We can complain about a lot of things but grew up during a great time for movies.
Lucas and Spielberg at their peak. Plus we got John Hughes, Ridley Scott, John Carpenter, the list goes on - so many great movies every year.
Extended arm side planks have gotten real hard to hold with arm
I can do them with my forearm down just as I always have but my extended arms (both) just can't hack it. My fitness hasn't changed and I still have the strength in my arms to do pull ups and throw a ball at a distance I could before. But this exercise I may have to just jettison because I can't stay up there. I know it's kind of an advanced move but it wasn't on the struggle list before and now it very much is. I am deep in my late 50s so maybe this is it - any advice?
About A Place In The Kinki Region (2025)
Has anyone seen this yet? It looks really interesting in a mockumentary style similar to Nori. I think it was released in Japan last fall. If you know where it is streaming please let me know.
Is the Bridge Curse on Netflix a good movie for the plane?
reddit.comAre their found footage movies that are really popular but you don't like?
I don't like Creep. Duplass is just too much. He was funny when he went running ahead on that trail but it turned after that. Just didn't like the movie even though it was a big hit. I didn't watch the sequel or series. But have watched I Blame Society (2020) many times.
Didn't like Spree (2020) again the bad guy was too much. My daughter liked it. Maybe it's a Gen Z film. I liked Dashcam (2021).
Don't like Lake Mongo - idk this just didn't hit for me. Tried to watch it multiple times. I like other documentary styles a lot so idk.
Gonjiahm Haunted Asylum and Grave Encounters - idk why I didn't like these films. Tried Gonjiahm several times. I liked Hell House and other exploration films like Raw_File (2025). I even liked Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital (2024) which is objectively worse.

unep.orgSometimes you sleep on a film because of the title. Two movies in point. Pumpkinhead and Uncle Peckerhead. This sub has done a lot to bring attention to Ole Pumpkin but the later film needs some love.
It's not uncommon to see a question in this sub what is a good punk rock horror? People will rightly recommend Green Room (2015) and a few others. Uncle Peckerhead (2020) is under the radar. And it's not as good as Green Room mainly for the production and execution but it does some of the neat things Green Room does. We follow the band. The music in this is good especially the featured made up band - Duh rocks. We have a lot of good scenes with shitty venues and a band struggling on the road like Green Room. We meet some cool punks and asshole punks.

But what Uncle Peckerhead has going for it is Peckerhead himself. David Littleton creates a very compelling antagonist. initially instilling complexity and likability into the man who is at times a monster. He sucks the band into his horror with his affable nature and genuine goodness (except for 13 minutes at midnight). And convinces us that Peckerhead is not just the monster of his deeds but has a heart of gold. As the movie goes on we realize that his lovable monster might actually be what we all thought he was.

I definitely wanted to see more of Littleton and Duh and watched this movie to the end. Regretted having not watched it before because of the kind of dumb name. Just like it took me years to watch Pumpkinhead because it sounded dumb. Both movies let you know that looks can be deceiving and then sometimes they aren't.
After a day of wearing my Charge 2 my wrist gets funky. It actually reeks. Especially on the connection spot which it gets all red. Even after healthy scrubbing with soap and hot water it's ...still kinda gross.
I don't remember it being this nasty when the device was new maybe it always was. And the red mark only goes away if I quit using it for a while(IDR that either). I have had the thing for 5+ years but honestly I don't know how I put up with it because it's kinda gross to have wrist stink and a gnarly red mark (of fitness). Does anyone else have a similar experience and how do you cope?
Super easy black bean breakfast
Olive oil. Black beans, green chilies, and diced tomatoes (1 can each). Onion powder, oregano, salt and pepper.

Heat oil in a pan at medium high. Add well drained beans for one minute. Add chillies and saute 2-3 more minutes. Add tomatoes. Simmer 5-10 min. While it's simmering add spices to taste.

I served it with Trader Joes plantains from the air fryer. The bacon is just not right for the med diet but I was cooking it for the kids did +70k steps this week.
In Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf the nurse runs through the city and jumps in the water to escape Whalewolf. That's it - I don't have a snappy joke about what the film makers were trying to convey. It makes no sense. A nurse would know that Whalewolf can swim better.
Widows Bay gets pretty funny on slasher tropes
The Apple TV show covers a number of horror subgenres (Lovecraft, witches, haunted houses, curses, teens, etc...) in a comical and encompassing plotline. There is also a slasher that harasses the island. The most recent episode gets into that story and is pretty hilarious imo. I don't want to spoil the jokes but I'm wondering what anyone who has seen it thinks. The show is much more subtle than the Scary Movie approach and is pretty well done keep the time and continuity with rotating directors.
OK Google - I didn't swim. I don't even have a pool.
I was on a Peloton bike. You even have the data because my devices are synced. I wish I was swimming so maybe Google Health was tracking my inner thoughts.
You should watch Widow’s Bay
Normally I don’t make posts like this, but you should really check out Widow’s Bay. It’s not getting enough attention and I genuinely don’t want to see it get cancelled.
The spoiler-free premise is that Matthew Rhys plays the mayor of a tiny island town filled with myths, urban legends, and strange local stories, while trying to turn the place into a tourist attraction.
It’s a horror comedy, which might turn some people off because it often isn’t scary at all, but I’m glad I went in open-minded because it is hilarious and it does have creepy moments. I’m also a huge fan of Matthew Rhys, so maybe I’m biased, but he’s fantastic in this.
Minor thematic spoilers ahead, not plot spoilers.
>!The show uses that old-school procedural “mystery/monster of the week” structure while slowly connecting everything into a larger story underneath. It gave me a weird nostalgia for things like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? For more modern comparisons, it reminded me a bit of Midnight Mass because of the isolated island setting, though this is obviously much lighter in tone. It also reminded me of Evil with the procedural supernatural cases and the occasional genuinely unsettling moments. The pilot mostly sets up the premise, but things really start moving from episode 2 onward. I’m also just a sucker for small towns, urban legends, and mythical monsters.!<
Let me know what you think if you end up watching it.
