Treasury Announces Increased Sizes of Nominal Long-End Liquidity Support Buybacks Beginning September 9

https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0607

>The U.S. Department of the Treasury is increasing, by at least double, the size of liquidity support buyback operations for longer-dated nominal coupon securities (the 10-year to 20-year sector and the 20-year to 30-year sector).  The current maximum size of $2 billion per operation will be at least $4 billion per operation.

>This change is effective September 9, 2026 and will be in effect for the remainder of this refunding quarter (through November 4, 2026).  Treasury will provide more information about future buyback sizes at the next Quarterly Refunding, scheduled for November 4, 2026.

>This increase in buyback operation sizes reflects Treasury’s desire to provide greater liquidity support in longer-dated nominal sectors where there is consistent strong sponsorship from market participants, as evidenced by the significant volume of  high-quality offers Treasury routinely receives in longer-dated buyback operations.

Meta faces ‘astronomical’ consequences as legal fight reaches critical moment in California

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/17/meta-attorneys-general-california-federal-trial-astronomical-consequences.html

  • Less than two weeks after a loss in New Mexico, Meta faces a much bigger legal test in a case being co-led by California’s attorney general over alleged harms to children and teens.
  • Opening arguments in AG Rob Bonta’s case against Meta begin on Tuesday, as more states try to force the social media company to make design changes to Facebook and Instagram.
  • “You could wake up with a headline judgment that is, as I’ve said, astronomical,” New Mexico AG Raúl Torrez told CNBC, fresh off a victory against Meta in his state.

>If New Mexico created the blueprint for taking on Meta, California could determine the company’s fate when it comes to critical changes at Facebook and Instagram.

>Opening arguments begin Tuesday in the trial that California Attorney General Rob Bonta is co-leading against Meta, following a litany of allegations that the company fostered addictive behavior in teens and children. The jury was seated last week in Oakland’s federal courthouse.

>The trial involves a coalition of 29 state attorneys general in a unified case against Meta that was brought in 2023, and will be argued by lawyers representing California, Colorado, New Jersey and Kentucky. The stakes are enormous as leading government officials across the country push for Meta to be held accountable for allegedly violating federal and state laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA, and various consumer protection statutes.

Trump Media: More than 10 firms pay up to $100,000 a month for fast access to Truth Social posts

$DJT: More than 10 firms pay up to $100,000 a month for fast access to Truth Social posts

>More than 10 customers have signed up to Trump Media's controversial service that offers faster access to market-moving posts made on its Truth Social platform.

>The service, Truth API, launched at the beginning of August and gives Wall Street traders first sight of posts from the social media site's most influential accounts.

>Its earliest customers are mostly in high-frequency trading firms who are being charged between $60,000-$100,000 (£44,000-£74,000) a month for the service, interim chief executive officer Kevin McGurn said during an earnings call.

>He was speaking after Trump Media reported a loss of $238m between April and June.

>The quarterly loss is more than 10 times the amount reported during the same period a year earlier, according to the Trump Media and Technology Group, and comes as the group branched into ventures unrelated to media, including cryptocurrencies.

>The group, which is yet to make a profit, says it will refocus on its social media mission.

>In July, it announced a plan to give Wall Street firms and institutional investors faster access to posts on Truth Social, where Trump frequently makes announcements. It has been viewed as a way to give subscribers an edge in trading stocks and other heavily traded assets.

CEO Greg Abel is starting to deploy Buffett’s massive cash hoard

>Berkshire Hathaway’s operating earnings climbed 16% in the second quarter as strength across its energy, railroad and manufacturing businesses more than offset weaker insurance results.

>But the bigger takeaway from the results is that CEO Greg Abel, 64, is starting to put the record cash hoard amassed by Warren Buffett to work on buybacks and stock purchases.

>Berkshire’s cash pile declined to $365.5 billion at the end of June from a record $397.4 billion three months earlier, as the conglomerate deployed capital through other investments along with the buybacks. The quarter included the closing of Berkshire’s acquisition of Taylor Morrison.

>Berkshire reversed a pattern of selling stocks, becoming a net buyer of equities in the second quarter with nearly $20 billion in net purchases. The conglomerate had been a net seller of stocks for 14 consecutive quarters before the latest period.

How come default to old reddit still doesn't work?

If I go to old.reddit.com it's often buggy.

If I log into reddit.com it just brings me straight to new reddit. Even with "default to old reddit" checked. On old.reddit.com I opt out of new Reddit as well.

I understand you guys are running a business but the cluttered, hamburger bubble menu of new Reddit is unbearable. There must be a better solution then forcing everyone out of a beautiful and good product?

Any chance we will get futures for experienced traders?

Will Fidelity offer futures ever? I think it should be heavily considered.

With single stock futures becoming available again and superior bond platforms elsewhere, there seems to be even more of a compelling reason to switch to another broker like IBKR.

Trading is increasingly becoming 24/7. With so much market moving events happening outside of regular hours now with current admin and geopolitics, I think Fidelity may fall behind if they don't move with the times.

JMHO of one person though!

What's the deal with "unable to leave the room"?

Some random bot or spammer asks to chat with you. Then you try to ignore the request and you can't it just says "unable to leave the room" as an error message. This happens all the time. How to deal with it?

How come Firefox fails to do username login autofill on so many sites?

Interestingly it can often do the password part... just not the username.

Other browsers seem to never struggle on Reddit, Disney, etc. So many sites seem to confuse Firefox. Why? Am I doing something wrong.

Very frustrated. My daughter's location doesn't show on my phone.

We got my daughter (DD) an apple watch. It is paired with my wife's iphone.

When DD joined my wife's life 360 circle, she could see DD's location. However, on my it shows sharing as off. I joined my wife's circle but DD is invisible on my app.

Is this because DD doesn't have her own phone? Is that the only way to see her location?

If so that is a huge limitation because sometimes I need to see where she is too.

Edit: impressed with outreach from Life360, I will contact customer support!

Dear Tastosis can you please not spoil outcomes on your cast titles?

I love love your ASL casts and try to watch every single one. But when I go through Youtube many times it will recommend a video that it thinks I want to watch but it's way ahead of where I am. I find out who makes it deep.

Maybe this is unavoidable and I don't know the reason but if it is, and can you consider making it like the lower rounds (something like "Match A Ro 8") without the player names that would be great.

Again love everything you've done!
