster to put pitcher stats on the opposing team hitter stats so I don't need to flip back and forth during an inning change.

Was a bit disappointed to find out that Helton's and Walker's statue were not complete. Was also a bit disappointed that I was only able to explore the stadium for about an hour before first pitch. Wish the concession stands all had disposable cups so they could give out free ice.

These are minor complaints tho. Hope this won't be the last time I see a game at Coors! Sorry about the stream of consciousness writing!

Dodgers (11) @ Rockies (5) August 17, 2026 using stadium scorecards

On my first visit to Coors, I decided to do what I did at Dodger Stadium: score using a stadium scorecard (costs a dollar or two at select merchandise stands, they'll even accept cash (!!!) at the team store)

You guys might appreciate my addenda in the lower left hand corner of each scorecard.

I scored on my normal scorebook too, but I wanted to show off the stadium cards instead.

I got a chuckle out of the outdated roster for the Dodgers: both Dodger catchers listed were not active, and Michael Lorenzen had been dfa or released a day or two before this game (sad about this one cuz I remember him from his time with the Angels)

Also got some first game certificates, but you guys don't need to see my first name. :D

Brewers (4) @ Dodgers (1) August 15, 2026 using stadium scorecards

I still use my own scorebook, but maybe peeps would like to look at the scorecards of other stadiums?

For Dodger Stadium, the usher for my section was nice enuff to get me a printed scorecard that stadium personnel get...which is filled out with player info, unlike the blank scorecards they give out at fan service booths. The scorecard is a bit cramped for my taste, but I appreciate the sentiment.

I scored pitchers with their own teams, which is a departure from my usual process of scoring pitcher performance with the opposing teams.

Technical question: why is there a delay for streamed broadcasts over analog broadcasts?

I know there is a delay between when an event is reported over terrestrial radio and when it gets reported over the streaming version of the same radio.

I also notice when I'm at a game and the game video feeds shown on televisions throughout the stadium are behind the live point of the game.

Anyone know the technical reason for these delays?

Question for those who participate in those stadium games in between innings

Participants in those games at Dodger Stadium usually get something in an envelope, implied to be printed tickets for a future game, but the contents are never shown.

What actually is the contents in those envelopes? Actual printed tickets? A piece of paper with a QR code and instructions on how to get the tix in the ballpark app? Something else?

Mariners (7) @ Dodgers (6) scorecard

I was at the game on July 28th 2026, and found it really strange that the Mariners started a sub 200 hitter as DH.

This was my second Mariners game this year, my previous game was during rivalry week when the Padres were up in Seattle.

Mariners are 1-1 for games I've been to.

The folded over corner has something that I don't want to show anymore online.

Question about that Rockies celebration after base hits

Sorry for the boomer questions in advance.

For context, it's that celebration that kind of looks like the Monkey while squatting.

  1. What is the celebration actually called?

  2. Are there any vocals that go along with it?

Thoughts about the CBA and the three peat

Asking this here, because I thought it would get a little more dispassionate analysis here than on the baseball subreddit.

So, it's fairly obvious that the owners are milking the crap out of the Dodgers winning consecutive World Series to push for a salary cap for competitive balance purposes, even though it is fairly obvious that the salary cap is really intended to more accurately estimate the cost of a franchise for owners.

However, the commercials from MLB in support of the salary cap for competitive balance made me think of the following hypothetical scenario. If the Dodgers did not win the National League pennant this year, could that event completely destroy the "competitive balance" argument for a salary cap and guarantee baseball to start on time in 2027?

It's an interesting scenario, because it ties the salary cap to the Dodgers winning another World Series.

[Highlight] 4 year anniversary of Tyler Anderson throwing a charging Ian Happ off of home plate (July 8, 2022)

This play turned me into a Tyler Anderson superfan. You don't see plays like this anymore!

Rockies (4) Dodgers (3) July 7, 2026 scorecard (incomplete)

I was at the game on July 7th, and this was the scorecard I kept. The scorecard is incomplete because my ride needed to leave the game early, but the score by the time I had to leave my seat ended up being the final score.

I can complete this scorecard from MLB Gameday, but my scorecard is more meant to be a souvenir of my time at the stadium than a clone of Gameday.

I was a bit confused about how to score the eighth inning fiasco.

Of the three game series at Dodger Stadium, this game was the one I was expecting the Rockies to get blown out, so I'm glad I was wrong.

Rockies (7) Dodgers (8) July 6, 2026 Double feature!

The printed cards are from Lisa, a friend I made while scoring the game in the row ahead of me, and graciously allowed me to photograph. The homemade cards are mine, and I didn't have room for extra innings. :(

We both were confused by the double play in the top of the sixth and I actually missed the play that tied the game at the top of the ninth, because a dumbass in the row behind me was making a big deal about petty stuff.

The printed cards are from Lisa, a friend I made while scoring the game in the row ahead of me, and graciously allowed me to photograph. The homemade cards are mine, and I didn't have enough room for extras. :(

I like stamping my scorecards with the Ballpark passport stamp on the home team's scorecard, if the stadium cooperates.

I was also keeping score of how many Rockies apparel I saw at the game tonight.

Padres (5) Dodgers (2) July 5, 2025

Still figuring out this Reddit thing.

I prefer the uncluttered old Reddit user interface, but the new one allows the upload of more than one image for a post.

I was trying to figure out when Team Mexico scored on England based on crowd reactions, haha.

Anyone going to the series in Los Angeles?

I am!

I'm projecting that the Rockies take one easy...that July 8th game is purpose built for a Rockies win if the bullpen can finish what Feltner starts.

I have some familiarity with the east side of Los Angeles and the parking situation of Dodger Stadium as well.

Why is left field considered an "easier" position than right field?

Apologies for the wall of text in advance.

Context Point 1: I remember a book from my childhood (Upchuck Summer) where the main character got really mad at his summer camp baseball coach putting him in right field when he really wanted to play shortstop. I do remember the main character treating right field as where they put people who can't field at all.

Context Point 2: I happen to follow the Dodgers, and I also happen to know that Teoscar Hernandez is the weakest defensive outfielder the Dodgers have. Yet, they don't put the weakest outfielder in right, they put him in left.

I assumed that right field might be considered the weakest position since that is usually where lefties hit to, and lefties are rarer than right handed hitters, especially in lower leagues. Even if lefties are less rare at major league level, I can't imagine that the amount of major league lefty hitting suddenly makes left field the weaker position.

In closing, I do not understand why left fielders are considered the least skilled of the outfielders. Is my reasoning for why right field may be considered a weaker position at lower levels correct based on how rare lefty hitters are at younger levels?
