Worst Move You've Ever Made?

We've all done it. We've all made that one add/drop, that one draft pick, that one trade, that had everyone else asking, "Why'd we let them in the league again?"

What's the most boneheaded move you've made in your fantasy baseball career?

I'll go first — I dumped PCA on April 12th. We all read the same off-season predictions that he was going to be a bust. I reluctantly drafted him in the 8th round because I needed another OF and there were already slim pickings. From the beginning, it was in my head that I never wanted him in the first place.

In our league, players have preset prices, and we have a $240 cap. The guy who drafted James Wood had set his shit to auto-draft after a while, and the computer ended up going over the cap, so he had to dump a bunch of guys at the start, and Wood was one of'em. Wood got off to a fast start; PCA didn't, so I made the switch. It worked out for a good chunk of the year. Nobody even picked PCA up until June 8th. I was in first place most of the year. Hell, just three weeks ago even. The last three weeks have been the worst three weeks I've ever had, and now I'm in fourth, and the guy who picked up PCA is, of course, in first. Yay me!

So, who's got the worst move out of all of us?

How to Check Active Mods

So I downloaded the Odyssey Mod Collection (200+ mods) through Vortex, but have no clue if everything is working as it should.

There are two places I've noticed mods listed. Under 'Installed' and 'Creations'. If I look in 'Installed', only 6 show up, but if I look in 'Creations', I do see all of them and they're checked, but I only ever get notifications of mods 'launching' for the 6 that are in the 'Installed' section.

I used to think Elder Scrolls/Fallout Mods were a PITA, but this is way more annoying.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Stupid, Stupid Brain

I work from home, which isn't physically exhausting, but is incredibly mentally exhausting. At the end of the workday, there's a snowball's chance in hell that I'm gonna want to stand there and cook something for dinner. I used to live in an area that didn't have very many food delivery choices, but now that DoorDash is around, everything's available, and six months ago I fucked up and ordered a burger, fries, & PB Cup Blizzard from DQ. Now my stupid ass brain has decided it's all I can eat for the foreseeable future. 3+ times a week. Bought stuff to meal prep that's just sitting in the fridge; hell, I even bought a Ninja Creami so I could make healthy ice cream, but nope, DQ is my life now.

God I hate my brain!

That's Two Hours of my Life I Can't Have Back...

Do retention reps get dinged if they can't save a cancellation?

I had an account with internet & two mobile lines on it. I moved to a new apartment last December, and when I called to transfer service to the new address, I was told by the rep, who I now understand was a 'Sales' rep, that I would lose the promotions on the phones we had, which meant that at the time we would have had to pay hundreds of extra dollars, so, instead of transferring, they set me up with "new" service (enjoy the comission dink).

Fast forward to today, I call to cancel the old account and hopefully move the phones to the "new" account. After two hours, which consisted of one dropped call 30 minutes in and five other transfers, we finally got the phones moved to the correct account. During that time, I was told by three different retention reps (nobody could figure out how to get the phones transferred) that the old account was canceled, but when I asked for a confirmation number, nobody could give me one, and it looks like my old account is still active.

So, as I asked at the beginning...do retention reps take a numbers hit if they can't save a cancellation, 'cause it's the only reason why I can see that I had to be transferred around so many times 'cause nobody wanted to get stuck with it

Dropping/Placing Blocks/Stones

I walk up to drop a block on a pressure plate; it drops the block behind me. I turn around to drop it behind me; it drops it in front of me. I turn back to drop it in front of me; it drops to the side. The game's takin' the piss, yes?

And don't even get me started on the number of times I've tried to gently place down a stone and launched it off a cliff or smashed it to bits.

I'm 20 hours into the game and still have a long way to go. For the sake of my sanity, please tell me that I'm just missing a mechanic that lets me drop/place a block/stone where I actually intend for it to go!

Amazingly Simple Chocolate Creami

I've had this thing for less than a month, and I'm convinced I've stumbled across the easiest, most phenomenally tasty chocolate recipe there is — and it's only 200-300 calories & 13g-26g of protein to boot — depending on whether you go with milk or the protein shake.

Choose one or the other:

  • 1 1/2 - 2 Cups Fairlife 2% Chocolate Milk (140 Cal/Cup)(13g Protein/Cup)
  • 1 Fairlife Chocolate Protein Shake (14oz)(170/Cal)(26g Protein)

Now the rest:

  • 2 Tbsp Monkfruit Sweetener
  • 2 tsps Chocolate Jell-O No Sugar Instant Pudding (30ish Cal)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Twists of Salt (if you have a salt grinder, otherwise, a pinch)

That's it. That's the recipe. So unbelievably simple. So unbelievably tasty.

Spin that shit once on LIGHT ICE CREAM, pour in just a little bit more of your milk (I don't even scrape down the sides since I actually like a few leftover icy bits — but, to each their own), then give it a RE-SPIN.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Oops. Didn't quite follow the recipe guidelines.

Changing Direction SUCKS!

If I fall from a platform ONE MORE TIME, I'm going to lose my shit!

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely enjoying the game, but the number of times that I've fallen off of something trying to change direction is way more than it ever should be in a game that requires precise platforming!!

Costo + Strained Oblique = Worst...Summer...EVER!

This summer marks my THIRD year of dealing with off & on Costo flare-ups, and as if things weren't bad enough from just that, an Oblique strain decided to join the party. Tried to be nice and help my brother move a granite bird bath. I must've really pissed someone off! Gonna be such a fun summer!!

EL1 vs EL2

I love how unique EL1 was compared to others in the genre at the time. Unique factions, hero-led armies, quests, seasons (winter, summer, eclipse), upgradable armies, and another bangin' soundtrack (Amplitude does not miss with the soundtracks). Instead of just sitting around, waiting for shit to build in your city, you're always kept busy roaming the map doing something. Enough like Civ to feel familiar, and different enough to feel fresh.

Then we got Humankind. While I enjoyed it, Civ still did the historical 4x better (at the time).

When EL2 was announced, I was super excited they were going back to the Endless universe. I thought we were going to get a bigger, better version of the original. A collection of mostly the same, albeit tweaked, factions — with a few new ones sprinkled in. A return of the seasons with some updates, maybe a new one. Better heroes. Better armies. So far though, it's been a bit disappointing.

I know EL2 has a long way to go, so I'm hoping it'll get better and I'll grow into it, but there's just something about it that doesn't hit quite like the original. It could honestly be that it's just super early in EA, but sometimes I feel like companies try to be too original with new versions of games instead of trying to build on what people liked about the originals. I'm not really feeling the new factions, and while I guess it's kind of cool that the landscape of the world keeps changing, I don't like it nearly as much as I liked the seasons in EL1. I can see how they tried to expand the quests as the ones in EL1 didn't really have any direction to them, but I feel they tried too hard and did too much. I'm fine with the 'one-page' lore to go with the quests, just so long as it tells a good story. I know they've already cut down on those a lot, but I don't need to click through 3-4 pages to get to the end. It's just too much. I don't know that I like the different direction they've started to go with heroes and their skill trees. They could have just made them bigger with more options and I would have been fine.

Curious to know what others think.

After 140 hours, I have almost no desire to go exploring anymore because nothing I find is going to make a difference to what I already have. I get that the Abyss Gears are the basis for gear differential, but there's no reason for me to change the weapons & armor I've already enhanced other than for changing my look. I don't need drastic differences, but some item uniqueness would go a long way to making exploring so much more rewarding.

After starting in February, the beginning of May will be the FOURTH charge for my Fantasy sub, and they haven't even shipped ONE book yet. Not to mention I've been waiting months for Malazan 4-6 and one other from six months ago.

Lots of "unfulfilled" sitting in my account with more incoming. Don't wanna cancel, but would like to start seeing some movement.
