The Blair Witch Project: What made the original so scary is its excellent use of the unknown. The lack of a monster to show made it so terrifying because whatever we imagined is infinitely scarier than what they could've shown us. Then the remake made the blair witch look like the incest monster from barbarian :/

The Shining: The overlook in my opinion is one of the scariest entities in horror cinema. Partly because it might not even be an entity, until the door opens at the end every scene with ghosts has nothing supernatural happen that can't be explained by us just seeing the perspective of a crazed man. The fear of an abusive father driven to insanity by cabin fever is just as horrifying as the ghosts. And even then the haunting isn't just "Le crazy ghosts", if we go supernatural then Grady is FAR from this hotels only presence. The hotel itself seems alive and why and how is an answer infinitely scarier then the human mind can comprehend... Unless you look at Dr Sleep and the IT series which confirms the hotel is actually just a poop shard from a giant shart an elder god had and the shining is howey dowey magic bullshit on par with harry potter. Don't ask how Dick could conquer an interdimensional being that makes cuthulu look like a minecraft squid yet was easily bested by an asshole with an ax.

I feel like this movie was overlooked because of curry barker’s obsession. And don’t get it wrong, that movie may be the best horror film of the decade. But Is God Is was also a very good movie and I don’t think people really paid attention to it. This movie was a mythic quest man, it’s gonna be the best Odyssey adaptation this year. everything is so mythical it’s WONDERFUL!
