ARTICLE: Spending scandal at Conestoga College is a reminder of Canada's shameful international student boom
nationalpost.comWhy was the local Canadian Tire issued approval for 35 TFW work permits in the first place?
The CT that was fined $111,000 last year because "wages, work conditions or the job did not match what was listed in offers of employment and that employees were assigned to work different roles than what they were hired for" was given approval for 35 roles since 2022. The fine has since been paid, which means they're eligible to do the same thing again.
I mean...what the heck. Youth unemployment was between 15-20% during that time. You could have thrown a rock from a roof and hit someone looking for work in Etobicoke. Who on earth was vetting these applications? 35 workers...were any Canadians working there?
This stuff makes my blood boil. Take "Canadian" off the name already.
