Help me get my AC blowing cool, how to enter the rabbit hole?

So as of right now, I know that neither rad fan turns on if I turn the AC on. If I pull the fuse in the cabin, or the car is running in the hot sun, only the smaller fan spins. I also don’t know if my condenser even actually works…..

So far, I’ve picked up a big fan, and a fan control module both from a really clean beetle at the junkyard….. have yet to install because it’s so ungodly hot where I live….

Black leather interior is not it when you have a broken window regulator and zero ac lmao

Sherwin Williams?

Gearing up for my first legit paint job. As in non rattle can paint job, and collecting as much knowledge as my thinker can hold. How’s Sherwin Williams as a place I can go in person, to acquire the paints and everything involved with the spraying?

Id absolutely prefer to be able to walk in to a store physically, and have someone potentially able to guide me down the right path. And there’s a Sherwin not far from me.

I live on the NE Ohio/NW Pennsylvania state line, so if anyone is from the area and could tell me about any “better” paint stores, I’m all ears

Anyone here able to vouch for this?

I am kinda digging this bumper/grille kit… I’m looking to replace the factory GLS bumper with something a lil more pretty, and the r32 style doesn’t tickle my fancy enough… this is kinda sick tho. Expensive

Anyone ever do a 2.0T TSI swap into an old GLS MK4?

I recently aquired a B6 Passat that has some minor title issues…. It’s a 2010 2.0T Komfort with the DSG (which I’ll admit, as an 02J fanatic, I thought I’d hate the DSG but it’s pretty fuckin sweet)

This TSI quick, and if I end up not being able to get the title, I’d totally entertain swapping the TSI into my Mk4, maybe even the DSG. Preferably I’d like to keep the 02J….

Is this something like the 2.5 swap that ppl used to do? Or is this just a pipe dream? I’d be going from 2.slow to 2.0T

Did a silly. Need advice

Just replaced my exhaust manifold (2.slo) and in the process, said screw jt, and deleted the secondary air injection system entirely, after the hose running from the airbox to the pump broke

Well, during the first start, I had forgotten about the new hole in the side of my airbox, and funny enough, had left a stray shop rag right next to the fuckin thing

Started it up, rag gets sucked in… no joke. If there wasn’t a screen after the MAF, I would’ve killed this engine

Took it for a lil drive and it Was running like shit, (obviously, there’s a rag choking the car) I get it home, dig into the airbox to find what I’ve done…. I extract the rag and it runs fine now. However, since the hole is above the actual filter itself, enough dirt was sucked into the intake that it’s actually visible. Throttle body activity still looks 👌🏼 👌🏼on live data tho

So my question…. How do I go about cleaning my entire top end? I have the hole jb welded so no more dirt gets sucked in. But if I can see it all over the butterfly valve in my TB, it’s surely made its way to a few piston rings right?

Oil looks clean still

Car audio guys!

Monsoon system. Door speakers. Is there a physical crossover somewhere in the door? I have two twelves on a monoblock, and both front door 6.5s on a separate two channel….

I’m considering picking up a 4 channel amp for the two front door, and two rear door 6.5s and running the tweeters completely separate off of the two channel amp…. I need that mid bass and I don’t wanna destroy my tweets if there’s no x-over.

Low pressure power steering line banjo bolt…. Can I RTV?

Dealt with a cascading nightmare of problems the other night…. Recently had exhaust work done, and a weld cracked, making my car ungodly loud….

Fixed that, but in the process, knicked the very rusty power steering return line. Causing a massive leak…. No problem, went to the junkyard, got a clean “new” line, go to install it with nothing but a ratchet…. The banjo bolt cross threads immediately… (and yes, I bought new crush washers)

I spend 2 hrs trying to thread it in and not knowing what else to do, said fuck it and drove it all the way in with an impact….

Now it has a slow drip, not huge but still enough to waste money on fluid frequently… I’m a stubborn broke piece of shit, so my question: can I just rtv all the crush washers and make a better seal? I know it’s not a huge deal to drop the rack, but it’s hot and miserable where I live and I’d rather be el cheapo

Ps, in the midst of all of this, I’ll admit, I got a tad frustrated, slammed my hood a little too hard, and broke my hood latch….

Mk5 2.5 air box question

Wrenching on my buddies 07 5 cyl this week and have to source an air box from the junkyard. Am I trippin, or is it literally built into the engine cover? I’m here just staring at this junked Wolfsburg lmao. That’s the German engineering I’m missing in my mk4

Anyone here know what size high/low beam lenses the aftermarket Spec D halos are? I wanna fit better rings into them that you can actually see during the day

The camera makes em look way better too btw …. This actually sucked to look at irl….

Installing a volume knob to a head unit that only has buttons?

So I have a few LOCs that came with these little bass knobs that hookup via 3.5mm jack. My though is, instead of running the speaker wires from the head unit to the speakers directly, I’ll run them from the head unit, into the loc, and run the loc into a door speaker amp with x-over set at high.

In my mind, the bass knob would become a volume knob for the door speakers right? Tell me why I’m wrong

Anyone else not give a singular shit about sharps?

Unless someone tosses one in a soaking vessel full of suds, and I can’t see them, send that shit my way. I just throw them on my silverware racks, and only have to remember they’re there for a minute.

I injure myself in much dumber ways on the daily, to be bothered by a knoife

Picked up my first Passat and my 2nd v-dub

This one is a hell of a lot more German than my Mk4 Golf…. Replacing the PCV and half of the bolts no longer thread into the stripped out valve cover threads

No biggie, I’ll just replace the valve cov…. Oh, the cam journals are built INTO the cover? Thats the kinda German engineering itch that my golf just couldn’t scratch ;))

And can someone for the love of god tell me how to disable these stupid American Daytime Running Lights without a vag? I hate em…. In the golf I could just bend the TFL pin in the switch. In this B6? No such pin

2010 Komfort. Physical DRL Delete?

Or do I absolutely need VCDS? In my Mk4 golf it was as simple as bending a pin, or buying an aftermarket switch, or both…. I’m guessing the “newer” wagons are not so simple?

If I can’t do it at the switch, is there a wire under the hood I can just snip? While still being able to flick the low beams on and off with the factory switch?

I hate DRLs. Dumb American nonsense, for dumb Americans.

Supposed to blink this fast?

Door lock and window switches never worked on my driver door, until yesterday, when everything magically fixed itself….

Striker plate was really loose and affecting the way my door hanged, so I snugged it down, and replaced the battery not long ago…. Now everything seems to work (for now)

Anyway, when I lock everything down, the lil red blinked on the door panel blinks pretty fast…. Normal? Or is my alarm still trying to go off? I do have the left most connector unplugged from the ccm still
