There are plenty of clubs that could compete with Lyon if they wanted to, they just don't care about women's football.

The narrative on this sub is that Kang, with her 4-billion-dollar fortune, can single-handedly outspend every club and that they can't compete. First, she doesn't have 4 billion in liquid assets; second, that's not the amount she's spending; third, there are much richer club owners than her. There are plenty of clubs that could compete with Lyon if they wanted to, they just don't care about women's football.

In Ligue 1:

  • Rennes is owned by the Pinault family. François Pinault is worth 27 billion. And yet, the Rennes female section isn't even playing in D1, they are playing at a district level. The senior female section was only created in 2023.
  • Paris FC is owned by the Arnault family and Red Bull. Bernard Arnault is worth 151 billion dollars. The female section is decent, but they don't invest enough to compete consistently at a higher level.
  • Strasbourg is now owned by BlueCo. Their female section is a mid-ranked team in D1.
  • PSG has Qatari money, yet their female section is getting shittier every year. They used to rival Lyon a bit, but now they struggle to rank third in D1.
  • Nice is owned by Ineos (the ninth largest chemical company in the world). Their female section is struggling in D2, and Nice wants to get rid of them. The female section may disappear next year, because nobody has offered to buy it.
  • Monaco is owned by Dmitry Rybolovlev, he's worth 6,7 billions dollar. The female section is playing at a district level.
  • Marseille is owned by Frank McCourt. He's worth 1,5 billion dollar. The club had a budget of 260 million euros for the 2025-2026 season. Yet the female section is ranked 9 out 12 in D1.
  • Lille had a budget of 110 million. The female section has been playing in D2 since 2024.

Premier League clubs are rich. As you can see, most of the owners are richer than Kang.

Every year, each Premier League club receives a minimum of 110 million pounds in TV rights. Don't they have a few bucks to spare for a more competitive female section? Note that the female section is exempt from the PSR rules, contrary to La Liga.

Lots of clubs in the Championship are also owned by billionaires or multi-millionaires. There are Championship clubs that spend more money than some Ligue 1 and La Liga clubs.

Real and Barca are both worth over 1 billion (the two richest clubs in the world).

Inter Milan ranks 11th, Borussia 12th, Juventus 13th, Atletico 14th, AC Milan 15th, Porto 16 th, Atalanta 18th, Napoli 19th, etc. Why aren't these clubs' female sections more competitive in Europe? They have the money for it.

All that to say, it's not a lack of money; they just don't care about women's football.

(Question football) Est-ce qu'on a deux mots en français pour faire la distinction comme en anglais entre forward et striker ?

Ou est-ce qu'on est obligé de dire attaquant de pointe à chaque fois.

I wish they did more with Taissa’s state senator storyline

In season 1, that potential donor woman interrogated her about the wilderness at the charity dinner, Simone asked her to drop out, and Taissa refused even though it was affecting her marriage. She was willing to risk her relationship for this election. She even hired a private investigator to check if the other survivors would start talking. So, it was very important to her.

Then in season 3, they just drop in a throwaway line that she’s “the first state senator to impeach herself before taking office.” After all that setup, they don’t really do anything with it.

I think dealing with everything that’s happening while she’s a state senator would’ve created way more tension and higher stakes for the adult timeline. Maybe a journalist or a political opponent would try to dig into her past to blackmail her. Blackmail has more stakes if someone has political/institutional importance and semi-public visibility.

(English isn't my native language, I apologize if any sentence is a bit off.)
