I went into my vasectomy appointment at around 2pm on Friday afternoon, sat in the waiting area for about an hour until my name got called up by the nurse. I was escorted to a pre/post-op room where guys and girls were awaiting all types of surgeries for their private areas.

Eventually she snipped the tube which I felt immediately and it hurt for a quick second but the doctor gave me more lidocaine and I was back to “normal.” She stitched me up then rinse and repeat for my left testicle. It wasn’t as bad and I didn’t feel the snip either for whatever reason. The whole thing was about 20minutes, including the prepping.

I was escorted back to the post-op room and I felt very light headed once I tried to get up to change and go home. I drank some water and was escorted back to my car. I noticed my balls weren’t even hurting on my way home but I was sure it was because the lidocaine was still active. I got home and fast forward the whole day (laundry, video games and eat) and I was under no pain, my balls did have a small burning sensation but the ice cold gel pack helped tremendously.

On day 2, I spent my entire day home still icing my balls, but no pain still. The burning sensation was still there but it was half the strength from the day before.

Day 3, I was pretty much back to normal. No pain, no burning, but I wasn’t going to be dumb and test my luck on what does and doesn’t rip open my sutures or activate my pain. I went back to work and I did feel some uncomfortableness after 4 hours but it quickly went away on its own but that’s mostly due to not having worn a jock strap or anything. I never bought one I was just using my regular boxers. It’s a good thing my balls don’t hang when flaccid. Mine are tight and close to my body when flaccid then hang when I’m erect so I simply tried to avoid things that would give me a boner while standing up. I masturbated at the end of the night just to test the waters and everything was normal. No pain, no weird sensation when ejaculating, no blood or difference in semen color, no loss of sexual desire, nothing.

Day 4, no pain or uncomfortableness at all today. Went to work and nothing, I’m just careful on picking up stuff and stretching my legs simply due to the fear of opening my sutures. I was out with a friend today and around 5pm I started feeling sick (body aches) and losing energy relatively quickly. My questions are: is it suppose to stay that high until I start feeling better and it’ll eventually go down?

It only notified me once that it went over 120 bpm but it hasn’t dropped under 120 since. I just took some DayQuil so maybe that’ll bring it down.

When should I be worried and head to the ER? After multiple readings of high heart rate?
