In my philosophy class we were talking about Mary Daly, and basically she argues that the ‘unholy trinity’ (rape, genocide,war) are all part of rape culture, and that all of these are a patriarchal expression of male dominance

Now, all my class are girls, and basically everyone seemed to dislike Daly and her definition of rape culture, claiming it was detracting away from the actual act of rape and that her views were too extreme

Although I think maybe she could have worded this argument better, I don’t think she’s entirely wrong in saying those things are influenced by the patriarchy in some form? I don’t agree with everything Daly says, but it made me realise how opposed society, including some women, are to radical feminism

What are your thoughts on this ? Do you think rape culture is the ‘unholy trinity’ or just rape itself ? I am still struggling to form my own opinion on this and would be appreciative if someone could educate me further

Writing abt fuckass mdzs because I couldn’t think of any other gothic text that had incest what is my life atleast it would make me stand out

Basically this started when I told my mom I wanted to dye my hair for summer (of which I knew I would be paying for) and she looked at me and said “you need a haircut your hair looks disgusting”, I then said yes if you are paying for it, and she laughed at me and said no you need to get a job. Fair enough. But I am still at school and doing exams right now, and there are literally no available jobs around me (promise me I have tried to get one).

They do this with everything, even food and basic necessities like period products. I didn’t even go bra shopping with my mom until I was 16 as I couldn’t afford it. I love my parents, but I wish I could have the same parents as my friends who pay for them or say they don’t need a job because they need to focus on school. We are quite a well off family as well so it’s not even a matter of money. I just feel like a spoilt brat when I say this though. Am I? Am I the issue?
