Why did Kylo Ren think he was any match for Luke after he saw Luke survive the AT-AT bombardment? And why was Poe worried about Luke facing Kylo "by himself"?

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A CRITICISM OF THE FILM. THIS IS JUST ABOUT THE CHARACTERS.

He watches Luke bombarded by a dozen AT-ATs at max power...and then sees Luke walk out without a scratch from the whole thing. Yes, Luke was a projection but Kylo didn't know that, and even if he had, a Luke who can project himself across the galaxy is going to be extremely powerful (Rian Johnson said it was one of the most impressive Force feats in the franchise, which Ren would have known too) and on top of that projection Luke could physically interact with the world as he did when he kissed Leia on the head so he could have killed Kylo if he wanted. Anyways back to what Ren did know - he sees Luke walking out of a bombardment of AT-ATs effortlessly unscathed. Surely he doesn't think he could do the same thing? So why does he even think of facing him rather than ordering his forces to flee from the guy more powerful than them all?

And Poe watches all of this and is still concerned about Luke facing Kylo Ren by himself. While his care is adorable I would also think he'd think that after Luke handled the entire First Order on his own, that Kylo wouldn't be that big a deal. So why was he still worried? Did he also think Kylo was more powerful than Luke?

Is it possible that Mace survived going out the Windu?

THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHO WON THE OFFICE FIGHT. PLEASE KEEP THOSE DISCUSSIONS ELSEWHERE. THIS IS ABOUT WHETHER MACE COULD HAVE SURVIVED BEING PUSHED OUT THE WINDOW.

Joke in the title, but we know Mace was the second best Master in the Jedi Order at the time, had "only" lost a hand and been blasted by, granted, intense amounts of lightning at close range, before being thrown out the window. But we also know that it was around a kilometer high fall in the middle of a very traffic dense evening.

Could Mace have slammed into, or perhaps been caught by, a speeder, and nursed back to health? Could he have regrouped and weakly guided himself to land on a building ledge and crawl to shelter? If so, what would explain Windu's lack of involvement during the time of the Empire?

Edit: Another thing worth considering is that despite taking so much lightning you see his skull as if x rayed and his face seemingly catatonic, Mace was still holding his ground on the ledge and only flew out once Palpatine added a gigantic Force push to the lightning...and you can hear Mace grunting when he gets thrown out the window too. Suggesting he is still alive at that moment perhaps?

What happens if Luke Skywalker and 30 Jedi Knights are dropped into Randland?

*The time they fall into is at the literal beginning, page 1 of "The Shadow Rising".

Let's say this is canon Luke after Return of the Jedi building up the New Jedi Order somewhere in his mid 30s. He's successfully trained 28 Jedi Knights and two Masters, and is more powerful than we saw at the end of Mandalorian. His Jedi's power and skill level range from your average prequel Jedi Knight to 2 Masters as skilled as Kit Fisto. Lightsabers work and the Force works everywhere, including steddings, and it cannot be negated by medallions. Jedi cannot be stilled/gentled from it. If you're sufficiently powerful then of course the One Power can defend or break through an attack/defense/technique and vice versa of the Force through the Power.

On a mission searching for Jedi artifacts, they jump to hyperspace and crash out the other end of the Portal stone right by Stedding Tsofu. No one dies. The Ogier carry them to safety and nurse them to health. While doing so, both groups exchange knowledge of their cultures and worlds. The Ogier are surprised that the Force works perfectly in their stedding and the kiddos think lightsabers are amazing. In this scenario, there are people in Randland who have the capacity to use the Force and become Jedi or Sith. And this little academy does decide to try to find and train them.

It isn't long before Tar Valon learns of this development.

What happens?

KOTOR 2: Can you get both Force forms and saber forms out of the Masters?

If you go to some with the base class and then some with the prestige class?

For example, say I start on Dantooine and I'm a Guardian but don't have a prestige class. I'm assuming Vrook will teach me a lightsaber form. Great. Now if after he does I choose to be a Jedi Master as my prestige class and complete Nar Shadda, will Zez-Kai Ell teach me a force form?

Cool characters like Russell Wong in Romeo Must Die but who are good guys?

Watched this movie again for what must be at least the hundredth time since it came out. I want to absolutely love Russell Wong's Kai because he is so undeniably cool, but he's also so evil that I feel like I need to wash my mouth out whenever I feel like liking him. And not evil in a cheesy way, but actually enjoys killing people in terrible ways. Uggh

I really love his older brother/young uncle supportive energy that he shows (when he's not trying to/killing) to Jet Li and his brother, as well as his general cool as hell swag though. Are there any characters in films you've seen with that type of energy who are GOOD GUYS?

Gracias in advance.

Korriban was awesome

One of my favorite parts of Star Wars remains the Legends depiction of Korriban, especially in KOTOR and some of the comics as a mysterious, cult-culture that revered the Dark Lords as god-kings but whose history was shrouded by the mystery of the dark side as well as sheer age. Walking through the Valley in KOTOR II and having Kreia narrate the bios of the "big 4" Dark Lords immersed me, and maybe I'm taking this too far, but served as a sort of warning to me about what a society can become when it becomes based around principles centered in self rather than service.

I think it's both very cool and very "Star Wars" that the secrets of the tombs can only be discovered by those able to be honest with themselves in relation to the dark side and strong enough to endure its tests - either by embracing it or overcoming it. Learning the tragic demise of Ajunta Pall and his spirit's pity-inducing, impotent desire for redemption would be a paradigm-shifting moment for anyone, especially Revan I would imagine. Above all it seems to me that Legends Korriban is about the dark side itself, and its mysterious and alluring nature which comes from subtly manipulating you into embracing your selfish nature and calling it freedom. Ultimately it seems like you're rebelling against arbitrary limitations of the Light to embrace yourself and your potential, but in reality are rejecting wisdom in favor of pride which leads to enslavement and Ajunta learned that the hard way. But at least he learned.

What do you think of Legends Korriban?

What makes a Sith Lord "worse" than another? Who would you say is "the worst"?

In KOTOR 2 when you successfully scatter Sith forces at the tomb of the ancient Sith Lord, Freedon Nadd on Dxun, you have a brief conversation with a Mandalorian scout who tells you that Nadd is worse than Revan or Malak ever was. Now as far as I know, Nadd never waged galactic war the way Revan and Malak did. He "only" enslaved the people of Onderon and preserved his spirit through Sith alchemy. I think he also played a role in Exar Kun's fall. Now you can argue that Revan wages war to save the Republic, which doesn't excuse his actions but at least is a half decent argument. Malak on the other hand waged galactic war purely for the sake of conquest and committed at least one planetary level genocide. I feel like this makes him worse than Nadd, despite Nadd being involved in darker arts.

What do you think? Do you think the ancient Sith, the Ragnoses, the Sadows were the worst? Was it old friends like Kun and Nadd from the Old Republic? Vitiate? Do you think it was Bane? Palps?

Will characters/dialogue acknowledge I have a lightsaber if I use the console at all in KOTOR II?

I've spawned it a bunch of times and crafted with Bao-Dur a couple after spawning one. Never had it acknowledged I have one other than him. Especially irritating when I met Mira and tell her I don't have a saber even though I do. Is this just an issue with my game or just since I'm have the console enabled/use it/use it to spawn items/to spawn a saber?

Thoughts appreciated. Gracias.

What type of character do you play in KOTOR II?

I've played KOTOR II since it came out, when I was a kiddo. At that age, I tried to roleplaye as a Luke Skywalker like Jedi hero but it felt pretty hard or fake. Now that I'm capable of thinking through the tone, writing, and overall themes of the narrative it feels impossible. For a while I felt like the broken, regretful Jedi Master archetype embodied by Obi-Wan, Yoda, and old Luke, was the only type of Jedi I could play.

Now I tend to play a rebellious, obnoxious teenager who "grows up" as he reexamines his choices. My conclusion is that I made the right choice in fighting in the wars, but wrong to take on Revan's "ends justifies the means" mentality in fighting it. Because of this, I tend to feel like I can't really reconcile philosophical differences with the Masters, but I can reconcile with them personally. I also train my companions so they're like what a Jedi "should" be - loyal to the Force, not tradition. So I end like Qui-Gon.

I have a REALLY hard time playing a dark sider in KOTOR II in particular since I take the game so seriously and the game is much more serious than other RPGs, so I genuinely feel like an asshole when I do.

What archetype do you play as? How would you describe the internal journey of your character? What do you make of the choices you made as a Jedi?

Would Jedi Revan and the Exile be able to lead a revolution to overthrow the OT Empire?

Revan and the Exile from the Mandalorian Wars era when Revan tells the Council to get spaced and decides to become a galactic savior.

In this scenario, both of them survived the Jedi purge and have found their way to Jimmy Smits right after Revenge of the Sith. Can Revan rally the Rebels to overthrow Palpatine? Would he? If so, how? Does the Exile make a difference here?

Edit: Revan and the Exile don't kill Palpatine as that is Vader's destiny. This is asking if they can destroy his empire.

As said, we know he's one of the all-time greats. Not a question. With reference to his vastly underrated power, in Canon we have a recent comic that puts Qui-Gon's skill above Phantom Menace era Mace based off both of their performances against the gangster Chulok.

In this comic, during Qui-Gon's fight against Chulok:

  • Qui Gon's attention is split between Chulok & his men who are observing
  • Qui Gon came a split second from destroying Chulok's weapon if not for a last minute distraction from a thug, which in itself implies the observers thought the advantage was shifting to Jinn to intervene against Chulok's order
    • "In the next moment he might have severed the connecting chain between the staff segments, just - then once of Chulok's lackeys struck, distracting him for a key moment, and Chulok kicked, wounding him.

By contrast, during Mace's fight with Chulok:

  • Mace enters a super focused state where he is able to step outside of his body and watch himself fight. In this state, he is drawing on all the training he's received from all Jedi
  • Even in this focused state, he is still inferior to Chulok. He realizes that Chulok is above his level in terms of combat.
    • "Mace knew this paired warrior being was above his level"

In the films, Qui-Gon puts up an observably excellent fight against Maul in the Tatooine desert despite being exhausted from having been running through it, and he also puts up an excellent fight against Maul on Naboo, slapping him down several stories. Qui-Gon fought him for a while on his own, while being lured into the generator room that Maul had the pre-planned advantage of knowing and strategizing about, which dampened his style.

And in legends:

Jinn was generally regarded as one of the best pure swordsmen the Order had ever seen.

Source: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

In his journal, Maul says regarding his fight with Qui-Gon on Tatooine:

But he is graceful, this Jedi. The sand doesn't see to hamper him. He is never off balance, no matter where or how I strike.

Source: Episode I Journal: Darth Maul

Maul suggests he is in real danger against him:

If an opponent can read you, the fight is over. I don't like that the Jedi was perfectly prepared for my first blow. Within seconds, I throw away my usual combinations and strategies. This Jedi seems to know how I will move before I do.

Source: Episode I Journal: Darth Maul

This is in the context of Qui-Gon already being tired from having been running through the desert, which young Anakin complained about being tired from.

All in all, I believe Qui-Gon can clearly defeat most high level threats, up to and including Ventress, and Savage, and even Maul on a good day. Thoughts?

Sidious is significantly more powerful than Dooku in the Force which under any circumstances would grant him a mid dif, at most, win. So now, let's make things interesting. Sidious's power is capped at Dooku's level. How does this fight play out?

Sidious is massively more powerful than Dooku in the Force which under any circumstances would grant him a mid dif, at most, win. So now, let's make things interesting. Sidious is handicapped so that his power level is equal to Dooku's. This is going to "Force" him to rely quite a bit more on fencing than he normally would for the win.

Under these fencer-favoring circumstances, who gets the win?
