[4.6] My analysis of the story/ lore from this patch!

[4.6] My analysis of the story/ lore from this patch!

Nihilux’s Q&A

Nihilux’s “dancing in chains” analogy suggests her definition of Elation is “rebelling against cruelty”, as I said in my last theory. She tells us Nanook’s weakness too: THEMSELF. THEIR power might be turned on THEM somehow, though this approach could backfire. She uses he/him so I think she refers to who Nanook was before ascension: someone who resented his inability to save his home. She uses “he” for Akivili too. Maybe Aeons just know how the others self-identify?

She says she’s the Aha in Simulated Universe, which would explain Herta’s concern THEY keep becoming sentient. This includes the Aha who helped when Polka attacked in the Unknowable Domain event.

Asat said an Aeon sees THEIR fall when THEY ascend. Nihilux adds THEY experience the entirety of THEIR concept too – she became numb to joy, so no wonder she hates being an Aeon. THEIR first laugh was likely a cynical one, especially if the child THEY saw was THEIR future self, as Venpasa suggested given alt!Trailblazer’s prediction in 4.4:

A divine infant will fall to the mortal world. With its first cry, it will usher in an era of "madness" for the entire cosmos.

She says she put “Tayzzyronth on Oroboros’ menu,” then called Qlipoth for help. They were all involved in the Swarm Disaster, which makes me think the Aeons – or at least Aha – were always targeting Oroboros then; Tayzzronth was secondary. She names both the “beasts and swarm” as threats when recounting the Disaster to the Tavern later as well. She implies Aha and Oroboros ascended due to the “aftertaste” theft. She gave Oroboros “satisfaction” in exchange, but it didn’t last. Maybe THEY’VE sought it ever since, making them even more ravenous? (Thank Venpasa for this part too.)

According to her, there are 16 guesses about the Fourth Finality, but if you exclude the three confirmed Paths, there are only 15 left. She says Paths come and go and Asat says a new Path is forming in the husk, so there you go.

Finally, she says she wanted to help sooner, but her actions usually make things worse. Either because HooH tries to “balance” her good deeds or Elation is inherently chaotic.

Aha is Dead

Whether Oroboros ate Aha or the latter was assimilated into THEM, we knew Aha fell in Moonlit Tales; the Moon Knight was poisoned by the giant snake. THEIR Paths were entwined since their beginnings so them fusing makes sense. This fusion is likely what the mutated mask at the end is.

Both “Elation as hedonism” and Voracity are about greed, so could that be the new Path? Venpasa suggested “Desire” based on what the Fools say at the end.

Funnily enough, in 4.3 it was theorised in-universe Asat wanted to kill Aha by turning THEM from THEIR Path. In truth we might get the Path collision Kafka warned us about in 1.0. Alternatively, Nihilux will “evolve” Elation to be independent of Voracity, making it safer to remove the husk – for example, Elation could take authority over Wishpower.

An aspect of this new Path might be “chaos”, which would explain the apparent opposition from HooH. Not to mention Aventurine lost a coin toss, which is already bizarre, because the coin broke.

Yabuli, Kuchiba and Leviathans

We knew Wishpower came from Oroboros but the Life Science production lines imply all leviathans have it, since their flesh makes up imagenae cores. On Planarcadia, they’re drawn to imagenae when they form. On Astropolis, imagenae are artificially formed around them.

Leviathans store memories in their bodies which can be inherited, since Yabuli never asks for the oldest leviathans to dissect. Marcus was an attempt by Yabuli to create a human who could survive and understand leviathan knowledge by transforming his body with Abundance. This created the Herald of Death – Asat swapped in Shuhu’s flesh, but she knew the risk and let Marcus use it anyway.

The leviathan Asat sensed in 4.5 was cloned from Marcus’ body post-transformation (this is why Lighthouse could control it somewhat), so Yabuli’s experiment bore some fruit. She’d already fused with it, so him calling her a leviathan was also the truth. One of her boss attacks surrounds your team with giant eyes, so the eyes watching Kuchiba and Pearl’s conversation in 4.2 were Voracity, not Order as some thought.

Kuchiba is a leviathan’s descendant, which might be how she relearned “aftertaste”. She considers being patient enough to savor food “true Voracity”, which rings true given it was stolen from Oroboros. I like her misdirection early on, implying she cares about people as food, only to say later that they taste terrible and she just likes the joy they bring.

But she was “the devil in black” who tempted Nephea into staving the Weathering Curse off with atrocities, so she doesn’t have a clean track record. Maybe she was still learning to be human at the time. She said the husk might still be conscious, which explains it speaking to Trailblazer in 4.1: that wasn’t just a reflex action.

Other

  • Sampo is most likely Bragi, who was Enroute’s contemporary at the Tavern and resigned after he left – which would explain why he didn’t have his mask until after 2.0 (thanks again, Venpasa!) Nihilux entrusts the Planarcadians caught in Asat’s attack to Bragi because “he has a spare key to the tavern”; Sampo takes the civilians there. She says Bragi’s reliable; Sampo helps coordinate her anti-Oroboros plan. Someone she trusts so much would make a good Emanator - what is Sampo’s pistol rating again?
    • Sampo says he has a bad leg in the “Family Letter” readable. Bragi says he hurt his legs in the JP version of his resignation letter. This could just mean he’s tired, but if not… (Thanks, Atlas!)
  • Nihilux might have blown her cover by the end of the patch. Not counting her transformation, Asat knows who she is now, and Aventurine deduced Aha is on her gondola. Everyone acknowledges her as the leader of the Mourning Actors, so anyone who knows her origin story from Moonlit Tales could deduce her identity. If Sampo really is Bragi, he might know too.
  • She wrote Fluffy to store Wishpower for this moment. This combined with her knowing Evanescia and Yao Guang are fine implies a limited future foresight ability (though not as strong as Nous or Terminus’), but it also paints her dodging deadlines in a new light.
    • The Fluffy pages Evanescia showed in 4.0 showed the Express arriving in Planarcadia before it actually did too.
  • On top of outing Sampo, the Oroboros Stratagem Proposal plants some death flags for Aha, though they’re vague enough to imply Nihilux plans to evolve instead.
  • The reflected moon in the Courtyard is now the gondola, furthering Aha’s moon symbolism.
  • Since Evanescia’s mask was voided by her protecting the Elwood, Trailblazer gave her the drawn mask from 4.0. This means they’re either using Asat’s mask, or the one Nihilux gave them is a new Supplicant mask.
  • Nihilux said she stole “aftertaste” to give Qlipoth’s armies a chance to defeat Oroboros, suggesting THEY were a significant threat even pre-Ascension, and mortal Aha fought in the Dusk Wars.
  • It’s possible Asat’s vendetta was against the first Aha (the Moon Knight from Moonlit Tales), so he has no issues with Nihilux. He may even approve of her.

Smaller Points

  • The One-Eyed Owl Ashveil mentioned is a Galaxy Ranger trying to settle old scores with him, according to a 4.1 readable.
  • Kuchiba’s “when the story comes to a close” speech comes from the 2^(nd) Fate collab. The “great man” she quoted is Gilgamesh.
  • Yabuli’s cooperation is how Dr. Primitive almost wiped the Galaxy Rangers out on Vonwacq.
  • The Lord Ravager Remains Report confirms Asat suffers the Withering Curse, but his damaged cells regenerate.
  • Please please please have “About” lines for the Aeons, Nihilux.

Closing

A bit later than usual, but I hope everyone still likes reading these! Also I'd like to know if you'd watch/ listen a YT version of this. Either way, here's a to a great 4.7!

So... THAT's what people hated about the 3.7 story?

I know there were other factors to CN!R1999 being hated when they got 3.7, but I don't really understand why Merel's story was so controversial. It sucks >!that she got reversed the way she did, but she died being the hero she never thought she could be after an arc about her running from her problems. That was great and her dying so close to safety!< just drives the knife deeper.

And while it's >!not Merel, Rhiannon is living the (relatively) peaceful life she always wanted and she's still the girlfail with a heart of gold we all know and love. I wish we had more time with Merel too, but...!< wasn't that the point?

Some questions about Xenoblade 3 and Future Redeemed

  1. Takahashi dodged the "how is Malos there" question re. Sword of the End, but do we know how N got it in the first place? I've seen a theory suggesting it was Melia's original anti-Moebius weapon before N defected, but Lucky Seven was already ready to go during FR (unless Melia had a bunch of special swords raring to go).
  2. The answer is probably the same as "how is Malos there", but how would Pneuma get into the Ouroboros Knuckles? The way the Q&A phrased it, it feels like past characters can "look down" into Aionios and decide "he (e.g. Ghondor) looks important, I'll help him" and manifest as their weapon.
    1. Also how did N know this? Should I assume he or Z figured out he had Logos and figured out Matthew had Pneuma as a result?
  3. Non-Ouroboros can't change their default Blade, so how did Noah change his to be a container for Lucky Seven AND double as a gauntlet when drawn? I like the idea of him inheriting Matthew's Gauntlets, but that doesn't make sense either.
    1. If Riku "hacked his programming" to make it possible, wouldn't he be way more suspicious?

I have some other questions I can't remember at the moment. I like Xenoblade 3, but a lot of details like this feel like they're determined by "what's cooler/ more emotional" instead of "what makes sense". Again, I still like X3 overall.

Thank you for your answers!

Anything else I can use my degree for?

Another "frustration" post.

Jobseeking is a dead-end for me at this point. Is there a potential career in doing Leetcode exercises on YouTube or any other way I can transfer the skills I used to get this overpriced piece of paper people call a degree?

Thanks in advance.

Where are the best places to look for jobs?

Over two years of searching and still nothing to show for it. I use the big name sites like LinkedIn and Indeed, but these days there's no guarantee the jobs I'm applying to are even real. Either nothing happens, someone emails me then ghosts me or in the incredibly rare cases where I get an interview, I'll get ghosted anyway or told off-hand that they already found someone.

Need advice on what my channel should be about.

I'm Roonco SP on YouTube (I'd add a link but I'm not allowed to here).

I've had the channel for many, many years with nothing to show for it. A few years ago I made a video about Megatron from the Transformers IDW Comics which somehow blew up and got me 1000 subs.

While it's probably the only video of mine I like, I just talked about a specific character arc I really liked; I didn't intend to make a career out of Transformers comics. In the time since I've gotten to 2k subs. If you check my videos you'll see I've thrown a lot of ideas on the wall and none of them stuck. I'm currently making lore/ theory videos for Honkai: Star Rail and I'm lucky if they pass 100 views.

So... yeah. I'm not sure what to do. I like the theory videos and I got a whole two comments on my last one which felt great, but it's frustrating to know I'm putting in way more time and effort into them than their cumulative watch time. I've tried more Transformers videos on other topics I was interested in, but even those don't do that well. I could branch out into other Transformers media? I need an excuse to catch up on the new comic continuity.

I could pivot to JRPGs (or gachas) in general, since I like those? I could start vlogging/ ranting about how hard it is to get jobs right now, since that's something I'm struggling with? Leetcode solutions, maybe?

Any and all advice is massively appreciated, thank you so much in advance!

4.3 Breakdown, including an analysis of Asat and Himeko!

YouTube version.

Asat

Relevant.

He WAS Absenti after all, but the name in Bragi’s Letter was changed to Enroute*. I think this was in 4.2 since we got “Stories of Enroute” then. He was also Isee, a former Navigator.

\* The name "Doris" was also changed to Ms. Dorothy at some point.

I think he wanted a purpose in life. He got bored of the Tavern and joined the Express to find one, asking Akivili what the point of Trailblazing when it lacked a clear goal. According to his Relic Set, he gave up on Trailblaze having an answer when Akivili fell, though Nanook’s ascension also broke him in some way.

Like Shush, he told lots of bad jokes – maybe that’s where Shush gets it from – but Falcon says he was charismatic enough to hold the Express together. He said this after Isee used cruel games to maintain morale though; for example stranding Nameless on planets with few supplies. It’s implied some of them may have died, so I’m not sure what Falcon meant. Either Isee used to be normal, or some people didn’t know his methods.

His Cosmodyssey entry was edited by History Fictionologists: this might be Omen Vanguard part. Otherwise Asat erased info of his becoming a Ravager and blamed it on them. Since Isee is alive, either the “Isee on Adlivun” wasn’t created by a past Phantasmoon winner, it was a physical memory of his visit there or it was someone else, like Elio.

If he was honest about only lying to Himeko when they first met as Ryusuke, he has the Weathering Curse, which drives males mad. This might be how he snapped on Adlivun. Alternatively, the real Ryusuke got the Weathering Curse, which makes more sense given Asat follows Destruction.

Asat’s Powers

Asat manipulates probabilities, both in personal combat and his greater schemes – hence his target planets being destroyed in freak accidents. This needs balance though: Ryusuke says planets who survive his attacks get great luck after and at the end of 4.3 Asat says he gave Planarcadia 15 years of it in advance.

So if he generates good luck for himself, he needs to be unlucky later. He could lose if he’s forced to “reroll” his fights so much he’s forced to pay the debt on the spot. Alternatively, Yao Guang could “lock in” a future where he loses with the decalight system she started setting up. The new Destruction materials are about him offering “rerolls” for his and others’ fates. I think Welt reminding us of Stellaron wishes could be foreshadowing TB using one to fight luck with luck (or wishes) too.

Asat Bonus Facts

  • Both Asat and Isee’s names are Buddhist, which was an early hint to their connection. Read together they’re “no self”. If you take Isee as is and read his names in order you get “en route I see nothing”. Both describe Asat’s past and maybe why he became a Ravager.
  • If Asat does have the Weathering Curse, it may mean he doesn’t believe in Destruction and acts for other reasons.
  • Ryusuke interrupts the battle start effect in Himeko’s flashback, which could be another Elation fourth wall break.
  • The instruction Ryusuke was apparently given on his commission is the same Asat gave Graphia: to mark “our lasting glory, just before the world meets its destruction”. Sounds a lot different when spoken by the aggressor, doesn’t it?
  • Asat is our first in-person evil Nameless, albeit a former one – and a long time coming!

Aha and Oroboros

Wishpower is confirmed to be Voracity by Ruan Mei citing it as fuel for Aha’s Games and Graphia using it to make imagenae. Both Vonwacq and Planarcadia have parts of Oroboros on them, held in place with Abundance, implying this is Aha’s go-to for containing THEM.

Aha stole Oroboros’ ability to enjoy THEIR food, making leviathans eat only for the sake of it. Elation may be a broader version of Voracity, similar to Harmony and Order. If so, the process of a Path absorbing another may take thousands of years, considering both Aeons were active in the Swarm Disaster. Perhaps stealing Oroboros’ Primum Mobile was just one step in that process. This happened around when Akivili started travelling though, so there may be more to it.

Graphia

Murata was the Astral Express and the last stand of its Nameless inspired her to help Ahatopia instead of destroy it, so the story is still right about her seeing the world’s suffering from it. She’s an imagenae psychopomp, which makes sense: who better to see them into the afterlife than their creator? She might have edited Caspar’s memories too, unless he was always childish and saw the fight with Asat as a snowball fight. Maybe frost giants naturally shrink to survive too.

We learn the Weathering Curse is caused by refusing to follow Destruction. This explains why Nephea seemed to be cured of it: she chose Destruction. Her demons might have been the ones Graphia summons too, not mutated imagenae as I first thought. The golden marks on Fugue and Aglaea could be similar symptoms.

Graphia quotes* the Drifting Grease poem on the Furbobo site (under the article for the new side quest). She would know the significance of it, but maybe she wrote the original?

\* her version is slightly different, but this could be a localization error. Can someone who uses other languages take a look, please?

Himeko

Himeko is an imagenae copy! However, she seemed to have the Weathering Curse too, unless she was mimicking her original. The dead Himeko is who she wanted to visit on Planarcadia and the imagined conversation partner in her fourth story. Evanescia met the real Himeko without the current one knowing, despite them living together. This being a secret is why Evanescia was so quick to change the subject when she realised her mistake when meeting our Himeko in 4.1. This Himeko may have called herself Murata and signed the Express logs as such at first, then changed her mind.

She might have some of Graphia’s memories though. Unless the original considered herself a Nameless, there were none on Planarcadia to have “guided” Himeko. Both her and Graphia’s Phantasmoon Games ended with no victor because they spent their Wishpower stopping a threat, which history assumed meant they won. Perhaps Asat moulded Himeko to act like Graphia, just to see what would happen and how he went wrong the first time. Graphia’s hairstyle even resembles HI3’s Himeko. Graphia fixing the Express would explain why no one found Murata since her time, though I don't know how Himeko would get on it. Unless our Himeko is a part of Graphia who manifested as real!Himeko's friend?

Himeko’s mech is the Vanishing Giant. People only saw an arm defeat Marcus Antali and the IPC tried to suppress the event, but it still fascinated Planarcadia enough to create the mechatron imagenae. While people don’t have the imagination to animate large imagenae any more, Himeko may have summoned it now because it became a legend in the years since.

Other

  • The third way an Aeon can die is to turn from THEIR Path. Fall of an Aeon shows Tayzzyronth abandon Propagation to survive, which might have killed them had the other Aeons not dealt with THEM first.
  • Yokai exist on Planarcadia after all, but they’re nearly extinct there. This happened when the IPC took over, implying they’re to blame. Perhaps they and Punklorde’s hackers changed Benzaitengoku to make it more “palatable” to outsiders. I’d love to see this explored more.
  • Marcus knew the Elwood was an Abundance construct and wanted to surpass “her”, so he also knew of Evanescia. I don’t know how they could have met without Eva stopping him, so perhaps Shuhu’s flesh sensed her?
  • The octopus mask is Shuhu’s so as his container, Blade should be eligible for it and thus the Games. Its altar didn’t reset so he can pick up where Fulwish left off.
  • Asat tampered with Trailblazer’s mask to enter the World in Canvas, which might be an issue later.
  • March says Trailblazer is different after the Elation upgrade; a sign of Wishpower controlling them? 4.1 taught us the dangers of that. (There’s a singer in Inkford who can’t die because she’s too famous too.)
  • Dan Heng says the Elwood’s seal on Oroboros is weakening and Umralle’s Notes say the same of the Myriad Wish Grove. The latter may be an extension of the former. There may be more offshoots if there are other spiritual places on Planarcadia.
  • The new Frog VI chapter may be about Graphia; the “loyal betrayal” may be her rejecting Asat to protect her home.
  • Pamyuski, one of the creators of Star Rabbit, hated frogs, foxes and monkeys. As those are the four animals from Grease Chronicles, he might have known about Planarcadia’s past.
  • The Exodia cards from Star Rabbit come from him, via Eliza. Their basis on Pom-Pom makes sense knowing he was a big fan of the Nameless.
  • I think the patterns on the bottom of Himeko Nova’s cape are star charts similar to those on Isee’s robe?

Liveness Check refuses to work

Hi all!

I've got the Android app and was asked to verify myself. I've completed the Personal Details and Right to Work sections as well as the voice recognition part of the Liveness Check, but it just refuses to recognize my face. I've been trying to figure this out for the better part of two weeks and can't find any way to contact Experian.

No phone numbers online, the AI chatbot on their website doesn't work and for some reason the support service in the app only lists incoming messages with no way to send one yourself. I can't even find third-party tutorials/ guides!

Can someone help me out, please?

I'm in the UK, FWIW.

[4.2] Breaking down Evanescia's new lore!

YouTube version.

Evanescia’s here now. Her Character Stories and voice lines flesh out what she said about herself in 4.2, so I’ll cover some highlights and how she might connect to the greater Xianzhou plotline.

Character Stories

The first story tells us Evanescia was planted on Ahatopia first, then it was settled by people who performed games to seal “death and the wilderness”. The latter must be Oroboros, whether they knew it or not. This makes it more likely Aha planted Evanescia specifically to contain THEM and THEIR games on other planets may also be to seal other threats (maybe other parts of Oroboros).

At first, the ancient tree in the hidden courtyard simply listened in solitude. But the Nameless Place never returned to silence. Visitors from beyond the sky and travelers from distant lands paused here, by chance or by fate. They gave the land a name and called it home. They thanked it, through ancient games and rituals that sealed death and the wilderness forever within the abyss.

Her tree self tried to understand human behaviour, but it was only during Asat’s attack that it clicked. Their prayers to the tree for safety imagenated her as a guardian. In other words, their hopes were Wishpower moulding her into that role. This is confirmed in her “About Self: Past” voiceline.

Through these repeating rites, it began to wonder: What is laughter? What is sorrow? Why do people sing? Why do they weep? Why do some leave and never return? Then, calamity slammed down from beyond the sky, and Destruction swept away all life on this land in a devastating wave. At last, it came to understand laughter and tears. Why people sang and wept. And why they could never return.

A long time ago, people would whisper their deepest secrets to the Ambrosial Arbor that fell into Planarcadia, tying red strings of prayer to its branches... Thanks to the masks of The Laughter, the Wishpower of the mortal realm imagenated me into who I am now: the Guardian of the Phantasmoon Games.

Apparently “the spirit of the tree” would visit people in their dreams before this. Where did this idea come from? Did someone know about her past or was this a legend made from scratch? If so, it may be why Eva formed as we know her. Of course this part may be an embellishment added to the story after Evanescia was born.

In those beautiful legends, when the moon was full, the spirit of the sacred tree would take the shape of a mischievous maiden, and visit the dreams of the devout to grant their wishes.

This story is Eva’s notes on some Phantasmoon Games. The first is for one in the World in Canvas, then called the Phantasmoon Etiquette. Perhaps one of these older versions is when she saw Emanators fight. Handheld consoles caught her eye in this era, so I assume it was the equivalent of our early millennium. (That she has time to write these means she doesn’t disappear the moment a Game ends.)

And this curio is called a handheld console. From the screen you see and hear people in it. Fun little thing, I miss it greatly if I stop playing for even a moment. The Phantasmoon Etiquette ended unbearably early...

— Notes on Life in Ahatopia (II)

The next two entries are changed to “Life in Planarcadia” instead of “Ahatopia”, meaning they were written after the IPC restored it. As we know, this modernised Planarcadia too. Evanescia has a phone now. There’s new fashion, idols and slang. You can even see Evanescia’s vocabulary changing to match. While she likes the IPC’s changes, she notes how people are chasing greater highs from entertainment and others are getting hurt as a result. The anecdote about the children she couldn’t save comes from 4.2’s quest.

A device for communicating across thousands of miles is called a 'phone.' Ritual performers are called 'idols.' Short-sleeved shirts are called 't-shirts.' Jokes are called 'memes.' Companions are called 'besties' or 'bros,' and 'I'm psyched!' means you are ecstatic... I completely understand now!

— Notes on Life in Planarcadia (VIII)

Fam, I'm living the dream! First time at a con today, first time cosplaying. I'm in my favorite character's outfit, wig on, makeup done, standing in front of the mirror... is that really me?

But everyone's tolerance to jokes are getting better and better, and putting on bigger shows. Supplicants are pulling out all the stops for views. I rescued those kidnapped children, but I couldn't use Abundance to heal them... If I lost control, it would've caused an even worse disaster...

— Notes on Life in Planarcadia (XVI)

The final line says people shaped her before she perceived them, which I think means she was influenced by the Wishpower which created her.

But the joy and sorrow, fear and dread she has touched... do they really drift away with the wind?
Even before the moment of her perception, she has already been shaped by everything she has felt.

Story 3 is how Evanescia dealt with the “Vitality of Words” winner mentioned in-game and the video released before 4.0. Those versions just said “words” ran away but we get the full context here: words became physical representations of themselves; sentient weapons, monsters and so on, with absent code shutting down the planet’s defenses.

The Vitality of Words

In 2146 AE, a massive textual escape occurred simultaneously across the universe. On more than ten thousand planets, written words gained life and the ability to move, fleeing from information receptacles such as books and screens.

(Story 3):

Sixty seconds on the clock, a minute until words vanish completely.

The word "Blade" races, glinting through the streets. The "Spear" and "Bullet" join forces, becoming indiscriminate killers tearing across the roads.

The "Demon King of the Century," the "Master of Destruction," the "Sisters of Reticence"... Born from the entertainment industry's books, they feed on people's terror.

As all the Code sneak away, digital devices go dark, Planarcadia's defensive facilities shut down completely, security officers fall in great numbers.

She solved the issue by having the Elwood drain the life out of the word monsters, which we now know is something Abundance can do. This story ends by saying the letters became a new language, though this may have been Aha or the winner’s doing.

The Ambrosial Arbor in the courtyard lowered its endless branches from the void and grabbed the rampaging word monsters. The branches drain the life from the words, leaving them floating like withered leaves.

Afterward, the severed symbols are then woven into a reborn language for future generations.

The world looked older after this so either the Elwood drained too much life or the winner did more than just set words loose. Perhaps they were an IPC member exerting more influence on it. This is a stretch, but this event may be why Planarcadia uses non-Japanese names for the yokai and – since the text uses “yellowed” to mean “aged” – the sakura trees became gingkos. (“Sorrowful girl” could imply she was aware she’d have this effect.)

But the world appears aged, yellowed. The earth cracked open, mountains and valleys diminished into dust, and a sorrowful girl fell from the sky.

Story 4 is Evanescia’s pre-Arbor life told through dreams, as explained to Yao Guang. Her people were desperate for immortality, but if the dreams are told in order she got Yaoshi’s blessing before fighting Hua, so she could either move around after turning into a tree or that was its own thing.

She lamented her dying kin. No matter how hard she tried to save them, they peaked at youth, froze, and plummeted into old age. Their tears falling on her hands were searing.

She said in 4.2 she consumed the Crimson Moon, which ties her to the borisins and her story resembles Duran’s, the one who created it. (His story is told in the Planars you got for Feixiao and never saw again.) He was born on Verdantia and sought Yaoshi’s blessing for his suffering people. The borisins saw killing the foxians on their world as Yaoshi’s test to get it. They passed and went on to attack other planets in THEIR name.

After foreseeing the end where the entire world shall be covered in bleak death … [Duran] made a wish to the Master of Immortality, hoping for sustenance enough to keep the world's people alive.

Then, the people understood the truth: Everything that the Master of Immortality could give had been given, and if the people wished to have better lives, they must take more by themselves.

The validity of this story is contested in-universe and seen as just an excuse for the borisin’ barbarism. However, the basic elements map onto Evanescia’s past as the Swordsinger. The foxian version of the story even says Duran was a woman called “Tushan”. Zongguang, the anthropologist who disputed the specifics of the legend also conceded the borisins aren’t the dumb brutes others see them as: for example, their idolatry of strength means they value anyone who proves themselves, even foxians. (Hence Hoolay wanting Feixiao to lead the borisin.)

No concrete evidence supports the occurrence of this plague catastrophe in history. Certain historical sources suggest that the author of these songs fabricated this legend to validate the divine legitimacy of Duran's reign.

The foxian legends called this lady Tushan, but the borisin sagas called this man Duran.

Over the six months that we lived on Pisdo, I discovered that the diverse evaluation system of borisin society actually led to bustling vitality, not oppression at all. … The foxian slaves rose up and formed their very own pack. Not only did borisin not use their "slave lineage" against them, the majority of borisin now fear them due to their savage and merciless actions.

Maybe Tushan was a foxian who won the respect of foxians and borisins alike, and her story was warped by future generations to justify the borisins’ actions. I sure haven’t seen that happen IRL!

Voice Lines

These offer smaller tidbits. For example, her Master Fox is an overleveled tamagotchi and she confirms she only appears during the Phantasmoon Games.

Hobbies: Digital Pet Egg

Who could've imagined that the tiny Master Fox would turn into my trusty assistant?

Something to Share

I can only manifest in the physical world while the Phantasmoon Games are happening.

In her Phantasmoon Games line, she reiterates the Ahatopians played them to “suppress the wickedness beneath the earth” but future generations forgot this part and the format changed. This doesn’t mean they knew what the threat was though.

Knowledge: Phantasmoon Games

In the beginning, the people of Planarcadia held ceremonies to entertain the gods and cast out evil, all to suppress the wickedness beneath the earth. Over time, the format changed, and people gradually forgot its original purpose.

She says Ashveil’s situation is right out of a manga, but Planarcadia is where such things happen. I may be reading too much into this, but the unpredictability of Wishpower might function like the Infinite Improbability Drive from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, making absurdities happen as a side effect of their intended purpose.

About Ashveil

On the surface, a washed-up detective with nothing to his name. Underneath, a renowned Ranger hero... Sounds straight out of a comic book, right? Planarcadia is exactly the kind of place where the unexpected is always possible.

Closing Thoughts

Evanescia says she called herself that because it fleeting, yet beautiful blooms. Just like sakuras!

About Self: "Evanescia"

I came up with the name myself. What do you think? Doesn't it have a nice ring to it? Evanescia, Evanescia... It's just like that moment when something beautiful is in full bloom. Even if it's fleeting, it becomes eternal in your heart.

Also, if Evanescia came to life thanks to Wishpower, it’s possible Oroboros’ remains could do the same if people knew there was something dangerous hidden on Planarcadia; similar to Gopher Wood recreating the Swarm Disaster to put Penaconians in the right mindset for Ena’s return. If so, everyone forgetting the reason for the Games is a good thing and reminding them could be one of Asat’s goals. We saw how nonchalant people were about their imminent deaths in Evanescia’s trailer, after all. Thank Venpasa for this Oroboros theory and the Duran connection.

He also reminded me of the Kraken from 4.0, who was created from people’s fear of sea monsters but lost its power when forgotten, eventually becoming just a fast food mascot. I mentioned a Kraken superstition in 4.2, but there was no concrete basis for this Kraken. This could be how a fake Oroboros could appear.

Also, is anyone else curious about Nihilux manipulating her dreams in her second trailer? She keeps getting more mysterious!

I'd like to get Spd boots but I doubt I'd get any with better rolls than the Atk boots I currently have. So I think my best call is to get a CR body with more CDMG rolls and get the last 0.3% CR I need from a better head piece, right?

I guess there's a non-zero chance I'll get enough CR substats to hit 100% out whatever I farm next so I can switch to a CD body instead, but is that really going to happen? xD

P.S. I'm aware Mushy is better for her but Fribbels prefers the Event LC for some reason.

With the end of an arc and the start of another, let’s go over what we learned in 4.2.

Here's the video version. Even if you don't watch it, please just let it play muted in another tab so I get more views. Thanks!

Oroboros and Wishpower

The final reveal from Kuchiba is Oroboros’ remains are hidden in the World of Canvas and the IPC wants them. The thing in 4.1 must be part or all of them. We know from the 4.1 Grease Chronicles that a dead whale is the source of life and technology on Planarcadia. Since Wishpower is also a source for these things, Oroboros probably generates it.

A new readable tells us Wishpower is present everywhere in the universe, but takes a usable “Binary” form on Planarcadia which is why imagenae originate there. Wishpower is also the Primum Mobile Aeons have, a way of life THEY’RE forced to adhere to. This must be why Screwllum says Wishpower is similar to the energy fuelling Aeons in 4.1’s DU quest.

4.1's readables taught us Wishpower can control its recipient: is this the same as being constrained by a Primum Mobile and does it mean winners can’t do anything to contradict how they’re believed to act (on top of Aha putting a spin on their wishes)?

If Oroboros produces Wishpower and it’s everywhere, it implies Oroboros is the first Aeon and maybe the source of Paths in general, so no wonder the IPC wants to recover THEIR body and stops others researching THEM! This also explains why Ruan Mei and Stephen are researching them.

The readable says Binary Wishpower is formed by the Phantasmoon, but maybe it’s only here because Oroboros is instead – making THEM the “kitten” Sparkle said was killed so Planarcadia could be what it is today (or maybe she just meant Oroboros’ body fuels everything there).

The "Binary" in Binary Wishpower might mean HooH is involved somehow, explaining why an Equilibrium Mask is the final unlock of the new DU. Regardless of THEM, this may mean the Games are held to sate Oroboros’ hunger for Wishpower.

No one knows why the Supplicants need to accumulate it after all; perhaps as soon as the Games end, all of it is fed to Oroboros or to strengthen whatever seal Aha built around THEM, since Evanescia mentions one. In Silver Wolf’s voice line about the Games she says the people are the ones “getting played”.

There’s precedence for this. Screwllum said Aha set up other “Elation games” across the universe, one of them being the Demon Hunts of Vonwacq. Until then there was no indication Aha had anything to do with them, but the Abundance material added in 2.1 says of how demons keep being born there:

"Through this method, the ancient sages imprisoned the most terrifying thing within a most ridiculous game."

This is almost word for word how Evanescia describes herself being trapped on Planarcadia. Maybe Aha’s games are THEIR way of sealing threats? The Phantasmoon appears to eat Trailblazer when they almost die and is the surprise antagonist of the anniversary web event. Combined with the Grease story (and some DU Equations) hinting the Moon is damaged, I think it’s either part of the seal or the problem itself.

Then the Games’ prize changing to being Aha forever might mean the winner keeps all of that Wishpower for themself, thus setting Oroboros free. Maybe the winners have never been Aha, they just felt so much Wishpower for a minute they thought they’d become a god.

But since Asat's goal is to kill Aha, if the winner DOES become THEM permanently, his aim may be to kill them while they’re acclimating to godhood. As for his fellow Ravagers: Voracity and Permanence were speculated Paths Luxbane targets. It might not be Voracity if Asat wants to release Oroboros – unless freeing THEM is necessary to kill them permanently.

This part is a stretch, but Oroboros’ name may be misspelt because it’s a reference to the demon Orobas, a horse-man with knowledge of past, present and future. He can also answer how the world was created, which fits a possible source of everything in Planarcadia.

But if you stick to Oroboros as a sea monster, there are some readables about a kraken near Seafeld. While one of them plays the kraken off as an old man’s superstition, a second notes bizarre occurrences in the sea which temporarily drove the author mad and the third is about two people who found a nearby cave: one disappeared without a trace and the other went mad permanently.

Evanescia

Her drip marketing might confirm she’s only awake during the Games. This is another reason why she didn’t think she could board the Express in 4.1:

"One season of Phantasmoon waxing full, one season of mortal ephemerality: the mysterious lady has appeared in Planarcadia once more! …her stay was but a fleeting instant. Everything about this new era enthralls her…"

According to a Furbobo article, she speed-reads to catch up on things she likes, which makes sense if she hibernates most of the time. The whole read is quite sad from that perspective.

She was an Elixir Seeker who wanted immortality for her people and also ate the Borisins’ Crimson Moon at some point, meaning she’s eligible to lead them. Yaoshi granted her wish by putting her in THEIR garden. Later, Aha stole a branch from it. This was Evanescia, but it’s unclear if THEY took part of her or Evanescia as a whole was just one branch on a bigger tree.

Regardless, THEY planted her on Benzaitengoku as described in Divergent Universe. She upheld the Games’ only rule – that they should keep going. This is why she stopped Supplicants trying to keep a single Game going forever in the past AND why Fulwish trying to stop the Games altogether broke the rules.

She considered this a punishment but I think Aha’s main goal was keeping Oroboros in check. After all, who better for an overseer than an Elation Pathstrider who can’t die (and is immune to mara)? However, Oroboros disappeared during the Swarm Disaster and Yaoshi ascended after it. Maybe Aha found part of Oroboros long after THEIR fall and planted Evanescia to stop THEM returning.

Vonwacq’s Demons grew by eating friend and foe alike, while Ashveil’s story in Moonlit Tales is about a ritual to appease the soul of a giant wolf, where people hunted each other in its stead. Maybe all of Aha's Games are to stop lifeforms being “possessed” by Oroboros?

Back to Eva: it took years of observing people for her to regain a human form, which mirrors HI3’s Rin going from human to fox monster and back again. She kept the fox ears as a side effect (as did HI3’s Sakuras and Theresa): maybe that’s how Evanescia got her ears. Evanescia doesn’t have relatives we know of, but you could consider her original self an older sister.

Also it turns out the fox mask was hers, but if you check the Courtyard after 4.2 it’s fallen from its podium, likely because she was disqualified for breaking the rules. (Though she should still have the real mask if she needs it - remember, the podiums just represent Supplicants.)

Her "original self" says she was awoken twice by the Nameless. I think the first time was by Isee as explained in my 4.0 theory (tl;dr: his involvement was teased beforehand and back then it sounded like her job was to guide future Nameless). Hopefully Eva freed from the tree at year’s end instead of pulling a Cyrene.

The new Fox Chapter 7 is about Asat’s first attack on Planarcadia from her perspective, ending with Graphia about to make the World in Canvas. I’ll make an update if Evanescia’s story and voice lines tell us anything of note in next week. I’d like to know more about the Emanators she oversaw, for example.

Some food for thought. Evanescia the Abundance Emanator became an Ambrosial Arbor. Shuhu the Abundance Emanator is a tree. Was Shuhu an Arbor too (or in the process of becoming one) and if so, were all Arbors originally people? Thank Venpasa for the nightmares and a lot of the ideas before this point, though Eva seemed fine with it.

Asat Pramad

If he attacked Ahatopia in Graphia’s time it disproves my Written in Water theory as the attack described there was by Celenova. Multiple Lord Ravagers could have taken part though. For example, Luxbane could have been there for Oroboros.

He seems to warp reality to an extent. Evanescia blames him for her being a Supplicant and he’s not only aware of Elio’s scripts, but implies he’s able to rewrite them. This must be an extension of Elation’s fourth wall power – he references Jigsaw and Ledger’s Joker when he meets Silver Wolf and says her ability to make callbacks is why he can beat her. Maybe he’s aware of text logs. Blade’s blank script already foreshadowed Elation can interfere with Finality, which was compounded by all the pre-release materials we got on Silver Wolf Lv. 999. Asat could be a good counter to Elio’s powers, though Elio reacts by measuring everything else precisely instead.

Asat was behind both Fulwish and the original Herald of Death. He brought Shuhu’s flesh to Planarcadia, swapping it out for bio weapons meant to have come in and disrupt the planet. As a tactician, he’ll be like Lygus: making others the brawns for his brain. His title, Demon Lord from Beyond, is DU’s new Destruction Boundary Equation, which says all eight Supplicants during his attack fought him. The name comes from people seeing the Antimatter Legion as demons.

I said he was a Fool called Absenti, but I’d like to suggest he’s Zero now. I was either wrong before or they’re all masks of the same person. We know Punklorde tech was used on Planarcadia and now know Zero was male. Wouldn’t it be cool for Silver Wolf’s idol to be the main villain? Asat means “nothingness”, which fits “Zero” and “Absenti”. Evanescia implies Aha personally slighted Asat, but Absenti’s past might be motivation enough.

Last Asat facts: I thought he couldn’t laugh but he tells dad jokes and comments on Furbobo articles. And you know the Herta Super Boss from Wispae War Saga? She represents Asat.

Graphia & Blade

Graphia’s still alive! She either didn’t get the Weathering Curse, throwing what we know of it into question, or the World in Canvas stalls it like Ashveil’s hibernation. Given her importance, if she’s playable she’ll likely be the next Cyrene. “Murata” was the tower she climbed, which sank into the World in Canvas. The story might be allegorical though. I mentioned its similarity to Aha’s origin before and a readable suggests it was a rift (like Aha’s “first laugh” in the Tavern).

We may have already met her. Kuchiba knows Planarcadia’s deepest secret. Both she and Nihilux are important enough to be in DU’s Moonlit Tales. Either is a candidate since there’s no need for her to resemble Himeko. Her red hair may be from Ryusuke.

I think 4.2’s abrupt end is because Trailblazer will seek her in the Land of Sneering Gods, which is where Yao Guang thinks Blade can be permanently killed given Ashveil’s reaction to her saying she’d found a good place to do it (including a close-up of his arm). Something will happen during the execution, resulting in Mortenax Blade.

Kuchiba

Being suspicious doesn’t make her a villain; she could just be one of the many we’ve seen who hate the IPC. We know she hates modernisation and others take it further: asking to be put back in the Canvas. Her DU version isn’t a Supplicant, but Pearl sounds so confident asking if she’s the ninth implies extras have come before.

The glitching screen has eyes resembling Ena, so Kuchiba may represent Order instead of Voracity. Thanks to Lumitris for this connection.

Emanators and Aeons

It’s 4.2 and we already have many Emanators! Asat, Silver Wolf, Yao Guang, Evanescia and Pearl borrowing Diamond’s power. Beatriz is another, then the five Emanators Trailblazer thinks of at the end. Oroboros’ body is in the basement and Aha might show up, so that’s two Aeons.

The Dark Zones are Enigmata constructs. They’re important to Punklorde’s history and have been used here, so I think this Path will be appear. There’s a new readable crediting Mythus for faster-than-light communication, describing THEIR Aether – the material Silver Wolf uses – with similar terminology to HI3’s Honkai energy, which alone makes it important.

Other Characters

  • Fulwish’s past is made worse by a readable clarifying her flashback. Her entire life was set up Truman Show-style to tell a story of someone recovering from trauma, which is why she snapped so hard. The cruel letter inviting her to the Tavern was likely Asat riling her up, though the Mask itself may have been a legitimate invitation for someone who’d suffered. As Sparxie says, you need to suffer to appreciate Elation.
    • Her brainwashing Seafeld reminded me of P5S’ Jails, matching Sunday’s scheme in Penacony aping P5R. Trailblazer and co. disappearing because people stopped caring about them mimics the endgame of og!P5.
  • Sunday learned to embrace imperfections, saying people are allowed to be stupid. He opposes someone trying to make a “perfect world” as he did. He’s growing! I think the odds of him learning enough to leave the Express are a lot higher now.
  • A letter says Ashveil stole Isee’s relic. This is slander but the relic might be how he got his power.
  • Himeko was very frail during the Bloodstained Games, so how did she fight the Herald? Did she outsmart him or is this more evidence that she made an imagenesis clone of herself? If so, no one questioning this implies she used her prize to modify everyone’s memories, as other winners have.
    • Himeko working at Graphia fits what she said in 4.0 about working at her dad’s school, but the way she told March implied it was another school since they were in Graphia at the time. However, this could be a simple error.
  • Trailblazer consciously uses their Stellaron for the first time, though the presence of Calyxes and the like means a Stellaron was on Planarcadia at some point. Elation is also their first Path without a matching Aeon glance, though they meet “Aha’s representative” in Evanescia Alter instead.
  • Sparkle knew about Amphoreus in 2.1, helped in 3.7 and knew about the kitten in 4.0, but Sparxie says she didn’t get a second script, so how does she know so much? Can Elation give her information as it seems to Asat?
  • Elio recruited Silver Wolf by manifesting her future self. This may be another Finality power. How often has he done this?
  • Evanescia’s golden eyes are cool but don’t justify changing the Elwood to a gingko tree, especially since her HI3 counterpart had golden eyes and sakura ties. But her animations have pink petals, so there’s hope!

See you tomorrow, internet!
