What East County Pizza do you prefer?

Hey everyone!

I love the threads of "best x in San Diego" but I live in the hills above El Cajon so sometimes recs can be far outside of middle eastern food.

I think I'm going to start some "what are your favorite x in East county threads so people can search for east county specific threads; I would like La Mesa to be the furthest West for recs to be located.

With that in mind...

What are your favorite pizza joints in East County?!

Biscuit sandwich restaurant expanding to El Cajon

Looks like Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken is expanding to El Cajon.

Anyone ever eaten there before? This is my first time hearing of it, but looks like some folks are excited.

Of course, I have to remind myself that some folks get excited about Canes Chicken as well, and that was a massive disappointment.

To the woman who yelled out from her moving car to the line in front of the yogurt mill “f— you fat ass b—s” 😂: I got peanut butter yogurt with Reese’s peanut butter cups and tipped $3 bucks.

Dream recurring 3 times in one night

Very curious as to your thoughts, because I've never had the same dream 3 times in one night before.

3 separate times last night, I dreamt I was walking through the breezeway at my condo complex, and suddenly there was a man running straight towards me - FAST - with the intent of running into me and causing harm.

Each time he looked the same...a light-complected African American male in his late teens to late 20s...braids or locs in his hair.

The final time I had the dream, I woke up kicking at him.

Catch & release, but good for a laugh

Couldn't honestly give you a track listing. I was too busy laughing. There were a few other questionable records in the bin having to do with the South and Confederacy, so probably part of the same collection.

But, it could be fun to image the titles of songs you might find on this album. Don't anyone go ruining the fun by looking up the actual track listing though. No turds in the punchbowl allowed.

EDIT: If you're in Southern California and really want this, it's at Veterans Thrift in El Cajon, CA

A San Diego charter network recently spent $500,000 on a pair of ChatGPT-powered humanoid robots. Some researchers think they’re “bullshit.”

Little Buddy

This little critter was apparently hiding under my daughter's car when I moved it this morning. Appears to have been injured.

Called up the Humane Society and they came to get him. Hope everything turns out okay. Super cute!

Glitches galore

Have had two new glitches in the past two days...super fun.

  1. Sprites I picked up couldn't be equipped to my back. Glitch had been all day yesterday, and I could only equip a sprite after extraction. Honestly didn't even bother testing it today to see if it's still an issue.

  2. Today, my weapons would randomly not allow me to fire. Really came in handy when I ran across a player that easily killed me while I jumped around switching weapons to see if something might actually fire.

Hope they get this stuff fixed, because it really ruins the game.

Playing on OG Switch.

These parents - You have to laugh to stay sane

I'll try to keep this one brief...

I've been texting back & forth with the mother of a high school student for the past week or so. The exchange was prompted by me texting all families to let them know Wednesday was the last day to submit late work.

This student has not submitted a single assignment all quarter.

On Tuesday she asked me to speak to the child in class to ask about the work, which I did. The child told me they had their work at home, and promised to bring it on Wednesday.

Wednesday came and went without the student bringing me any work.

Thursday there were the following messages from the mother when I arrived to work (sent while I was in a staff meeting after school on Wednesday, but still before the deadline to submit work electronically):

"Hello. (Student name) tells me she did not deliver the work. Why does she say you didn't ask for them, but if you don't demand it, they won't do it?"

It took me about 30 minutes to develop a reply that wouldn't get me in trouble. I spoke of how I have reminded the class daily about the deadline, both in person and on Canvas.

Her reply:

"Well, you know, teenagers. But that's why I'm telling you to demand it. Because when she sees only herself like that, she only pays attention when someone demands it of her."

(Insert gif of cartoon duck smoking a joint and shaking its head in disbelief)

I replied with a generic message about how the student can take another course next year that fulfills the graduation requirement.

Student didn't attend on Thursday.
