Has anyone else had trouble with Elan Financial?

I have my work 401k, RSU and a brokerage account with Fidelity. Until recently, I had a credit card as well which I very much liked.

Unfortunately, I had a charge dispute with them that they failed to rectify. I have written physical (snail mail) letters attempting to resolve the issue. I have even cc’ed the merchant on such correspondence because they side with me but no luck.

Secondhand Time - Svetlana Alexievich

Unbelievable. Amazing. But crushingly sad. Alexievich interviews citizens of the former USSR about their lives, their histories (many were prisoners in the Gulag and/or WWII veterans). Many are just the thoughts of average Russians (usually) about the collapse of communism. Many are, with good reason, bitter about how the economy was looted, their savings destroyed, careers ruined. Some stories are so shocking that you can’t imagine anyone living through it. Highly recommend.

Why can’t Israel accept the Iranians having the bomb?

Yes, I’m aware of Ahmenejad’s statement in 2005 or 2006 that he wanted to “wipe Israel off the map”. But that was one leader. Have there been more statements?

And so what? Soviet leaders long predicted the American system would collapse and that it was in a life for death struggle against the capitalist world. None of that stopped the US from practicing peaceful containment against the USSR. Why can’t Israel do the same?

What is the deal with The Pillars of the Earth?

I get that it is a great book but I’m just really surprised at how many people from different backgrounds, people I would even expect to like HF absolutely love that book.
