Toddler oriented activities

We have been fortunate enough recently with my job to allow my wife to stay at home and watch our two boy (2 & 1). We have been looking online at things for her to do to keep them busy during the week and short of story time at the library and taking them to the park it doesn’t seem like there is a lot of spaces that are geared towards little kids. If there are any SAHM that have any suggestions for places around town that cater to 18 month and 2.5 year olds or even any mommy meet groups, we would be super appreciative.

The day has finally come

My wife, after 15 years, has finally left this hell hole of a company. As her spouse I can not tell you how excited I am for her. The amount of unnecessary stress that she endured on a daily basis is astounding. Incompetent management, being the only decorator on the day before a holiday because they didn’t have hours, being the only decorator to do wedding cakes because management didn’t want to do them or train anyone else, the months upon months of not having a weekend off (her record was 10 months), being denied important family events off because of the needs of the business but then the other decorators were scheduled off on that day, the sexual harassments in her department that were “swept under the rug” by HR, I could go on.

For those of you who still BLEED GREEN, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt this company doesn’t care about you. They only care about what your perceived value to them is. As soon as they don’t see you as valuable, you mean nothing.

For those of you that have been with the company for any length of time and remember what it used to be like, you know Mr George is rolling in his grave. If you are thinking about getting out do it now, you won’t regret it. As someone who has been on the outside looking in and seen the change that has happened in my beautiful wife because of this company and the weight that has been lifted off her shoulders I can’t emphasise that enough.

Chiropractor recommendations

I am looking for a Chiropractor who also does physical therapy. I was in a head on collision in 2017 and have had some pretty gnarly neck pain since. I’ve gone to multiple chiropractors since then but all of them were simply maintenance adjustments where I’d get adjusted say every 2 weeks just to keep the pain manageable. Well it has gotten to a point where I’m tired of just trying to maintain, I want to actually fix the issues if possible. I’m not blind to the fact that I may need surgery to fix the problem but I would like to exhaust every other possible option first as surgery is financially not an option at this point. If anyone has a recommendation for a chiropractor with a decent physical therapist on staff, I would be more than grateful. I’m located on the Cherokee Cobb line so preferably somewhere off 5 or 92, but I am willing to travel if need be.

External frame pack

I’m trying to put together a kit that would have been similar to what would have been used in the early to mid 90’s. A buddy and I are going to do flashback backpacking trip in the Smokey’s this fall. Complete with Whisperlite stove, Denim pants, and heavy duty Danner Boots.

I’ve been able to get a lot of gear from my uncle like his stove, cook kit, and down bag but I’m missing a pack.

What packs were people using back then that were rugged and durable? I’ve seen a couple of Kelty Tioga and Trekker bags on Marketplace for fairly cheap.

If y’all have any other suggestions for gear I’ll take it. I’m bringing a 35mm film camera and waxed canvas tarp for shelter.

Looking for Raleigh natives

Any Raleigh natives or long time Raleigh residents that remember a place in Knightdale called Knightdale BBQ? I remember as a kid that place always being packed. I moved out of state about 20 years ago and was planning to bring my kids up to experience the NC state fair in Oct. I was hoping the place was still around. This trip is gonna bring back a lot of memories.

On X Backpacking.

I’m looking to drop Gaia as my main mapping app for trips. They keep increasing the price without adding to the value of the app. It seems like my only two options are CalTopo and OnX Backpacking. I have some experience with CalTopo but I find it works better on a desktop or a tablet than it does on a phone. I don’t have any experience with OnX. I get ads all the time on YouTube for it though so I’d imagine it’s fairly popular. For people who have made the switch from Gaia what do you like and what do you miss?

This goes without saying….

But I’m gonna say it anyway. Looking back on the season, and all the adversity we faced, from losing most of our D Core to injuries at the beginning of the season, to Svech’s shitty start to the season, to Bussi losing a step after the Olympics, these dudes have abso-fucking-lutely battled this year to be where they are. Regardless of whether we win the cup or not, I am unbelievably proud to call myself a Caniac. What this team has accomplished this year, it’s humbling to me. These dudes have been through the wringer, compared to that my life has been easy. Vegas better take warning cause the Cat 5 makes landfall tomorrow night. Let’s Fucking Go Canes!!!

Panthertown or Bust

My 45L pack is bursting at the seams. I’m headed out to Panthertown after work tomorrow, rain be damned. Maybe I’ll get lucky and catch some native brookies during the breaks in the weather. Where is everyone headed for Memorial Day Weekend?

A long shot but…

Alright fellow backpacking Canes fans. I am headed with a group of guys to Panthertown Valley for a backpacking trip this weekend. We got a 6pm start time for the game Saturday and I refuse to miss a game. Does anyone who frequents the area know of any decent camping spots inside Panthertown that you remember having decent signal? The guys have agreed to camp in a spot with signal so I can watch the game. One buddy is even gonna bring a mini projector so we can watch it on the side of my hammock tarp. Any help is appreciated.

Post season goaltendingt

If you had told me at the beginning of the season that Freddie would be dominating the top of the stats in the post season, I would have to call you a liar. Freddie has been a brick wall. I’m hoping we see more of it in the next series.

A lot of people either sleep on or don’t know about Rose City Band. I’m here to spread the good word. Put on your dancing shoes. Psychedelic country is the medicine you didn’t know you needed.
