USCIS unpredictability is absurd.

Ive applied for physician J Conrad waiver, DOS sent FR last month and USCiS has been sleeping since then. The timelines I’ve seen for this specific approval are absurd: I know a friend who got the approval in 2 days. Yes 2 days. And there is a friend who has been waiting for 5 months and still no approval. Both are same state, same country of origin, not banned, same Conrads. I mean cmon, make it make some sense!

Main Vaapas Aunga - Solid 9/10

So heres my review. Im from Pakistan, had not seen a Bollywood film in many years. Im more of an old school Bollywood fan, recent stuff just wasnt it.
Anyway went to see MVP and im thoroughly moved by it. It had that old school Bollywood charm.

Spoilers so beware.

Lets start with cons:

- Runtime: its long, period. I know there is a trend for longer movies now for storytelling, like Dhurandhar was a million hours. However this movie could’ve been shorter, some stuff was extra (see below).

- Diljit storyline : his entire storyline with his girlfriend felt unnecessary tbh. Everytime they came I wanted to see more of the 1947 keenu jiya story. I know imtiaz ali has done old vs new comparisons in prior films, worked in love aaj kal 1, was terrible in love aaj kal 2, and it mildly works in this honestly. I was always more interested in the 1947 love story than current Diljit one. Also the girlfriend having this anglicized hindi was annoying and unnecessary lol. Why not just a normal hindi speaking girl living in Uk? Idk.

- comedy felt forced. Lets face it. Gone are the days when movies had to be everything funny, sad etc. Stick to the main theme. This movies main power was the sadness, nostalgia and a beautiful love story. Comedy was largely unneeded whenever it came, like diljits standups.

Pros:

- acting: cannot say how good the acting is here. From everyone! Vedang, sharvari were brilliant, so young and so talented, i hope they continue to choose good projects! But the star here is Naseer sir, he is an institution in himself. Phenomenal.

- music: you cannot go wrong with AR Rehman and Imtiaz combo. Each song is a grower. It may not hit you immediately but give it a second listen and you will fall in love with every song. My favorite is dariya and vo nahin (the qawwali part slaps)

- story: this is the main selling point of this movie. Love story caught in a turbulent unsure time. Nothing is dramatic, nothing is over the top. Everything is subtle, the sadness, loneliness, longing and memories. As it should be. Beautiful 10/10

This movie made me think of my nana who has passed away now. In his last few days he kept on remembering his village that he left in India during partition. Home is home, no amount of segregation, hatred or man made lines can make you forget home.

Overall this movie is a solid theater watch. Yes it will come on OTT eventually, yes people will watch it there, yes it will become a cult classic. But do yourself a favor, watch it in cinema, twice 😉

Uscis timing is a mess

My DOS FR came may 20 and now its june 16 almost a month and uscis is still pending. Some colleagues of mine got uscis approval in 4 days. Why on earth is there such variability in time? Ive asked ten different live agents everyone says its “in process”. Im slowly losing my mind.

Uscis delay?

Hello, my conrad physician waiver was approved by DOS and recommended to USCIS on may 22, it has been over three weeks since then with no updates or approval from uscis. How long does it take for uscis to review this? My waiver job starts in a few weeks.
