Tablet arm reading setup!

I got a few tablet arms for my desk and bed and I’m using this 8bit do zero 2 controller to click though the pages! I’m finally happy with how everything is for reading!

DTC issues

Hey everyone, I know this is an ODSP group, but I’m hoping some people here might have experience with DSO, Passport funding, or the Disability Tax Credit and can help me make sense of something.
I’m not on ODSP because I’m common-law, so I continue to work as much as I can, even though it’s really difficult and I often end up needing short-term disability support.

ODSP would be extremely helpful but because of the significant barriers put in place if you’re in a relationship, I would get nothing. I don’t understand why ODSP thinks it’s reasonable to start clawing back after your partner makes $200 when a person on ODSP can make 1000 before clawing back. Which seems unfair. We wouldn’t be able to afford rent. So now my only other option is DTC which would help at least some.

My question is whether anyone has been approved through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and Passport funding, but still been denied the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).
I’m really struggling to understand how these systems can come to such different conclusions.
From my understanding, DSO eligibility is based on significant lifelong limitations in cognitive and adaptive functioning that started before age 18 and have a major impact on independence and daily life. In my case I had formal psychological testing that showed very significant impairments in both areas, with scores around the 5th percentile or lower.
After being assessed, my psychologist told me that I am very debilitated by my disabilities. I also needed significant accommodations throughout school and now at work just to function at all, and even with those supports I’m still much slower and able to do far less than my peers.
Even with medication, therapy, memory aids, and other accommodations, I don’t really see meaningful or consistent improvement. I still struggle a lot with day-to-day functioning and I rely heavily on external support to manage basic parts of life.
Because of this, I was approved for DSO supports including Passport funding for community participation, employment supports, supported independent living, behaviour support services, and an Adult Protective Service Worker.
From what I understand, DSO approval can also place someone into the ODSP prescribed class, meaning if you meet the financial criteria you’re automatically considered medically eligible without needing to go through the full disability adjudication process.
That’s why I’m really confused about CRA’s decision.
On a daily basis my disability has a major impact on how I function. I need support and supervision to take medication reliably. I struggle a lot with understanding and managing money to the point where my partner handles all financial responsibilities including budgeting, bills, and decision making. He also makes sure I get where I need to go safely, helps with food and meal planning, and basically supports my day to day wellbeing because I can’t consistently manage these things on my own.
My memory and processing speed are also severely impaired based on testing, in the lowest percentile range in some areas, meaning most people would be functioning far above me in those cognitive tasks.
I’m just trying to understand how it’s possible to qualify for extensive disability supports through DSO but still be found not eligible for the Disability Tax Credit. If anyone has had a similar experience or successfully appealed a decision like this, I’d really appreciate hearing how it went.

I made my first ever nail polish purchases!

made a post here a few days ago asking for advice as someone completely new to nail polish, and I wanted to share what I ended up getting! I’m honestly shocked by how
quickly Mooncat shipped—my order arrived so fast. I tried to keep things minimal since I want to get my money’s worth and actually use everything up, so I ended up with three polishes and a top coat. The sparkly blue and top coat I got at the drugstore I already owned a nail strengthener and cuticle balm, and this already feels like so much to me 😅

Shades are death trumpet and jewel beetle from moon cat and frosted fantasy from Essie

New to nail polish

Hi all! I’m pretty new to nail polish and indie polishes in general, and I’d love some advice from people who’ve been into this longer than me.
Ideally, I’d like to build a small collection of around 5 shades to start with. I’m curious what brands people love the most, and whether you’d recommend any of the brands I’ve been looking at.
Brands I’ve heard about so far:
Moth and Moon
Holo Taco
Cracked
Abomination Cosmetics
Mooncat
From what I’m seeing, I’m really drawn to unique shades — especially colors that shift, glow, shimmer, or change depending on lighting/angle. I seem to like weird, moody, magical-looking polishes more than standard crème shades.
These are the specific shades I’m eyeing right now, in case anyone has experience with them:
Mooncat:
Garden of Evil
A Midsummer’s Dream
Artemis’ Deathkiss
Mechanical Tree
Take Me to Your Leader
Jewel Beetle
Death Trumpet
Holo Taco:
Cereal Killer
Cat’s Evasion
Hydropower
Moth and Moon Nails:
Shrouded
Out of Time
Maypole Dance
Let’s Take a Detour
Hedge Witch
Florals
Cherry Thing
Abomination Cosmetics:
Strawberry Patch
Strawberry Lemonade
Call of Cthulhu
Corvidae
Anura
Which shades feel truly unique or special to you?
And if you were only choosing 5 polishes for someone just starting out, what would you pick?

New to all this and overwhelmed.

Hey all! I just learned about KOReader, and it’s safe to say I’m a bit overwhelmed 😅

I’m curious—what are the coolest or most useful things to add/setup? Any must-have plugins, tweaks, or features you’d recommend?

I’d also love any tips and tricks for customizing it and making everything look nice/prettier!

I’d also really appreciate any resources (guides, videos, posts, etc.) that helped you learn. I’m especially interested in learning more about how to use it with Calibre.

I also have a learning disability, so if anyone has beginner-friendly explanations, step-by-step guides, or can explain things in simpler terms, I’d really appreciate the extra help.

Can someone explain what calibre is?

Hey all!

I’m hearing a lot about this and I did download it but I just don’t fully understand what it is and what I can do with it?

Is there some benefit to using this vs just dropping epubs into your kobo?
What am I supposed to use it for?

Fished third kit! Tone cheer Onsen Saga

this year I became interested in building book books I have ASD/ADHD and learning disabilities and this can be a barrier to enjoying hobbies but my fiancée is so sweet and helps me build them together. We just finished the tone cheer Onsen Saga. It took a lot longer than the time the box says it would take to build. We both love studio Ghibli and decided to marathon them on VHS! It took 5 Ghibli movies to complete this kit.

The next kit we want to build will probably be cats crossing.

My experance with bigme highbreak dual

So I recently got the Bigme HiBreak Dual, and I’m loving it so far! I just wanted to share how I’ve been using mine. For refrance i got the colour version with the largest memory that was offered.

I decided to use it alongside my regular phone. I mostly use the Dual at night, a few hours before bedtime, to reduce my exposure to blue light and build healthier sleep habits. I have ADHD, and regular phones have always been a massive distraction for me, especially at night.

I also really enjoy using it at work to make checklists it makes a fantastic memory aid! Plus, I can doodle on it when things are quiet. It’s also become my go-to e-reader for on the go. I have a Kobo, but this fits right in my pocket, which makes it so much easier to bring everywhere.

I don't mind using it as a secondary device at all. Most places I go have Wi-Fi, so even if my main phone is away, it's no big deal to send a quick message to a friend or family member. I can also see this being the perfect travel companion; I plan on using it as my only phone when abroad with an eSIM to avoid any roaming fees.

If I had any complaints, the screen isn't quite as crisp as my Kobo, and the colors look pretty washed out, but I don't mind all that much. Also, the dyslexia friendly font was a bit of a pain to figure out how to install, and it still doesn't look quite right to me.

Looking for a cool-toned goth eyeshadow palette!

I’m trying to find an eyeshadow palette that leans heavily cool-toned and works for both everyday goth looks and more dramatic looks.I’d really like to avoid having to buy and switch between multiple palettes if possible. My goal is to find one versatile palette that I can use daily

Ideally I’d love a palette with:
Grays (light to dark)
Black
Pastel purple/lavender
Mint green
Pastel Cool-toned blues
And a white
A mix of matte shades for everyday wear
Bonus points if it also includes:
Shimmers, metallics, or multichromes/chromes
Sparkly shades for more dramatic or fantasy-inspired looks
I tend to prefer softer, cool-toned colors over warm tones, and I’d love something that can go from subtle goth to more elaborate looks without needing multiple palettes. I am also open to the idea of building a custom palette if anyone knows of any places that allow this.

I used to own the Kat Von d pastel goth palette and I really enjoyed and miss that pallet I currently am using the blue pat McGrath mothership.
Does anyone have recommendations?

Can these rolife sets bet connected?

I’m a huge Studio Ghibli fan, and I recently noticed that these two Rolife sets look like they could be combined to create something very similar to Kiki’s Delivery Service’s house!

The two sets are Kiki’s Magic Emporium and Becka’s Baking House.

I know some Rolife sets are designed to stack or connect together, while others aren’t. Has anyone tried combining these two, or does anyone know if they’re compatible? I’d love to create a Kiki-inspired display if possible!

Seeking insight on 8-year-old WAIS-IV results: "Meaningless" Full Scale IQ?

I’m looking for perspective on an assessment from 8 years ago cognitive evaluation. I was 22 at the time. My report said my Full Scale IQ (FSIQ) was 'meaningless' because of a huge gap between my strong verbal/non-verbal skills and my very weak working memory/processing speed.
My GAI was in the Average range, but my CPI was very low. The psychologist used OPA guidelines instead of the DSM for this.
Was it the right call to ignore the FSIQ, and is it even possible to guess what it would have been? Does that score actually matter, or is the GAI a better measure? Any insights are appreciated!
I’d also be interested to know what the IQ might have been just for curiosity.

My first 2 book books completed!

This hobby is seriously so fun!! I’ve been having an absolute blast with it. I already have 6 more kits either ordered or sitting here waiting to be built because apparently I have zero self control now 😭

I wanted to share the ones I’ve completed so far! I’m also really happy because I finally found a way to display my Calico Critters again. One of my cats kept trying to steal them, so I had to pack them away for the longest time. Now they finally have a safe little display space and I’m obsessed with how cute everything looks together.

The kits I’m currently most excited to build are:
ToneCheer: Spirited Away Onsen, Howl’s Moving Castle, Magical Train, and Giverny Garden
Sanrio: Kuromi Spooky House
Anavrin: Cat’s Crossing
A few I REALLY want to get in the future are:
Rolife: Kiki’s Magic Emporium
Anavrin: Whispering Hollow
Nook’s Den: Cat Returns

Honestly this hobby is becoming dangerously addictive already and I can absolutely see myself running out of shelf space soon

Looking for studio ghibli themed book books?

Hey! I recently got into the book nook hobby and I’m still pretty new, so I’m not super familiar with a lot of brands or where people usually shop for sets and accessories. So far I’ve only tried Rolife and Tonecheer, and I absolutely love the tiny detailed worlds they create.
I’m a huge Studio Ghibli fan, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any book nook kits inspired by Ghibli movies or that have a similar cozy/magical vibe? I’d also love recommendations for places to buy tiny figures or mini accessories to add into book nooks and customize them a bit more.
If anyone has suggestions, favorite shops, or recommendations, I’d really appreciate it!
