My Cork Bottomed Basket Trio
These are my go-to's when I'm bringing food over to families for special dinners and holidays. I also have the round and 9x13 in brown, but I like to keep a consistent color when I'm serving.

As a kid we were always trading in our games to be able to get new ones. It feels good to be able to build this kind of collection as an adult.
I found these five mixing bowls being sold together for $2 at a garage sale today. They're by no means perfect but in pretty darn good shape, and I'm feeling like I made out like a bandit. I've never heard of Pyrex putting a gold rim on their mixing bowls, so that must have been added as a personal touch. I also found an immaculate Libby crazy daisy pattern casserole, and whatever pattern Corning this is both with lids for a few bucks each. Great day!
I went to an estate auction last weekend and found this kind of hidden in one of the boxes during the viewing period. I left it that way hoping no one else would notice 😬🤞
When they finally got to that box two and a half hours later, it was put up with 10 other boxes and auctioned grab on style. Basically he sets the starting price and goes down in $5 increments until someone bids. That person gets their first choice of the boxes up there, then he continues on at that price until everything is gone. He started at $25 and I was not taking any chances lol. The rest of the box was mostly junk, but there was a beautiful anchor hocking butter dish, amber benko pitcher and some amber votive holders.
I also got a 2 quart Corning Vision casserole to go with the roaster I found last week as part of a different lot.🙌
I spent some time talking to the owner who was such a sweet lady. Her husband had just passed, she was moving to Florida and had to massively downsize. You can tell all this stuff meant so much to her, and it broke her heart that she couldn't fit it all in her new space. I found out that she owns property she's keeping in my nearby hometown so we exchanged numbers. I went into the sale hoping to find treasures and found more than I could ever have bargained for ♥️
EDIT: Thanks, you guys made me feel better about leaving them.
Early American Print and Old Orchard.
She wanted $10 for each, but they are near perfect so I had to scoop them up. Felt good after leaving the last sale disappointed to find the set of 3 primary color Pyrex mixing bowls were in absolutely dismal condition. I spotted them in the photo advertising the sale and showed up right at open to make sure I could get first dibs. Unfortunately they looked much better from 10 ft. One had a big chip on the rim and the paint was in bad shape on every one. She also wanted $20. Part of me is kicking myself because she had an extra of the chipped bowl separately for $5. It was equally as rough but not chipped. Would you guys have bought all 4 for $25?
I saw this Pyrex vision casserole at the thrift last weekend for $10 and passed on it because of the price. As I was driving away I was immediately hit with remorse and WTF was I thinking. I almost turned around but I decided that I'd come back the following week, and if it was still there I'd get it. It was still there by the grace of the PYREX gods🙌
I've been building this set for over a decade. I haven't found anything in the past few years, but I hope to complete it one day.
Usually the DVDs at the thrift are mid and overpriced, but I always take a look because ya never know. Needless to say that this one caught my eye🤣
Decided to check comps because it's niche, and wouldn't you know it recently sold for $20. I had also just found a pile of nearly pristine 70's Harlequin romance novels so I was dreading going to check out lmao. But I've endured much more awkward situations for less money, so I carried on. Pretty sure the cashiers about died laughing after I walked out😂
I got an order today for a bundle of six items. Three posters I've had sitting for literally years, and a couple new in box collectible figurines. Should be a dream order right? Except that the last item in the bundle is a 5 lb essential oil diffuser
I think there's little to no chance that the diffuser won't damage something and shipment no matter how well I pack it. I hate to have to cancel and potentially lose the sale, but it won't do me much good if it all arrives damaged because of mercari's notoriously useless "seller protection."
Just curious how you guys would handle this?
Picks these up at a garage sale today for $10 🥹
I've been selling my extra trading card singles and shipping them with first class envelopes for a few years now. They only sell for $2-$4, so it's really the only viable way to ship them. And all that time I've never had an issue until the past couple weeks. Four out of my last six orders have had issues. Two of them showed as delivered, but the buyers claimed they didn't show up. The other two have not had a single scan since I shipped them a week and a half ago. The tracking is limited to regional facility scans, so it isn't unusual for the tracking to be sparse or for something to show up a day or two after it's marked delivered. But there should have been something by now. Other cards I sent after that have been delivered. EDIT: I should also note that the two envelopes that have never been scanned were dropped the same day.
Unfortunately mercari's policy is to wait 30 days from when it was marked as delivered until we can make a claim. When it happened the first time we waited a few days. When it still didn't show up, I figured the person was just a scammer (I had other info to back it up, it's a whole other story. Put it at the end because this is already bordering on TLDR).
Rather than risk my perfect rating making them wait, I just canceled the transaction and refunded them. After all, it was just a $3 item. But now I have three others in my queue, one which was the bundle of several cards. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this recently? It's not a huge loss considering I spent a dollar or less on all of these, but I sell a lot of other things too and can't have my rating compromised by what amounts to pocket change.
Okay now time for the TLDR lol. No need to read past here unless you just want the T. So the first person who had the issue had also messaged me on FB about my cards. I belong to some groups there where I traded and bought cards when I was completing my own collection. I'm now just selling what I have left over from that. The community really hates scalpers because covid drove up the resale price of these cards. I have seen people be targeted and harassed when people found their mercari or eBay, so when I posted my cards there and saw that same person bought from me on Mercari I suspected that might be happening to me. But multiple envelopes never being scanned at a regional facility directly following that means it probably isn't the case.
No excuse me while I go be extra and eat my veggie sushi off this 🤗
Edit: Go ahead and pile on the down votes, I don't care. People need to know what a scummy company TRR is, and hopefully this will serve as a warning to someone thinking about consigning something. If you are really down voting someone who's calling out a company for paying $20 commission on a $400 pair of shoes that are literally brand new in the box, your opinion is irrelevant to me.
I had three pairs of high-end shoes that I thought would be difficult to sell on my own, so I decided to try the real real. The commission structures didn't look bad honestly. With the value of the items ranging from $400-$1300 I figured I'd still make out okay. Wow was I wrong.
Brand new pair of sneakers complete with the box and dust bags. Guess what my commission would have been if it sold for the initial listing price. 20 freaking dollars. Yes, you read that right. 20. Like if I wanted to sell them to make $20, I could have done so on any random street corner. The pair of suede loafers looked like that might do okay, that is until they slashed the price when it didn't immediately sell. The only thing that did okay was the high value leather boots. My commission was going to be 500, but now the buyer has asked for a return. They did sell immediately, so I'm sure they will again but I guarantee the price will be reduced.
So I decided to bite the bullet and pay them to send me the sneakers and loafers back for more than I would have even got in commission. Put them up on eBay for more than the real real was going to sell them for, and they already have watchers. Still debating on the boots while I wait for them to receive the buyers return. This is a pretty finely tuned racket they have going.
You guys seem to like the Cinderella casserole I saved from the evil (lol) MIL, so I thought I'd post today's haul.
I couldn't believe my luck today. Two unique replacement lids I don't have for literally cents, and the two-quart casserole I bought fits one of them. Not to mention the pattern mixing bowl and milk glass compartment dish, I literally gasped 😂
All in amazing condition and for such good prices!
There's been such a drought of good condition vintage Pyrex at my local thrift stores lately to the point that I stopped going for a while. I think I just need to check early and more often!
From what I can find, this 10 inch 1 1/2 qt Cinderella casserole was given away by Sears or some other department store as a promo item sometime in the 1960s. The stamp is 474-B (it was impossible to get a good picture).
My partner's parents bought a hunting cabin that they have since converted into a year round residence. It was fully furnished and this was in the cupboard. I just thank the Pyrex gods that I was there the day she decided to clean them out because you know I already had my eye on it. She apparently thought it was trash, wasn't even going to take it to a thrift store. I also got a set of milk glass Hamilton Beach mixing bowls.
I got the recipe from a recent post by u/revbuns, who was kind enough to share. Linking the post below, you can find it there ☺️

I followed the recipe to the letter, and they turned out perfectly. I love this recipe because it makes a sinfully delicious cookie that looks like it came from a bakery, but is very easy to make.
It's worth noting that the cookie dough will initially be very wet, sticky and warm from the melted butter. I stuck mine in the fridge for about 5 minutes, just until it was no longer warm, then five more on the counter. After that it set and was much easier to handle.
Finally, it helps to freeze the Hershey pieces that go on top so they hold their shape better. Enjoy!!
