More Rhodie 6 propaganda

Decided to step out from under the tin roof for once. Being in a valley with a block wall next to you certainly carries the supersonic crack for a while.

11.5” with Tubbs flatwire spring and VLTOR A5H4 buffer

Got a couple of 11.5's together yesterday. Rhodie 6 & CAT WB

Met up with a buddy yesterday… Felt wrong having these 2 so close 🤣. Rhodie 6 was noticeably quieter.

Some ROF Testing with A5 Buffer Extension, Tubb Flatwire and KynShot RB5007 Hydraulic Buffer on my 11.5”

Gun is a 11.5" with AS Designs ARC Fire v2 and Ridgeback Rhodie 6. Last range test I was running ~867RPM suppressed with the Carbine tube, Carbine spring and Steel bodied carbine buffer with 3 tungsten weight (7.8oz)

Swapped to the A5 extension, Tubb Flatwire AR15 Spring and the KynShot RB5007 and went back out to the range today with my ROF tool (Post)

With the A5, Flatwire and RB5007 suppressed ROF went from 867 to 725. ROF GUI guessed 722 from the video, I'll take a 3rpm difference as being pretty accurate. Unsuppressed was 669.

For kicks I swapped the RB5007 out for the 7.8oz heavy buffer and use a 2.5oz spacer to be able to run it in the A5 tube. It ran 758 suppressed and 628 unsuppressed. At 10.3oz of total mass I wasn't totally surprised that it ran slower unsuppressed. I was however surprised as how the RB5007 stayed more consistent between unsuppressed and suppressed, I guess that is the hydraulics at work 🙂

I was having an issue with the RB5007 and the bolt locking open on last round, I have a Tubbs lightweight spring on order to see if it helps. I really liked how smooth the hydraulic buffer felt so I really want to get it working.

Here is a video from the hydraulic buffer tests. Didn't get video from the heavy buffer as we had a guy talking our ears off 😛

Range day with the SL-15 and some classics.

Always fun letting people check out the printed stuff.

Work in progress. Working on an eventually open source project to record ROF/Cyclic rate from accelerometer data. First range test today!

ROF GUI is nice but acoustics throw its detection off pretty easily. Decided to see if I could record cyclic rate using an IMU instead. Using this M5StickCPlus2 I had laying around I went up today and recorded some FRT strings with known round counts and gave the raw data to Claude. I told it the round count of the first dataset and it used that data to correctly guess the round count from the second set I gave it. It created a script to calculate ROF based on that sample data.

So far it seems like this will work and I’m looking forward to using it more as I change out parts to try and get the cyclic rate down. I have an A5 buffer tube and RB5007 Kynshot buffer sitting here, waiting for my Tubb flatwire spring to show up.

I’m sure this is very tuned to my gun/where it’s mounted so I’m hoping I can implement auto tuning eventually.

Steel body GMR buffer with H3 tungsten weights testing in 11.5" AR15. 7.8oz Carbine length. Anyone else running this heavy?

I have an 11.5” AR15 with arc fire v2 trigger and a Ridgeback Rhodie 6 suppressor. It runs good with an H3 and carbine spring but ROF is a little higher than I would like. I have this GreyMarketResearch steel buffer here so today I took them apart and weighed all the pieces.

Both buffers weighed 5.4oz. The body of the GMR is 3.2oz and the weight stack is 2.0oz. The body of the H3 is 0.9oz and the weight stack is 4.4oz. The GMR buffer doesn’t run in my setup and the H3 runs perfectly due to the larger sliding mass. When I put the H3’s weight stack in the GMR steel body the whole stack weighs 7.8oz.

Ran up to the range today to see if it would run with it. Had no problems with the bolt locking back and it seemed like it was a bit slower before

The ROF GUI says it was about 100rpm slower. I don’t remember how many I had in the magazine before to check if it was getting all the shots but I know today was 10 rounds.

Not sure if I should be running something so heavy in a carbine tube/spring or if I should just suck it up and go to an A5.

Here is a video of the H3 vs the 7.8oz

Seems we’re doing two stamp Tuesday

Seems like we’re doing the thing. The KES was a pain to get to fit right with the AP5P and it’s still pretty rough but the vibes are right.

Late night range trip with the new suppressed 11.5” AR15 setup.

Rhodie 6 got picked up yesterday, ran home and threw the Comstock recessed hub mount on with a drop of Rocksett and cured for 15 mins at 175F in a filament dryer. Buddy wanted to go up to the range last night and do some night time shooting. Wasn’t sure if the Rhodie would live up to the Guntube hype but god damn did it sound amazing and is really good at throwing gas forward.

First 2 videos are the same shots just from 2 different perspectives/phones, last bit is what happens when you take the can off and run the Recessed Microbrake 😂

On my 11.5” I thought it sounded great, We were shooting under a tin roof too. Bonus clip at the end of what happens when I remove the can and just run the Comstock microbrake 😂

It may not be the biggest and best PDP optic, but it’s by far the best looking

Follow up to ARC v2 troubleshooting on 11.5” with GreyMarketResearch buffer

Following up to my original post

https://www.reddit.com/r/supersafety/s/FX6LbuTDsO

Huge thanks to u/KAK_INDUSTRY for replying to my post with such a detailed breakdown of why the GMR buffer wasn’t good for this setup and MASSIVE thanks to u/Pristine-Celery-867 who recognized the range I was shooting at and reached out and offered to meet me there to try some of his buffers. We met up tonight and spoiler alert… it was the buffer. It ran with an H marked buffer as well as an aluminum/tungsten H3. All these videos were with the H3.
