Barranquilla Subadult
I love the way her pattern boldens when she sits on the heat, in this case after a large (for her) meal.
Getting Big ❤️
Female Barranquilla locality Colombian boa (*Boa imperator*) at two years of age.
Kitchen Visitor
This neonate skink turned up in my kitchen. It’s about a thumbnail’s length in size, snout to vent, and had already dropped its tail when I found it wriggling across the tiles. Safely relocated to the yard.
New Roommate
A few weeks into my stay in a new apartment in Georgia (US), a tiny southern ring neck snake poked its head out from the crevice between my oven and counter. I pulled the appliance out in hopes of making a proper acquaintance, but my new cohabitant had returned to bug patrol behind some drywall by the time I could access the space. This rushed picture was the best I could do.
Carry on, sir or madam. Pay your rent in units of invertebrates consumed.
Ball Boa, Boa Ball
I know Python regius are popular, but come on!
Wild Eastern King in N. GA
It still blows my mind how beautiful the getula are in this region. 😍
N. Georgia King
Common kings, L. getula, in this region are remarkably beautiful. This one was cruising the driveway after a thundershower.
Show Off
River cooter, Pseudemys concinna, performing the world’s slowest ballet.
Made a Friend
Yellow-bellied slider (I think; my turtle IDs are a work in progress) in NE Georgia.
Posing with a Perentie
Reptile Gardens, South Dakota, USA. 2013. An encounter I still think about often. He was very still, clearly used to interacting with staff, yet disarmingly alert. I could see the gears turning behind his eyes and feel his strength. What an animal!
Shingleback at Reptile Gardens
A throwback to a long-ago visit to Reptile Gardens in South Dakota, where I was fortunate enough to meet the resident T. ragusa. Like many on this sub, I’m sure, I wish they were more frequently kept and bred in the US. 😍
Eastern Rat in North GA
Propitious sighting: Pantherophis alleghaniensis after a rain shower.
More Barranquilla Beauty
I love her color palette almost as much as her temperament.
Landlubber
Manhole-cover-sized spiny soft shell in Northern GA. 😍
