How long until it didn’t feel like something was in the back of your throat all the time?

Had my surgery about 6 weeks ago and I just constantly feel like I have something in back of my throat. Surgeon said everything looks great just will take time to get used to. Sometimes it really stresses me out. When did it go back to normal for you? Not feeling it at all?

Post tonsillectomy - when does ear swelling go down and energy return to fully normal?

Day 22 and my ears just still feel kind of plugged up a lot of the time like I’m going up on an airplane, but not as bad. When did this start to go down for anyone who’s gone through the procedure? And when did your energy go back to fully normal pre op levels?

Day 13. Please tell me the nausea and motion sickness stops?

Part of what’s contributing I know is anxiety. My uvula is also still kind of swollen so I know that’s contributing to me feeling yucky.

Just even after Zofran I just feel really motion sick when I’m not lying down. I can lie down and play on my iPad, go on my phone, watch TV, no problem. But I sit up and go on my computer, or sit up and take a video call on my iPad, and after about 30 min I get really motion sick and nauseous and have to lie down and close my eyes. Being a passenger in a car is getting better but still tough. Haven’t taken any opioids since day 4, they made me really anxious and nauseous. Just Tylenol.

Did anyone else go through this? Does it get better?

What worked for me - maybe it will help you?

Obviously this isn’t a one size fits all. But thought I’d share what worked for me.

I’ve always been on the leaner side of PCOS, but I was a super chunky kid that didn’t lose weight until puberty. I lost a lot of weight freshman year of college basically starving myself, but when I started to weightlift I gained all of it and more back. From 2018 on I was working out extremely hard. 6 days of 2 hour lifting sessions, and no matter how I tried to eat or train I could not lose weight, or inches. At all. And I was constantly hungry and just wanting to eat more.

I gained a lot weight during COVID, and all of a sudden my periods were debilitating. I never really had bad period cramps, but this took me out for a week and I just had to stay home and rest. Extremely unusual for me. Then I started to cramp really hard even outside of my period, got bad acne flare ups often, and I was diagnosed with PMDD. I would basically have one good week a month after my period and before I ovulated. Then I would ovulate, and it was just hell. Pain, depression, anxiety.

I had one gyno who said “this just happens” to women my age. I was about 23/24. I had another who said depression wasn’t real and I should not eat carbs and just go outside.

I had ultrasounds that found nothing and FINALLY I asked for a hormone test from my PCP and brought it to a new gyno, actually a male doctor. He took one look, did one exam, and said yup you have PCOS. I was in like the 99.9th percentile for my level of testosterone. And one of the only FDA approved treatments for PMDD was Yaz, or Loryna. I took birth control when I was 19 and it made me extremely anxious, but I thought okay what the heck.

Oh my GOD it was like night and day! All of a sudden the anxiety just dissipated. I had been dealing with a really toxic relationship, and all of a sudden I was able to go “you know what? No thanks” rather than pandering to him like I had before. My periods were more regular, with basically no pain, and I actually found it a little easier to lose weight. And I also did a little test later when that toxic guy pressured me to go off of birth control, and yup there was all the anxiety back. I had taken antidepressants and had dealt a lot with anxiety but this finally felt like I was pulling the curtain back on the actual cause. And my acne basically stopped!

For cravings/hunger I take 4,000mg of Myo Inositol a day and that helps me a lot. I still eat when I’m hungry, and I don’t restrict myself, but it lowers my will to graze and have sugar.

The biggest thing for me was finding out I have ADHD and starting vyvanse. So much more of my anxiety melted away, when I’m taking the medication I just don’t mentally spiral as much. It’s lifted my sex drive, and also helps reduce cravings and lose weight even more! I know that’s common with stimulants, but I figured if anyone suspected they were ADHD maybe this would make them curious enough to go to their doctor.

Anyways! Just my two cents! Your mileage will vary!

How do I (27F) get out of this endless hole from a breakup? He’s 29M

I guess I’m looking for some support, I don’t know what to do. A warning for sexual assault.

I was dating a slightly older colleague for a few years. We split up last year, and in my processing of the abuse I came to the realization he raped me. And coerced me multiple times. Not to mention the constant verbal and emotional abuse. He admitted to all of this but it didn’t make me feel any better.

He has a new girlfriend now. They met 3 weeks after we split up. We work at the same job, although I’ve been off from leave. He has a new leadership position at this job. It seems like he has everything together, and this year has been absolute hell for me. The worst year of my life by far. Health issues abound, trauma, friendship issues from friendships being strained from years of this relationship.

There is an active police investigation, and an investigation at my workplace. I don’t want to give up this job, I worked very hard for it, and admittedly we don’t work together often. But I never, ever want to see him again. And I am having such a hard time handling what feels like my life falling apart when it seems like life is just rewarding him. And seeing friends and colleagues continue to work with him and having those same people start to shut me out because I’m just a mess. My best friend and colleague told me “I can’t be sympathetic he raped you because I told you for years to leave” and “working with him is easy, he never brings this stuff up.”

Wondering if anyone had any words of advice. I’ve just felt stuck in this hole for so, so long now.

Anyone else really anxious in recovery?

I had a septoplasty before so I had been under anesthesia. But for this procedure I woke up and there was pain, no worries. They gave me morphine that was fine. Still pain, so they gave me fentanyl and oh my god I was in a full panic. I thought my throat was closing up, and I kept thinking I don’t want to die I’m not ready to die. It wasn’t actually closing, and they gave me some Benadryl and I calmed down.

I’m now on day 2 after surgery and things are a lot better. Just adjusting to feeling my uvula hanging down behind my tongue all the time (yuck) and feeling the way my throat is kind of sitting on itself differently now. Had only dairy for 1.5 days and that wrecked me lol. Pain is not too bad, managing it with Tylenol.

I’m just so anxious from that fentanyl panic. I keep worrying what if I fall asleep and I don’t wake up? Or oh I can feel the mucus drip down my throat what if it chokes me. Or what if I start to bleed really badly? I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but does anyone have any tips for the anxiety?

Anyone have more energy after tonsillectomy?

Getting my tonsils out end of August and I honestly can’t wait. I always had reactive tonsils and sore throats my whole life but they became unbearable after I got mono over Christmas. Over the past few months I’ve had a terrible sore throat 90% of days.

One think I’ve noticed is that I might be having a good few days, and then I play my wind instrument, my throat flares up, and I get wiped despite having a good day before that. It seems like an energy crash always follows my throat hurting.

So did anyone have a similar experience and getting their tonsils out has helped their energy?

Mobile drum cart coming along well

I’m not a drummer! Forgive the hand playing. Going to put a support through the bass drum and get a different snare mount. This one is gibraltars leg less snare stand and too flimsy. Will post a guide when I’m done!

I hate this damn machine

I have a LR4 and it feels like every two weeks I do a full deep clean, wipe out the sensors, reset the sensors, etc. Every few goddamn days it disconnects from the WiFi. No matter how many times I reconnect it. I have other smart devices in the home no others have trouble. Now all of a sudden it decides the globe is too heavy and refuses to cycle. Waste sensor needs constant recalibration. This is great for my cat who has trouble with his anal glands and needs a clean box. And I bought it second hand so can’t even get money from the warranty. God damnit

I can do little odd jobs here and there but only a few a week or I’m absolutely wiped. Overall aches pains everywhere. Now doctor thinks I have fibromyalgia. Please tell me the fatigue gets better. I am so tired of being tired
