School District will not give me my TIA funds

Got rated proficient/accomplished, students in my class crushed STAAR, and now my district is refusing to give me my TIA money because I’m resigning. Is that fair? Is that normal across districts? Why hold onto money that I deserve.

Does it look bad if you have switched schools 3x in last 3 years? Legit/good reasons.

I have been teaching for 13 years, all with effective ratings. I spent eight years at one school, and after COVID I decided to go on the open market to try something new. I worked at a school doing inclusion, but it was a horrible experience—the administration hated me, offered no support, the staff was unkind, and students were rarely held accountable even when they were extremely disrespectful. I decided to leave that school and moved to another one.

I had a pretty good year there, but on the last day of summer school—coincidentally the same day the open market was closing—they asked me to switch sites, which would have made my commute very difficult. So I decided to go back on the open market and look for a school closer to home, and I got lucky. I had a good year at that school as well, but ultimately I left and moved to another state for personal reasons and to pursue a relationship.

I’m not sure if I want to return to NYC. I’m currently in the New Teacher Finder, but I’m worried that these school changes look bad. I do want to settle down at a school and stay long-term, and I am committed to doing so.

In House Vacancy vs Outside canidiate

Do in‑house or already‑in‑district employees get priority over outside candidates when districts hire?

I’ve applied to several teaching positions in SoCal (I’m currently out of state but recently earned my CA credential), and it feels like every job is going to people who already work in the district.

Is there still a realistic chance for someone like me to get hired? My cert is in a high needs area and I have 4 years of teaching experience in Arizona.

⚠️ PSA for anyone living in Greystar‑managed apartments in Austin: the towing situation is getting predatory

⚠️ PSA for anyone living in Greystar‑managed apartments in Austin: the towing situation is getting predatory

Just a warning to anyone under Greystar management right now: their towing contractors are out here taking people’s cars even when they’re legally parked in paid, assigned spots — and the communication is nonexistent.

In my case, the towing company never notified me at all. Zero calls. Zero texts. Zero warnings. The only “communication” I ever got were two random emails buried in my inbox approving me of my permit. Meanwhile, the towing company did notify the property about “missing paperwork”… but the property never bothered to notify me. Not a single message.

So the towing company knows.
The apartment complex knows.
The only person left in the dark is the tenant whose car they’re about to tow.

And then they show up in the middle of the night and take your car like you’re some kind of parking violator, even though you’re parked exactly where you’re supposed to be.

If you’re in a Greystar property, protect yourself:

  • Keep screenshots of your registration and parking approval
  • Save every email from the leasing office
  • Document your assigned spot
  • Know how to request a towing hearing
  • Review your rights under Texas towing laws

This isn’t a one‑off mistake — it’s happening all over Austin which is why the court (the clerk told me this) they are expediting towing cases.

Who really believes a skinny anorexic man like birkan is in love with an obese 50 year old women? the pics of her back in turkey were also fake, they were from her tlc sponsored trip the first time! and her ring is also fake. i mean these couples are doing good by keeping a story line, i get it, but it's so implausible. but i guess tlc has to do this to keep people tuning in bc the last few seasons sucked until this one. the audience wants a freak show.

also laura always chiming in like she's the queen of the set was annoying.

You would think with the amount of money TLC makes off these shows they could provide styling and clothes for these cast members. Instead we have literal suits and dresses from prom in the 80s. Are the cast members being forced to bring their own clothes and do their own hair and make up? Why is TLC so friggin cheap
