having a blast 1st time watching Harold Lloyd's "SPEEDY" (1928)

i was fortunate enough to see Harold Lloyd's silent-shorts during the 70s & 80s on UK's BBC2 when they broadcast them monday-to-friday after children's tv at 5:30-6pm.
I was hooked!
I don't fully remember ow many if any features of Lloyd's I got to see, but his morning I unexpectedly chose to search AppleTV & found 2 on TUBI UK & 2 on Prime UK to stream, & there are others to buy or rent.
SPEEDY was such a surprise & delight: NYC & Coney Island on film in 1928 was a revelation: the rides looks treacherous to lethal! the food & prizes amazing. & NYC looks so busy on foot, horseback, carriage, taxi & car!
great gags abound, the performances & timings are impressive, & Babe Ruth makes his acting debut! & very convincing he was too!

BBC Radio3 & BBC Sounds - BBC Proms

I cannot recommend this highly enough! if you can't attend London's ROYAL ALBERT HALL, then this is the best thing you can do. i'm listening daily of a morning & it is setting me & my day up brilliantly every day: against the heat, against the drudge, against the apathy, these curated programmes of seemingly disparate compositions just open the ears, breathe fresh inspiration into your cerebral cortex, & blast the worlds' problems up in vapour. enjoy!

Jeff Wayne - The Eve of the War (Official Audio) ft. Richard Burton, Justin Hayward

no-one would have believed, that, in the earliest days of the twentieth century, across the vastness of space, brains immeasurably superior to our own, had fixed their hungry eyes upon us, & slowly, quietly they drew their plans against us...

database of clinical trials?

does anyone know of a central or various lists/database of clinical trials to self-refer onto?
specifically for EMDR trials? if you've heard of any such thing.

TIA.

i just learned of one such in Bristol that wasn't sent to my GP's surgery, so now i'm doing the leg-work myself, between boughts of cPTSD, looking for something, anything I can access.

many thanks.

2000's X-MEN missing / absent form Avengers:DOOMSDAY

we've heard from Famke & Halle, separately, their disappointment & frustration at not being written into Avengers:Doomsday, but have we had any word from the production team as to why they have been omitted?
TIA

clarification: seeing as my post yesterday caused such consternation: serials I would pay £££s to see returned / completed / restored / animated (in release order not preference)

merely posting my enjoyment of THE WHEEL IN SPACE yesterday appeared to illicit outrage & consternation, horror, & correction! 😜 so for clarification, here are the serials i'd like to see restored with animation, or preferably original footage. I only omit St Bartholomew's Eve because... well, i just don't get on with the audio-recording release on CD 🤦‍♂️
in personal order of preference, i'd love to see colour-animation versions of:

  1. Marco Polo
  2. The Highlanders
  3. Myth Makers
  4. Crusade
  5. The Wheel in Space
mainly because of the sumptuous production- & set-design & costumes for the main 4 serials. to clarify i want Wheel restored for the same reason as Highlanders - it's Zoe's introduction story, as Highlanders is for Jamie.

one day I will pay £££s to see The WHEEL in SPACE recreated with animation!!!

or better still the missing four episodes uncovered & returned, scanned & upscaled to bluray/4K. it's such a great premise from Kit Pedler, David Whitaker was one of Classic Who's strongest writers, & this script is superb (despite some performances attempting to over-egg it!), I love this third version of the C-Men, & Zoe / Jamie / 2nd Dr combo is just mint. strongest for me of the 60s. i'm so very glad we have 2 episodes on Lost In Time, & the full audio on CD. luvvit. 9/10 from me.

Ancient trees, missing data, and the fight over Bristol Airport’s planned expansion

Bristol Airport doesn't need more aeroplanes, it doesn't need more flights: it needs to plant 100s of kilometres of forest surrounding its horrifically polluting business. pls support Bristol Tree Forum however you can: Bristol needs more mature, pollution-scrubbing, shade-providing, temperature-reducing trees.

Second Opinion on Trust's refusal to diagnose & treat my cPTSD

does any member have any experience &/or advice on my requesting a Second Opinion on my cPTSD treatment?
my Trust has refused to acknowledge my GP & VitaMinds' assessment of my ill mental health condition as cPTSD.
The Trust refuse to treat me other than with Duloxetine, despite previous 15 sessions of NHS EMDR through VitaMinds proving extremely therapeutic.
they have written that "if you are still unhappy" with their final decision to contact NHS Ombudsman.
3.5 yrs finally knowing this is cPTSD, after misdiagnosis = mis-treatment since 2005, & i am at my wits' end unable to access treatment / potential cure.
TIA for any / all genuine Second Opinion advice.

JKRowling lashes out in spite by dead-naming & UPSKIRTING Freda Wallace

so bitter & twisted has our most prominent TERF become that she throws a(nother) tantrum on X that is tantamount to her being written up on the Sex Offenders' Register for upskirting! she is a deranged sicko of the lowest order...

DYK: BONNIE TYLER recorded THE BEST & 2 other UK number 1 songs before they were the hits for other artists that we know?

this is the first recording of THE BEST, found & bought by Bonnie's team in 1986/7 for her album Hide Your Heart: Tina Turner's is almost a carbon-copy, as no-one knew how to record it after Desmond Child spent 6 weeks working on this version.
imagine finding such a banger? spending those many hours in the studio, everyone playing their best thrashing out a brand new song that no-one had heard other than composers Holly Knight & Mike Chapman, & NO-ONE in 1988 played it on the radio. no-one. if flopped. splat.

only for it then to become Tina's signature hit only a year later... heartbreaking. thankfully, Tina was Bonnie's idol, so there was no animosity. just fury directed towards CBS who just didn't understand the talent they had in Bonnie & the number 1 hit they had on their hands.

do you know which were the other two songs on Bonnie's 1988 album HIDE YOUR HEART that made number 1 in the UK chart for other arists after Bonnie & Desmond had recorded them?

Evil is Dead Again

having me an Evil Dead, Evil Dead2, Army of Darkness, Evil Dead Rise friday-night-fright mini-marathon ahead of seeing Evil Dead Burn: i've seen ED 1, 2 & AoD before, but only this time am i truly appreciating Cabin in The Woods also: Drew Goddard knew what he was doing with that exploratory homage. & it's great to see Sam's vision showcasing new directors, 2 of whom have gone on the create huge instalments in flagging-franchises: Fede Alvarez!
