A volunteer’s reflection on Iran, persistence, and hope

A volunteer’s reflection on Iran, persistence, and hope

Hello everyone,

I hope you are doing well. I have something I would like to share and mention to you.

While taking a break from studying today, I came across this post in De Volkskrant:
https://www.volkskrant.nl/binnenland/grote-ophef-over-bezoek-zoon-iraanse-sjah-aan-den-haag-legitimatie-van-autocratie~b74fcd81/

For those who don’t know, De Volkskrant is a major newspaper in the Netherlands. If you don’t understand Dutch, you can translate the article into English using Google Translate or a browser translation extension.

HRH Reza Pahlavi will be visiting my hometown, The Hague. One of the people who reportedly lobbied for his visit is from the PPFD / VVD, a Dutch political party.

When I started volunteering for Iran, I sent dozens of emails to the PPFD / VVD, and they are generally supportive of the Iranian cause. I don’t know if this development is connected to my efforts, but I interpret it as a possible positive outcome of my volunteering work.

This shows me that if you work persistently toward a goal, you may eventually achieve it. I’m happy to see that my volunteering efforts might be having a positive impact and could be leading to real results.

The past year, especially my school year, has been mentally challenging. This was further amplified by a severe storm in the city in Turkey where my ethnic roots are. The damage in the city was significant. Additionally, my uncle sadly passed away from cancer, which caused me a lot of grief.

However, this grief, sadness, and stress did not stop me from standing up for good causes and for Iran and its people. I was still able to continue volunteering for Iran, even while dealing with stress and loss.

I am proud to stand with the Iranian people and support their cause. I will continue doing this in my free time, and I am announcing that I will write another round of emails to all Dutch political parties, the Dutch government, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

Let’s remain optimistic, even though the situation can be difficult and mentally challenging. Let’s keep hope, stay committed, and continue on our path without looking back. We need to remain steady and decisive in our actions so that they benefit Iran and its people.

In the end, I hope all efforts will turn into meaningful, important, and positive results.

A letter of solidarity by Iran and it's people by me, Stuwaat

Hello r/NewIran!

I'm very much aware of the protests and the violence towards those protestors in Iran and right now these events aren't something ignorable.

I can't pretend that there happens nothing in Iran and move on with my life with the news that I see regularly on different channels on TV and sources online.

I want firstly to say that express my unconditional solidarity, respect and support towards Iran and it's citizens fighting for a free democratic Iran and the Iranian diaspora abroad in different countries also doing the same for Iran.

Your reasons to protest and going on the street is very much valid. The Iranian Rial is (almost) worthless, the economy of Iran is doing (very) bad and Iran is (somewhat) isolated from the world because of sanctions and other things prevent Iran to participate in the world and the global economy but that's not it.

The reason, the culprit behind this is the Islamic Republic, the ayatollah and the Iranian government. I condemn the existence of a Islamic Republic, not just in Iran but in any country in the world. It goes just too far and the Sharia had very bad consequences for the people in Iran and other Islamic republics.

I say this as a someone who is from a moderate Muslim family. Islam isn't a issue. You can have any religion you want or believe in nothing at all, pray regularly and be absolutely devoted to your religion the case of Iran is that the will or a small group of people is laid upon the entire population. That small group wants the population to bend to their will which isn't realistic. It's absolutely no option to lay down the will of a certain group to the entire population of a country.

Again, a Islamic Republic goes too far in my opinion. It's unsustainable way of governance especially when there are people with other religions in a country or atheists which is the case with Iran. Also a Islamic Republic might (try to) destroy the culture that country has before the proclamation of a Islamic Republic.

A best way for governance of a country is secularism, religion doesn't belong in politics and in the government. I'm again opposed to Sharia, Islamic Republics, the Islamic Republic or Iran and it's government.

I've read the books Not Without My Daughter and For A Love Of A Child by Betty Mahmoody and because of those books I've a image and some knowledge how life in Iran is and how everything goes there but also what the Iranian culture is.

I can mention something from Not without my daughter, in that book the Pasdar that is a word for the IRGC (Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not Iranian or neither I live in Iran) rapes arrested women when they're about to be executed. The motto of the Pasdar or IRGC is "No women dies as a virgin".

I find this a very disturbing and disgusting practice and in Islam even this isn't approved. Also nobody should be ever executed or raped, even if they're criminals.

I very much hope that the protests lead to the downfall of the Islamic Republic or Iran and that democracy and secularism in Iran is restored.

Reza Pahlavi seems like a good guy in my opinion and view, he also stands up for Iranians who want the ayatollah and the present government gone and I'm also support his effort and work.

Although he's and would be the Shah of Iran if he returns to Iran after the fall of the regime a democratic choice would be a referendum first if the Iranians want Iran to be a monarchy or republic when the time is right.

If Iran want a monarchy, that's fine and I will support that but if they want a republic I'll also respect that too.

I really hope that the protestors will lead to the fall of the regime and that regime change takes place. Either because of the Iranian theirselves or because of foreign intervention. As long the Islamic Republic of Iran is dissolved

It's a small gesture from my side but I've changed the wallpapers on my phone and laptop to the beautiful Lion and Sun flag which will hopefully be the future flag of Iran.

Dear Iranians, hold on. Keep fighting and standing up for your country and don't be intimidated by the regime and security forces. If you hold on long enough then I believe that regime will crumble and collapse but the regime is on it's deathbed anyway.

Now there's the potential to deliver the coup de grâce, burn the regime to ashes and send those ashes to the depths of hell. Everyone from the regime and everyone still shamelessly supporting them deserves to burn eternally in hell and pay for what they did.

Lastly I want to inform everyone, especially non Iranians here to please sign this petition: [https://www.change.org/p/expel-the-islamic-republic-s-ambassadors-stop-the-crimes-against-humanity-in-iran?recruiter=104775985&recruited\\\_by\\\_id=e52ddcf0-eac2-11e3-bf69-f55a72505b80\](https://www.change.org/p/expel-the-islamic-republic-s-ambassadors-stop-the-crimes-against-humanity-in-iran?recruiter=104775985&recruited\_by\_id=e52ddcf0-eac2-11e3-bf69-f55a72505b80)

All embassies of the Islamic Republic of Iran should be close and all ambassadors and diplomats should get the fuck out and go back to Iran until Iran is democratic and secular.

Death to the ayatollah and the regime!

Long live Iran! 💚

Long live the Shah! 💚

Long live a free, democratic and secular Iran! 💚

Reaction of the European Union and the European Parliament on my email containing calls regarding Iran

Hi everyone, I've reached out to several international organizations and sent them the same email that I also sent to all Dutch political parties, the Dutch government, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (🇳🇱 The Netherlands).

If you want the email template, here it is:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NewIran/comments/1tdc0kc/reply_from_d66_the_netherlands_on_my_email_about/

The European Union and the European Parliament sent their reactions in English, so this time no translation is needed.

The general consensus in the responses I received is that there should be de-escalation and dialogue with the Islamic regime. However, as you and I may know, they are not willing to de-escalate or engage in meaningful dialogue.

Continuing on the current path may lead to further instability, and they do not appear willing to change course. Their slogans and actions suggest a preference for confrontation rather than peaceful resolution.

It is positive that there are calls to stop executions, torture, and other human rights violations committed by the regime, but more can and should be done, as I also mentioned in my email.

This is not directly related to my interaction with the European Union, but I also follow The Goldie Show by Goldie Ghamari and Iran Revolution Live by Goldie Ghamari and Armin Navabi. In the intro of Iran Revolution Live, there is a song called “Do You Know, Europe?” by Barbod.

I found it very impressive, and the first time I heard it during the intro of Iran Revolution Live—which was also the first livestream I watched—I became quite emotional. As a Dutch person, meaning I live in Europe, it resonated with me. Barbod did an amazing job on that song.

If you are interested in “Barbod – Do You Know, Europe?”, here is the link to the song on YouTube:

Lastly, if you want to discuss this post or ask questions, feel free to do so.

Reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (🇳🇱 The Netherlands) on my email containing calls regarding Iran + my follow up email

Hi everyone, I'm here once again.

I received a reply from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands 🇳🇱 some time ago, but because of my temporary Reddit-wide ban, I was unable to post it here on r/NewIran immediately. That is why I am publishing this post now.

If you want to use my email template, you can find it here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NewIran/comments/1tdc0kc/reply_from_d66_the_netherlands_on_my_email_about/

They also included an English version of their response, so I took a screenshot of it, which is what you can see in the first screenshot.

What I noticed in their response is that not a single word about Iran was written, yet they chose to talk about Israel instead.

Deep in my heart, I was deeply disappointed and angered by their reply. I could not let that slide, so I decided to send them a follow-up email.

This is the reply I sent them:

>Dear Sir/Madam,

>I have read the response to my email addressed to the Dutch Government and/or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

>I must say that I find this response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs very disappointing. Iran is not even addressed in the response; instead, the subject is immediately shifted to what is happening in Lebanon and Israel and to Israel's "human rights violations."

>It is also stated that no sanctions will be imposed on the cruel Iranian regime, neither nationally nor internationally. What the Iranian regime is currently doing in Iran, such as executing innocent civilians for standing up for their country, is downright shameful.

>I condemn the Dutch Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their lack of action regarding Iran and for merely insisting on dialogue. Recent history has shown that the Iranian regime is not willing to engage in dialogue or compromise.

>This position of the Dutch Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is therefore concerning. I want to emphasize that every day of hesitation, inadequate action, no action at all, or attempts to approach the regime through dialogue while this proves ineffective, results in people in Iran being executed.

>Time and time again, families in Iran are told that their relatives have been executed because they stood up for and protested in the interest of their country. This is painful for the surviving relatives, and it is scandalous that this is taking place at all.

>In a video message on X, HRH Reza Pahlavi stated that, with or without the support of European countries, he, together with his supporters and other Iranians, will continue to fight for a free, democratic, and secular Iran.

>I strongly urge the Dutch government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urgently review their position. If this does not happen, a future free, democratic, and secular Iran will remember this inaction by The Netherlands, and that could have adverse consequences for our country.

>

>Sincerely,

>

>Stuwaat

I have not received a response from them since I sent the follow-up email, not even after I submitted it a second time through their contact form.

If you would like to discuss this, share your thoughts, react to it, or ask me a question, please feel free to do so.

All reactions from the Dutch political parties on my email containing calls regarding Iran

Greetings everyone,

A while back, I sent a series of emails to all political parties in the Netherlands, the country where I live. I received responses from some of them, although most political parties sadly did not reply to my email.

The reason I am sharing this now is because I was temporarily banned from Reddit for 3 days after posting a comment here that violated Rule 1.

If you want to know which email template I used, here is a link to a post that is heavily based on the email I sent to all of them:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NewIran/comments/1tdc0kc/reply_from_d66_the_netherlands_on_my_email_about/

On the screenshots, you can see the original Dutch versions of their responses. Below, I will share the English translations of the replies from the Dutch political parties that responded to my email.

FVD / BBB

>Dear Stuwaat,

>Thank you very much for your detailed message.

>We share your concerns regarding the human rights situation and the violence against civilians in Iran.

>The situation in the country is serious and requires continued attention in both international and national debates.

>We have received your points and proposals in good order and have forwarded them internally.

>Kind regards,
Webcare Team

FCM / BBB

>Dear Gallagher,

>Thank you very much for taking the time to share your story with us. All information you send us is reviewed. Your message has been forwarded to the relevant policy officer responsible for this portfolio. Where appropriate, they will take the information you provided into account in the preparation of debates and assess whether it could serve as a basis for parliamentary questions or motions.

>As a parliamentary group, we aim to work towards a BBBetter Netherlands every day in as many areas as possible. This means we must allocate our limited capacity in a very targeted way. Because we receive hundreds of emails daily, this unfortunately also means that we cannot respond to all emails in detail.

>Kind regards,

FCM

PPFD / VVD

>Dear Gallagher,

>Thank you very much for your message regarding the war in Iran. It is good to know that you were able to reach us.

>We fully understand your concerns about the war in Iran. The American-Israeli invasion of Iran marks a profound new chapter in the unstable situation in the Middle East. Events are unfolding extremely rapidly, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz also has enormous consequences for the Netherlands and the EU.

>We wish to state upfront that the Iranian regime has caused significant terror within Iran. We advocate for a free and democratic Iran, without the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. That is why the VVD supported the EU designation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.

>As the PPFD, we understand the American airstrikes due to the enormous risk posed by the Iranian regime — not only for the population, who are terrorized and face violent repression, but also for the region due to the risk of Iranian nuclear weapons. The Iranian regime poses a serious threat and has shown no willingness to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

>The American and Israeli governments themselves took the initiative for this attack. The Netherlands was not involved in the attack, nor was it informed in advance. We therefore believe that the Netherlands cannot currently play a role in supporting this action. However, we remain committed to a free and democratic Iran, including through the House of Representatives. You can continue to count on us.

>I trust that I have sufficiently informed you.

>Sincerely,

>VVD Public Relations
House of Representatives of the States General

I will also receive a response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands 🇳🇱. I will share that tomorrow, or as soon as possible after that.

Feel free to comment or ask questions if you would like to.

My experience ordering the OnePlus PBSV12 Powerbank from AliExpress & AMA

Hello everyone,

I actually didn't plan on writing a post about my new power bank, but after seeing another post on AliExpress about someone receiving their package through the same shipping method, I decided to share my experience as well.

I ordered the newly released OnePlus PBSV12 power bank on AliExpress on May 4th. The first shipping method used for the package on its way to my house in the Netherlands was YFH Special Standard.

When the package arrived in the Netherlands, I immediately asked the seller on AliExpress for the last-mile tracking number, which they shared with me. That was honestly a game changer for me. In my case, the last-mile carrier was PostNL, which I was satisfied with overall.

The total delivery time from ordering until arrival in the Netherlands was 12 days. However, the package ultimately didn't arrive directly at my house because PostNL didn't even bother ringing our doorbell. Instead, they dropped the package off at a neighboring apartment, so I had to go there myself to pick it up.

After receiving the package, I unboxed it and thoroughly inspected both the packaging and the power bank itself, including all accessories. I can confirm that it is a 100% genuine OnePlus power bank.

The package includes:

  • The power bank
  • A USB-A to USB-C charging cable
  • A quick start guide
  • Safety information and the warranty card combined into one document (the safety section can be torn off separately)

I then charged the power bank to 100% and briefly tested it with my OnePlus 13. I can confirm that SuperVOOC works correctly. So if you own a OnePlus device — or another device that supports VOOC or SuperVOOC — the power bank should support those charging protocols as well.

I haven't had the chance to test the power bank thoroughly yet, and probably won't for a while. I'll be traveling to Turkey in August, so that will be the perfect opportunity to properly test it during real-world usage.

I hope my experience ordering the OnePlus PBSV12 was helpful and informative. If you have any questions, feel free to ask — this post is also an AMA at the same time.

I might be one of the first people in the Netherlands, Europe, or maybe even outside China to own this model 😄

If you also own a Honor MagicPad 4, what's the battery life and SOT that you get on your tablet?

Hi everyone,

We recently bought an Honor MagicPad 4 as a birthday gift for my mother, and she has noticed that the battery on her new tablet drains quite quickly.

The tablet is almost a week old, so we find this a bit unusual and somewhat concerning. If you are also an owner of the Honor MagicPad 4, we would love to know what kind of battery life and screen-on time (SOT) you are getting.

Thank you all in advance for your help and responses!
