16% weight reduction but roast tastes very light

16% weight reduction but roast tastes very light

i roasted 2.5 lbs of a wet hulled sumatran bean and am looking for some advice. it tastes sour and acidic despite trying to aim for a darker roast. i dropped the coffee at a bean temp of 413 F and landed at 16% weight reduction.

the coffee doesn’t taste full bodied and is quite acidic. it’s nutty which is a note i’m going for but not balanced. any advice on this roast? i’ll try to drop around 418 on the next batch and report back on the flavor.

i roast on a buckeye bc 3.5 (3.5lb capacity) and only roast in 2.5 lb batches. i did not change airflow and all temp changes are noted.

thanks for the advice in advance!

made improvements, but still need help

hey everyone! i came to this sub about a month ago needing help defining zones and getting decor for my new apartment. i got some great advice but i still need help.

i love the living room, but i feel like the dining area behind it is an abrupt stop in the walkway. the front door to the apartment is behind the couch. the wall opposite the dining table is the door to my kitchen with a small coffee bar on it.

i thought about putting a sideboard or low cabinet to block off the dining room when walking into the apartment but not sure.

looking for any advice on how to make the dining area feel less clunky / decor ideas for the space as a whole thanks yall!

ps. i know the lamp is off center i just moved the dining area closer to the wall and these ceilings are super tall haha. also i dont like the rug for the dining area nor the office in the back so open for any suggestions :)

Advice on roasting curves

Hey everyone.

I just began roasting on a Buckeye BC 3.5 roaster to kickstart my small roasting company. I’ve been roasting on a behmor for 6 months and needed a machine with larger capacity. These are my first roast curves since using the new machine.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks everyone.

update: help with rug + couch color

i took all of your advice on an earlier post and put my desk up in the sunroom area. i love the new look but i feel like something’s still missing.

i ordered a white circle rug for the dining table and would love some advice on a rug for the office. should i get another white circle rug? or maybe get a different color rug for the dining area? on the topic of rugs, what do we think of the living room rug?

also, i’m open to getting new couch covers. i have an Ikea Uppland sofa and like the textured beige option for new covers.

any thoughts are appreciated! you guys nailed your recommendations on the last post so i’m eager to hear your thoughts :)

how to manage specific bean selling out?

i’m starting out a small coffee roasting company and wanted to ask how you all manage when a bean you roast sells out? i have only packaged single origin beans, but am running into the issue of specific farms closing/ beans selling out.

i currently buy my beans from sweet maria’s and am open to swapping providers for a more consistently available bean. any tips are appreciated - thanks!

need help to define zones and better fill space

just moved into this apartment a month ago and i want to better utilize the space so my desk space feels more like an office.

i find myself spending most of my time on the couch but want to make the sunroom / office feel more cozy and purposeful. behind the couch is a doorway to the foyer and front door. also the large boxes on the second desk will be moved (they are heavy and this is temporary spot for them). added is a mockup of my floor plan on ikea without the sunroom.

any tips are appreciated! (also if this is the wrong sub pls lmk where would be best to post)

deodorant never lasts all day

hey everyone!

since i started using deodorant id notice that around mid day it would basically give out and id have bo. if i kept my arms to my side it solved the issue lol but i want to find a more permanent solve.

ive tried anti-perspirant but it has ruined all of my white shirts with the aluminum. i shower at night and apply a few swipes of deodorant after getting out. now im using native which is fine but more than open to other options.

sorry if this isn’t the right sub for this but need some advice - thanks!!

Found 2 roaches within 3 weeks, should I consider breaking my lease?

hey everyone,

i just found a roach in my living room this evening after having found one in my bathtub a few weeks ago (4/28). my landlord did come out and spray the building, but i just found another one today. i’ve never had a bug problem and am new to this. i live in an older building in old town. should i consider breaking my lease or is this something that can / will be resolved? thanks!

what species is this?

Just found this in my living room. I found another roach of similar size a few weeks ago (4-28) and my landlord came out to spray and lay traps. Should I consider breaking my lease? I haven’t seen any sightings since.
