Mechanical swingtraders: How many different tickers do you use to trade your target ticker?

For example, let's say my target ticker is INTC.

Before I buy INTC, I also require:

- SPY to be in an uptrend (overall market)

- SMH to be in an uptrend (semiconductor sector)

So my entry depends on three tickers, not just one.

For those of you with mechanical or systematic swing trading strategies:

How many different tickers influence your entry decisions?

Do you only look at the target ticker, or do you also require confirmation from the market, sector, industry, VIX, breadth indicators, or other assets?

Which tickers have you found add the most value?

Why isn't Bose Professional capable of making great systems?

Why isn't Bose Professional capable of making great systems?

Is it a pure leadership issue? For example, they don't know how to hire great engineers?

Or is their mission statement flawed?

Or does the market not want great systems from Bose and Bose is happy making profits being mediocre?

Or am I totally wrong and Bose Professional makes great products for their particular niche?

How I Take Profits While Staying Long MU. I'm a small business owner, a great bit of advice I got was to regularly pull a little cash out, whether things are moving sideways, up, or down. The idea is to consistently take some cash off the table rather than waiting for perfect timing.

This is how I take profits while being long MU:

1. Long calls

I typically buy deep ITM calls around 80 delta. When MU moves up about 1 ATR (14-day ATR), I roll the position up to the next ~80 delta strike for a credit.

Depending on the situation, I view that credit either as realized profit or as reducing risk while maintaining upside exposure.

(I have also experimented with buying OTM calls and that's been working well since MU has been on an upward tear.)

2. Cash-secured puts

I sell puts at strike prices where I believe support exists and where I'd be comfortable owning additional MU shares if assigned.

3. Shares

So far, I've been buying shares and haven't sold any yet. If MU enters a prolonged sideways range, I may consider selling covered calls but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

The cash generated from rolling calls and selling puts stays in cash until I find opportunities to add to MU or other stocks on my watchlist.

We Literally Gave Someone an Award for Finding DRAM

I work at one of the largest medical device companies in the world. We buy memory chips for the devices we sell to hospitals which doctors use to diagnose patients. If you have been a patient in a hospital or clinic, there is a near 100% chance one of our products has been used to treat you.

Memory has become so difficult to source that a little more than a month ago our company gave an award to a procurement specialist (someone I directly work with) for securing enough memory to cover our 2026 production needs.

I already had some MU shares because I read that MU's PEG (Price/Earnings-to-Growth) Ratio is incredibly low. But I didn't have a first hand conviction narrative; this award was the moment I realized I should hold MU shares for the long haul. It also gave me the confidence to start buying calls and selling puts.

That's my MU story so far. I still haven't sold any shares. I've rolled my long calls up several times each time for a credit. I'll likely sell more puts on Monday.

Do you have a mechanical framework to help you decide how much cash (dry powder) to keep in your portfolio?

My current framework is to keep roughly 10%–20% of my portfolio in cash during bull markets. As my stock positions appreciate, my cash percentage naturally falls. When it gets too low, I trim some positions and rebuild the cash reserve.

The idea is:

Have dry powder available for market dips.

Prevents a few positions from becoming too large.

It sort of forces me to see dips as buying opportunities instead of causing me to sell because of fear.

Edit: I'm looking to improve since I'm just a beginner.

In the graphics design subreddit, they have a deep disdain for AI. How about in the food world? Let's say your favorite non-chain restaurant said that their chef was experimenting using AI to help them with recipes. Would you be intrigued and want to try it, or would you be disgusted and boycott?

Are the Meyer Ultra X40 still considered the best point-source in their size class from a sound quality perspective? Are there others I should consider for sound quality? In terms of SPL, I don't need anything louder than the X40.

I'm looking to buy an X50 996 Turbo Tiptronic. Where should I look to buy? I'm in Southern California if it matters.

What's up with some people that are able to admit they made a mistake but they aren't able to apologize about it? It's as if saying "I'm sorry" is physically impossible for them, like trying to jump 30 feet into the air is impossible.

996 Turbo Tiptronic vs 981 Cayman PDK at about same price — which would you choose?

I’m deciding between two models having a budget of up to ~$60k (I don't have to spend it all):

Porsche 996 Turbo Tiptronic.

Porsche Cayman 981 PDK.

I’d drive it around 7000 per year for occasional weekend trips (e.g. Los Angeles to Big Sur, Las Vegas, San Diego) and once or twice per week commuting in SoCal. Zero track time. I already have practical daily drivers (minivan and plug-in hybrid Honda). I'm 50+ years old, it that matters; I grew up with manuals and have zero desire for one.

Which would you choose?

Randomness isn't one feature of reality. It's the whole of it. Where does freewill fit in?

Order isn't the opposite of randomness. Order is just what we call it when multiple instances of randomness happen to align for a moment. And higher orders of order? Those are lower-level alignments happening to line up with other lower-level alignments.

It's randomness all the way down.
