Can do 5 pull-ups on bar but otherwise feel like I have 0 strenght. Tips?
Hello! I have been "climbing" for quite long time (~4yrs) but sometimes with very long breaks.
I have a boulder hall very close to home so whenever I was there I used to go almost everyday, progressing faster and getting stronger. I have always been a mid climber because I only climb or boulder but I never do excercises nor yoga.
I went back to climb almost a year ago (both indoor, outdoor, boulder and rope) but I feel as if I can't get any stronger and that I might even have gotten weaker.
I might have some health problems which I am getting checked that might have contributed to this.
I feel like I don't have strenght anymore: I can't pull myself up, I can't hold my body with one arm, I can't hold pinches in any size and now I can't even lift myself up on one leg. Like I am missing the explosive force (or the muscles) to do such, I would "jump" but I would just jump into my knee and not be able to get up. It is super annoying because it is required in almost any boulder, even lowest gradea, at my gym. When rope climbing my arms get sore suuuper fast and while bouldering they don't get sore at all because I miss the strenght to actually hold the holds for long.
I can do pull-ups and push ups, my friends can't do even one underhand pull up and don't believe me when I say I actually can't hold myself on the wall. 😭
And I can easily do regular squats, frog squats, etc.
I can't go to the gym because I can't afford it atm, nor buying a hangboard. I would like to improve using my bodyweight and what I already have at home: 1 hanging bar, one sand bag of 10kg and 2 5kg barbells.
Do you have any insights of something I could be missing? Or exercises suggestions I could work on at home to improve?
