10 years with Fido, but the latest 12% price increase crossed a line

$5 doesn't sound like much, but it's 12% of my monthly bill. Called to dispute, couldn't get past the AI bot which scheduled a call back in three days from now. I immediately proceeded to fill out the escalation form and got a no-reply email saying that as a gesture of goodwill, they removed $15 from my current bill, but the $5 charge is here to stay.

I'm thinking of switching to Freedom, as it seems like the best of the bad alternatives we, Canadians, are stuck with. I know Freedom has been recommended a lot here, but if anybody switched and regretted, I'd appreciate you sharing your experience.

Dealing with taxes in Canada is too complicated for both taxpayers and CRA

The system is so complex that it's a huge headache for everybody involved. There are plenty of countries that efficiently and seamlessly manage their taxation. The population of Canada is small enough for implementing a simple streamlined solution.

Just an observation.

Staying in Saint-Ouen for a few nights

I've just booked an Airbnb near the Pablo Neruda sports complex (West side of it). It's 15 mins walk from the metro line 14 station Mairie de Saint-Ouen and 20 min walk from Saint-Denis Pleyed station.

I've done some research and Saint-Ouen is often described as pretty rough, but it's gentrifying quickly. I booked in this location for convenience, because it's so close to the high-speed metro and direct express bus to/from CDG.

As a female, should I worry about safety? Including late at night? (my flight lands at 11pm)

Just to clarify, I'll only stay there for 3 nights and I have no plans to explorer the neighbourhood; I'll be only going to/from the metro station to get to/from central Paris.

Lately the bulk of posts in this subreddit is about FB deleting, suspending, and disabling accounts

So many people started posting about this, it's unbelievable. Sounds like facebook is ready to go to a special place in hell reserved for bad software run by defective AI.

Is Kijiji completely dead?

I'm in Ottawa. Have been using Kijiji for 15 years and it was great until they flooded it with commercial ads. The buyers got fed up and moved to Facebook Marketplace, I assume most sellers followed. Now nobody is even asking "Is this still available?"

I really liked Kijiji because it didn't have the social media aspect to it, transactions were local, in person, cash on pickup, and anonymous. I also liked that Kijiji didn't require any sensitive personal info from users, didn't care if you were selling designers, or logging in from a different city, etc, basically things that the Meta AI bans accounts for.

I miss Kijiji and hope Ebay cleans up their act with regards to it, so there'll be a good alternative to the terrible FBM.

EDIT: spelling

FBM Access Suspended Because of Trademark Violation

I know it's been discussed many times, but the workaround through Groups doesn't seem to work anymore. So what do people do now to get their accounts un-suspended?

Background: I posted authentic Burberry perfume, got "Account Suspended" right away, clicked "Request Review" which was rejected withing 30 seconds by AI.

FBM Rules Violation Labels on Random Listings

I know that there are issues with mentioning some brands and designers, but today I got two new listings rejected for violation of intellectual property or something like this on completely random clothing items. One was a pair of pants from Aritzia, and another one is a top by a little-known brand. I'm not sure how to post anymore. Has anybody else experienced this today?

New Air Canada CADR claim resolution system -- progress update

This is an update to my post from a couple months ago, when I got an email from AC offering to transfer my 1.5-year-old compensation claim from CTA to the new Canada Aviation Dispute Resolution (CADR) program. I agreed, the claim got transferred, so here's what happened next, in case anybody else is in the same situation:

CADR is accessed through a web portal and even though the case was supposed to have been transferred from CTA, the passenger has to submit all the documentation again. Judging from the automated update messages on the CADR portal, Air Canada tried to object to CADR accepting the claim, which was overruled. About a month later AC provided defence, then agreed to pay the amount of compensation required by law, to which I immediately agreed. So far so good, right?

Right after the settlement was accepted, the CADR message box showed this message: "You have accepted the settlement offer made by the Airline. We now need you to submit your bank details in order for the Airline to make the payment due. This information needs to be added to the 'Bank Details' tab and submitted within seven days to move the claim back to the Airline for payment to be made." The only problem is that there's no 'Bank Details' tab.

The portal's message box is unmonitored, which makes it impossible to let them know about the issue. There's, however, a Support link that allows the passenger to create a support ticket which then goes to a weird third-party portal registered in Dubai. The passenger gets an auto-response from Support to login to the support portal to check the progress, but the passenger can't login because they don't have the password. When they click "Forgot Password", they get an email with a link to reset the password, but this link opens an error page saying "Invalid or Expired Link". No matter how many support tickets the frustrated passenger creates or how many times they try to reset passwords, the result is exactly the same -- no access to the support ticket updates, no means to communicate with any human, and no 'Bank Details' tab on the CADR portal.

Conclusion: with CTA claims get stuck in an endless queue without anybody looking at them, whereas with CADR claims get stuck after the parties agreed to a settlement because the processing software is g@rbage.
