Anyone has experience with Greenacre International School Koh, Samui?
As the title states, please let us know how was your experience working at this school. I am particularly tempted by the location but I am not sure if 60K is a good salary.

I have been applying to jobs in schrole, tes jobs like a madman and all I hear back is crickets. How do you apply?
Hi all I have this really weird problem. I am trying to quit smoking cigarettes and drinking and for this purpose I even chew nicotine gums. I can usually go days without drink or smoke while I am at home but as soon as I meet a friend or cousin and they light a cigarette and offer me one or ask me to have a beer with them, I cave in. I provide zero resistance.
How can I escape this vicious loop? I tried staying at home and cutting off my friends and cousins for a month or so but the boredom almost led me to depression.
Please suggest what should I do and how can I say no and develop self control?
Has anyone worked at MCTA Mandalay Myanmar? What is the salary/package like for international teachers? How is the workload? Is the city safe and fun to work in?
I received a job offer at a school in Myanmar that has a pretty good compensation. I am currently conflicted on moving to Myanmar because of the situation there. How safe is Myanmar for foreigners atm?
Edit: Sorry it's Mandalay not Yangon.
Has anyone ever seen demons? It happened to me a few times whenever I am drinking alcohol. I want to quit this poison but I can't say no to social situations. There were 2 clear instances where I literally saw a demonic face on the girl I had brought back home. She had an evil smile just staring back.
Another instance was yesterday. I am convinced my cousin who I grew up with and trust more than a brother holds envy and malice in his heart. Yesterday we were drinking all night and once we came back to the room, I felt an evil vibe suddenly coming off him. I felt like he was about to off me. I had never felt like this with him and I asked him what's up. And he said something about a different person. But I literally felt an extremely evil serial killer psychopathic vibe all of a sudden.
I have decided to cut this guy off even if it's my cousin. He hates the success I have achieved and feels down as he is still a mess and down in the trenches. His mom compares me to him and he has I think alot of envy in his heart.
What is your advice? Has anyone encountered such things?

As someone in their early 30s, I am trying to make up mind on whether I should learn and start a trading career. I am not sure if it is worth it to put in all this effort and whether it is actually rewardable. I see alot of traders on instagram flashing this rich lifestyle which they claim is from trading. I know they are probably scams and selling a course but some of them are not selling a course. So how are they making all this money? Why do they have an instagram if no course is being sold?
So is there anyone that has literally changed their life and become financially free just from trading? I have some capital and recently quit my job due to the toxic work environment and trying to see if I should do this and put in a 2-3 years to learn. What is your honest advice?
I’m in my early 30s, and I feel like I’m at a career crossroads.
I grew up in a small town in a developing country. After working hard to earn a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering, I struggled to break into the IT industry, so I accepted an international teaching position. I taught there for six years.
Recently, I resigned and returned home, and I'm still trying to figure out whether I made the right decision.
Over the last couple of years, I found the job increasingly difficult—not because of the teaching itself, but because of classroom management and the overall work environment. Student behavior was challenging, and I often felt there was very little support from administration when dealing with disciplinary issues. I was even reprimanded a few times for raising my voice after repeatedly trying to get students who were openly playing games or watching movies during class to pay attention.
There were also ongoing conflicts with a handful of students and coworkers. I felt that some of them wanted me gone because I was stricter than many of the other teachers. I was called some pretty vile things over grades, had students threaten to hit me, and there was a lot of gossip that seemed to be directed at me. At times, people would reference details from my personal life that I hadn't shared at work, which left me feeling like my privacy had been violated. I even suspected that one of my online accounts may have been compromised, although I never found any evidence to prove it.
Whether those concerns were justified or not, they took a serious toll on my mental health. I became increasingly anxious and paranoid, started drinking heavily and smoking far too much, and reached a point where I was questioning my own judgment. Looking back, I honestly don't know how much of what I perceived was real and how much was amplified by stress, anxiety, and substance use. I even considered checking myself into a hospital because I felt like I was losing perspective.
Eventually, I decided to resign because I no longer felt safe or mentally capable of continuing. I didn't have enough evidence to bring my concerns to administration in any meaningful way, and by that point my mental health had deteriorated enough that I knew I needed to step away.
Financially, I was doing reasonably well. My salary was around $29,000 USD per year, which went a long way given the low cost of living, and I managed to save and invest around $50,000–70,000 USD.
Now that I'm back home, I'm filled with mixed emotions. Part of me thinks leaving was the right decision because my mental health had deteriorated so much. Another part of me regrets resigning and wonders if I walked away from a rare opportunity. The location was beautiful, many of my colleagues were great people, and the job itself wasn't particularly difficult outside of dealing with difficult students and workplace dynamics.
The bigger issue is that I've spent six years teaching but no longer want to remain in education. I'd like to transition into another field, possibly something related to my computer science background, but I feel like I've pigeonholed myself and don't have relevant professional experience outside teaching.
Has anyone else left a stable career because of burnout or declining mental health and later questioned whether they made the right decision? How did you move forward, and were you able to successfully transition into a different career?
I have been a retainer for almost a decade on and off. I have seen success in my life and I've had downfalls even on retention. What I noticed most is that if you are totally clean, no cigarettes, no alcohol or any drug even coffee, the benefits are massive. Although tea is an exception as it contains lower levels of caffeine. Just nicotine only might be okay in the form of gums or zyns. Sobriety and SR beats any other versions of SR.
If you take drugs or alcohol or cigarettes you are essentially neutering yourself. It's like wolverine, who is constantly poisoned by the adamantium skeleton, nerfed in some unnatural way, unable to reach his full potential. Some of the energy is constantly redirected towards, healing and fixing issues thus unable to fully unleash the energy that the body is capable of. Drugs can be even worse as you are playing with fire and your mind. If you are on SR, and constantly having negative feelings, it does not produce benefits.
I have had opportunities, more money and more magnetism when I was completely sober from all substances. I've had muddy or bad things happen to me while on SR and alcohol.
Smoking cigarettes is one of the most evil things you can do. The cigarette completely hijacks the system with chemicals. Its the evil elites effectively neutering men to stay passive by PMO, chemicals and negative news in the form of social media content.
Same goes for food and water laced with all kinds of artificial substances and plastic and fluoride. Eat clean, healthy and organic and see your life explode.
Edit: Definitely stay away from weed as it caused psychosis and paranoia in me for long term even after quitting.
Are there remote tutoring jobs for people that are not from the West? Is it possible for Asian people to get a remote tutoring position? I have a lot of experience in teaching AP STEM subjects and also hold a teaching license but since I am not from the West, most of these jobs seem out of reach.
Hi all, does the MTEL provisional license that I received after just taking a few tests hold weight? I am a non-native english speaker with almost 6 years of CS teaching experience in international schools. I've been applying to alot of schools lately as I am currently on a career break and unemployed but haven't been hearing back anything. I was wondering if I should upskill. I tried to upgrade the provisional MTEL license to a temporary license but it seems like its impossible to do so if I am not in the states. You would need a colleague with an MTEL license to observe you, etc. Taking the Post-GCE route seems impossible as you need someone with a UK teaching license to observe your class. I was wondering about pgde or getting an M.eD or iPGCE? Are there any other options?
Is there an online PGCE/QTS courses I can do? I found a pgce course (online) but it requires me to fill an employment document but currently I am not employed. Please let me know if there are online PGCE courses since I am not from the UK or live in the UK and a non-native english speaker. If possible I would like to find the cheapest PGCE course as I have a limited budget.
I have done international teaching for 15 years and the main reason I planning to do the PGCE is to have better job opportunities and land a teaching job in Dubai.
Also which one would be better? PGCE or iPGCE
I 32(M) have become very suspicious of everything and anything people tell me. I always think that they are inferring to something else that I did or attacking me indirectly when they talk to me. I feel like people are always talking about me behind my back, backstabbing and gossiping and trying to assassinate my character or reputation. I always feel people are attacking me. They are indirectly trying to say something to me.
I am a teacher by profession and dealing with kids especially exacerbated my problem. As you know kids can be disrespectful, bullying, mocking, etc. The teaching profession has definitely caused some deep trauma after prolonged exposure to threats, gossip, mockery, etc.
I became an alcoholic due to this and smoked like a chimney. This I think caused some mild psychosis in me. I always feel guilty and feel like its my fault stemming from childhood issues.
I realized this was a problem when my cousin was talking to a mutual friend on the phone, and the mutual friend made a joke, and I automatically assumed it was about me and I got aggressive. I was a little drunk at the time and my cousin was shocked by my behavior to say the least.
There were several instances where I feel like people are attacking me even though they were not talking about me at all. I am paranoid most of the time and suspect that people are either trying to get me fired, etc or push me to resign. I feel like they are playing with me psychologically. I feel like I am being stalked and watched by other people and feel like I only have enemies even though there is no evidence. The paranoid thinking has gone out of hand.
I quit my job just to take a break from all this and get sober, but now I am regretting deeply about my decision to quit. I am from a 3rd world country and there is no mental health support or clinics. The country where I was at doing the job atleast had mental health clinics and therapists and I was earning well over the median and also in a dream destination.
Coming back home I realize how brutal the job market is and now I am falling deeper into this rut.
What am I suffering from? I was never this way 5 years ago. How can I bounce back? I feel like I have PTSD as everynight I have dreams that are sad/nightmare/longing, etc. I feel like I lost half of me when I let go of the job.
Anyone here attracted a smoking hot girl here who wanted to actually be with you? Or are these types all shallow type where they take-off after they sleep with you or got to know you and lose interest?
Did you meet anyone beautiful, hot girl that you made into your wife or girl? I have never had an experience like that even though I have done SR for many, many years. I only seem to attract the really unattractive/ugly/fat/shallow/superficial/poor or materialistic(only wanting money) and disgusting ones, etc.
Whenever I meet a beautiful/hot girl that I like aswell, some strange thing happens and I end up losing her or not being able to develop a relationship. She senses that I am interested and likes her and then feels the ick and runs away or ghosts me even on SR. It's like I am not allowed to like/find a girl hot for dating.
I am kind of fed up as I am in my 30s and losing hopes about getting married or starting a family.
How has your experience been at International schools in SE Asia?
No. of classes per week? How many minutes per class? Duties? Compensation, housing vs cost of living?
What was your experience with student behavior and admin support? Do you think the behavior has gone downhill and is the same as the students in Western schooling system? Do admin provide support? Supportive admin or bad admins?
Would you recommend teaching internationally?
So basically as the title says, is it worth getting a Post Graduate Certification in Education for non-native who teaches STEM and not english? Basically have no education degree atm and only a bachelor's degree related to my subject. Already have 5-6 years of experience at international schools. Looking to upskill and increase my salary.
Has anyone ever applied through the racist/discrimination website ajarn.com? Are there other similar websites? What was your experience working for these discriminatory/racist schools? How was your workload, treatment, salary and benefits compared to non-NES?
I used haveIbeenpwned and found that my email had 4 data breaches, 2 of which exposed my password. I don't know what passwords I used on those 2 websites as I use some common passwords in rotation. How can i check the exact password that was leaked?
I had a pretty severe traumatic incident recently at work, where I believed without evidence that I was hacked on multiple social accounts. I was also being indirectly accused by people of being "unsafe" for no reason. I believed that I was being targeted and people were trying to put me behind the bars. I just had enough and decided to resign.
I had no evidence but a strong suspicion and just a gut feeling. I thought I would trust my gut. I am not sure if I did the right thing but I had built a good cushion of financial safety, enough to last me a few years and also a back up job that creates some small income.
But now I am constantly in a negative spiral and traumatised and can't even socialise. I feel like everyone is a snake and can't be trusted except my parents or siblings.
I had a very good career going and I was on my way to doing a lot of great things.
I am constantly checking all my accounts to see if I have been hacked, etc.
Am I overreacting or is this normal? I would like to go back working after a few months or a year and find a job but its severly disrupting my functioning.
