What ingredients don't mind living above the stove?

I moved into a new apartment, and there's no pantry so storage space is at a premium. There's a cupboard above the gas stove I use pretty often (I cook an average twice a week and make coffee in a moka pot every other day). It has the stove vent under it so a large pipe cuts through the middle, so pots or bowls are a no-go. I currently have salt, paprika, spicy paprika and my cooking oils (sunflower, olive, extra virgin olive and pumpkin seed that I have for some reason?) there and plan to have the Vegeta as soon as I buy some.

Are those safe to store above the stove? And what else won't be ruined by the heat that the vent can't remove? If region matters, I'm European and mostly follow Eastern European (and a little bit of Asian) cuisine.

Should I install a mod that cheats down the level requirement of a powerful and fun item?

I play Palworld, and a huge part of the game is getting around the massive map and its terrain. For this, a flying mount is near mandatory. (You can get by on ground mounts, but it's pretty difficult especially in the "flying islands" area.) You have a total of 5 pal slots on your team.

There's a wing item that's unlocked by the maximum level 80 that allows you to fly with your own power, freeing up the pal slot. It doesn't require endgame materials for fuel either (crude oil and pal metal) so if I got it crafted, I could keep it up. There's a mod that lowers its level requirement to 67, which is the exact level I'm at. This means I could start crafting and raising my "permanent" endgame roster and ditch Noctallion as my flier.

However, this definitely feels like cheating. (Not literal cheating, I play singleplayer and have no intention to enter any sort of competition, and mods are officially supported.) I play on a low xp modifier so I'm not getting to 80 anytime soon. Should I patiently wait to be rewarded with the item, or install the mod and get it right now? (Or after I kick Auri's and Panthalus's ass, if it requires World Tree materials.)

TLDR: There's a wing item unlocked at 80. I could install a mod to unlock it at 67. Should I do it or nah?

When reusing NPCs from earlier chapters, how do I buff them without redoing the entire stat sheet?

Due to how I've tweaked the game and choices players have made, Talis the White is now in Arauthator's lair, replacing Maccath who now is a pile of bones and a diary, RIP her. She has the White Dragon mask (the whole quest to the mummy dungeon being a fakeout just felt boring to me) which gives her a boost, but otherwise she's a chapter 7 NPC in a chapter 10 dungeon. I also plan to give Jamna Gleamsilver and Rath Modar bigger roles, and especially poor Jamna was statted out to be a match back when the PCs were level four.

How do I give them some love to make it clear they've also been level grinding behind the scenes and make them fit whatever chapter the PCs fight them in?

I just threw out the recycle trash and a whole bag of expired medicine at the apt I'm cleaning to move into.

I'm about to move in with my elderly grandfather and he never really cleans, so I have to deep clean the place with my mother's help. Important note: my disabled uncle, who was on a shitton of meds, died early this year.

While emptying some cabinets, my mother and I found a bunch of meds my uncle had taken, and she put it with a whole box of other expired/unused medicine. She told me to bring it to a pharmacy when I'm done, they allegedly have a basket just for depositing expired/unused medicine. There was also a bag of recycle, mostly dirty plastic.

The recycle bins (one for paper, one for plastic) are outside the building and they'd probably toss the plastic anyway, and I was exhausted, so I just waited for my mother to leave and tossed it in the garbage chute next to the elevator. (Without the basket. It's a good basket.) And by the time I was done cleaning, it was 8pm and I reckoned no pharmacy would be open. So into the garbage chute went the meds too. My grandfather wasn't paying attention anyways and what my mother doesn't know won't hurt her. I'm just tired of cleaning.

Why was Mimosa the only member of the Golden Dawn who wasn't [redacted]?

I've been rewatching the anime with a friend, and we're at the leadup to the Elf Reincarnation Arc. And it struck me that if I remember correctly, Mimosa was the only Golden Dawn member not to be an elf. Is that significant in any way? I don't remember William being aught but welcoming towards her, or displaying any resistance to her becoming a member. In all likelihood he even handpicked her. Why would he let one and only one non-elf into the squad?

Also makes me wonder why Luck wasn't invited to the GD, but in all honesty William probably thought he would've been more trouble than he was worth, and he would've been 100% correct. And Gauche was handpicked by Yami from jail rubble so he never got the opportunity to meet William.

[TOMT] [Fairytale Book] A story about a girl whose 7 brothers got turned into swans by their evil stepmother.

So the plot loosely goes: There was a girl, may or may not have been a princess. Her father married an evil witch (as one does in fairytales) and the witch wanted the pre-existing 7 boys and one girl gone. So she turned the boys into swans and messed with the girl's bath so her skin and hair turned darker. Only the family dog recognized her.

So then the girl got a quest: remain mute while weaving shirts from sleeping nettles and throw them at her brothers, and they'd be cured. At one point, the evil witch accused her of witchcraft and had her almost burnt at the stake. The girl didn't even get to finish the last shirt so the youngest brother had one swan wing, before she could finally speak and proclaim her innocence.

I thought the story was called the Swan Princess, but when I googled it I got a completely different story where the princess in question got transformed. So I'm stumped.

Is it polite to comment something to the tune of "please add tags to your story so people will read it"?

So far I've come across two absolute bangers of a fic that was criminally undertagged. Like no relationship tag, the character tag for the main character (the 5-6 major supporting characters were not tagged), and Werewolf AU. That's it. I found it because I filtered for that one character tag.

And it really bums me out, because there's so many great tropes in there (like blood poisoning, child soldiers, deprogramming etc) that people tag for and want to read fics of. Their hit count is fairly low because of that. I know tags are technically optional beyond archive warnings, but it's what the site centers around.

Would it be polite to comment to suggest adding more tags, even writing the ones I think apply?

"Crossover/Fusion month" prompts?

"X month" is one of my fav things in fandoms because it's essentially a giant pormpt list. From fandom specific ones like Febhyurary, Mayqote etc, to non specific ones like Kinktober, Whumpuary etc.

Is there one for crossovers and/or fusions specifically? I'm thinking about starting a FFXIV/The Owl House fusion (TOH characters play the critically acclaimed MMORPG in a human AU and start a static) and I'm thinking about exploring it in the format of a prompt list instead of a "traditional" plot. I don't really care what month is assigned, I'm not gonna do it in time anyway lol. I'm more or less looking for a big prompt list structured like the examples I've given.

Need ideas for bee-themed powers Willow and Hunter could have when borrowing Clover's magic

I'm making a Shugo Chara AU where characters can borrow power from their palisman and basically do a partial magical teen transformation (Character Change) that gives them minor abilities based on the palisman. Amity gains agility, grace and a claw attack, Gus can turn transparent and Hunter can highjump and slowfall, a lot like Amu's Ran/Amulet Heart Character Change.

Hunter (and later Luz) can also do a full transformation called Character Transformation, the former because he's partially made of palistrom wood and Luz gets a special blessing from the Titan in WaD. They can transform using their own palismen or others'. Since this fic is mostly Hunter-centric, I want him to transform with all the Hexsquad's palismen and at some point do an Amulet Fortune-esque transformation with all of them.

The thing is, I really can't decide what special powers he could get from Clover. My main two thoughts are poison generation and some kind of healing honey (not to the extent of Remake Honey from Amulet Clover, but close)? Any thoughts?

The hour long out of context video was deleted from Youtube... Desperate reach out if anyone has it downloaded

I'm talking about this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOTnT9ZQbG4&t=1091s

As you can see it was copyright struck, which is diabolical as I'm fairly sure stuff like this would be protected under parody or something. Disney be Disneying I guess.

Anyways, this used to be my comfort video, but foolishly I never downloaded it... I know it's a very slim chance, but does anyone happen to have it?

My first work, asking for some advice and feedback

I want to get into embroidery to occupy my hands during TRPG sessions and maybe make my own patches. This was my first project I made in maybe 2-3 hours (design in slide 4, trace in slide 3). I'm also embroidering with my left hand to let my right rest, but I don't think it's impacted me too much. I have a few questions and asking for general feedback:

  1. I used a pretty low quality material, literally a bedsheet that I have used for years before it was torn. How much does that impact the finished work, and the learning process?

  2. Any tips for tracing, particularly smaller items? You can see on slide 3 that especially the harp's strings ended up pretty wonky. I traced with pencil before putting the fabric on hoop, and I suspect from the distorted outline that the fabric was pulled a bit too taut.

  3. I chose 3 strands for this as it was considered "standard". For projects this size (as I want to make patches eventually), would you recommend smaller? The strings were literally like 4-5 stitches.

  4. As you can see, I struggled to make the stitches perfectly vertical. It occurred to me too late that I could use the weave of the fabric as a guide, but do you guys have any other tips for that? I fear I may strain my eyes too much tracking the weave, and/or have to start juggling the needle with a magnifying glass.

  5. For the strings and the "bulb" on top left where I started, I actually started in the middle and went left and right with decreasing stitches. Is that standard practice or is there a better way to stitch curved shapes?

  6. Any other general feedback or tips?

To those who want to do crafts with their offhand: embroidery it is!

I need to occupy my hands in TRPG sessions to be able to pay attention, so I decided to take up embroidery, but between my computer job, video gaming and fanfic writing hobby my right wrist needs all the rest it can get. So I decided to add a challenge and do it with my left hand. (I'm right-handed.)

And to my complete surprise, it was actually pretty easy! My right hand only holds the hoop and sometimes manages floss while pulling to avoid tangles. Since you're only ever stabbing the fabric one place at a time (compared to sewing, where you typically bring it in and out in the same "stab"), dexterity doesn't matter as much, and as long as the needle pierces in the right place, you can pretty much handle the needle any way you want. And since you can do "test pokes" when stabbing from the back, you get infinite retries.

Embroidery is pretty fun, you get to make art with thread and even make your own clothing patches and decorate your stuff!

To those who plan to use the global palbox on their 1.0 saves, what pals will you be porting over?

Initially I wanted to start a save from scratch as bringing a pal over from another save sounded like cheating. But I've decided to bring over a single pal for funsies; debating betweeb Foxparks and Herbil. Or a male Bellanoir, they're really pretty... or Selyne, also really pretty... etc etc.

To those who want to bring pals over, what's your plan? Just your whole crew copied over? A single ultra-powerful lategame pal like a legendary? Or an early game pal who you can use the partner skill of right away? A single pal with diamond passives to jumpstart breeding? Your main combat team? I'm excited to hear your ideas!

My great-aunt's last projects

My great-aunt passed two years ago and her son, my father's cousin, was gracious enough to rent her flat to me. He said anything I find in her rooms he hasn't put away is basically mine. I found this box of embroidery and sewing supplies, but didn't pay it much mind.

Recently I've started getting into embroidery myself and decided to properly pack away her projects and reuse her hoop (the piece with the circle-shaped wrinkling was still on it) and flosses. I know I don't have anywhere near the skill to finish them, so I'm not going to touch them. Just wanted to share because I think they're really beautiful pieces. I haven't ironed them in case it damages the embroidery.

Lesson learnt: wash your hands if you touched a mouse with it before offering to the snake. (CW blood)

Apparently my hand smelled more like a mouse than the actual mouse did...

After that she did find the mouse with a little difficulty and tucked in.

(The black spots are because she was burrowed before feeding.)

Should I go to singing class, dancing class or leave my Thursday evening free?

I have something going on 5 days of the week: Tuesday raid in FFXIV, Wednesday TRPG, Friday TRPG (sometimes, DM tends to cancel), Saturday TRPG, Sunday raid. This leaves Monday and Thursday free. Additionally, every single of my Sundays are a wash because I have two alternating semiweekly TRPG sessions during the day.

I've been eyeing this singing group class that runs on Wednesday and Thursday, and my parents are going to a dance class that happens on Thursday and Sunday. (They go to the Thursday class, so I'd be sharing with them.) Singing has been my beloved hobby since I was little, and I really enjoy dancing but do it rarely. Also could use the exercise. Thing is, that would leave me with a single free evening a week on Monday. My work isn't very intense so I still have plenty of free time, but I'm worried about burning out. What's yall's opinion?

TLDR: I have 2 free evening a week. Both a dance and a singing class runs on one of those. What should I do with that evening?

Should I strike while the iron is merely hot and not melting and shell out for a new pc now, or bank on an AI bubble collapse and wait?

I got my PC in 2020, built by a coworker of my father. It was pretty great if I say so myself. However, I just realized it's not holding up as much anymore. I've been playing mostly indies and pixel games until now so I haven't noticed, but I dusted off Palworld and noticed that I was probably lagging. FFXIV has also been lagging but I attributed it to internet woes. There's been a few games that I was curious about, but set aside because they were described to need cutting edge PCs (mostly Monster Hunter Wilds and FFXVI).

The change that triggers my question was seeing the Guild Wars 3 announcement and trailer, and yeah. My PC is not handling that.

I was talking about it a few weeks back with some PC geek friends and they helped me pick out parts for a potential new PC. And whew. I have a stable job and little expenses. I could afford it. I just... would rather not pay as much. Do you guys think I should hope Github copilot switching to metered billing will trigger an AI collapse that hopefully drives prices down, or just grab parts at current prices (sometimes used, with the help of my also people savvy friends) before they go even higher?

TLDR: I need a new computer to keep up with new games. Should I get it at current prices, or hope for prices going down and sit on my money?

How do I provide my corn exploration-based enrichment in a decidedly not snake-proof room?

My room is basically half storage with a bunch of boxed stuff against a wall, there's a gap between my bed and wall, and generally there's stuff everywhere. It belongs to my father's cousin who owns the house and shows little inclination to retrieving it anytime soon. Point is, if my corn manages to get out of my sight, she's as good as gone.

She's around a year, year and a half old, still a widdle baby but not a shoelace anymore, which does cut down on the number of crevices she can squeeze herself into thankfully.

I like to set her down on my desk while I work or chat, and if she tries to get off the desk, I lift her. I've also tried my bed, but she about immediately beelines for the edge and I have to lift her. Which causes her stress and she's already wary of my left hand. I usually handle her around midnight, which removes the nearby park as an option. Any advice for giving her enrichment while not constantly stressing her out? Preferably light on supplies, there's enough stuff in my room already.

Sometimes I bring her to the kitchen, but a similar issue applies: she hides behind bottles, bowls etc and I have to get her out eventually.

Is this a new type of bot comment?

The fic only has to do with traitors is that there's a few secret rebel characters. DoubleB has no meaning in the fandom. I'm not on Twitter or Tumblr so I don't think I'm involved in drama.

Honestly I'm considering leaving this up because it reminds me of the "leaving a watermelon on someone's doorstep is a pretty inexpensive way to forever occupy a portion of their mind" tumblr post. It looks nothing like previous types of bot comments.

Have you ever needed to change a minor detail in your fic that you tried to keep consistent across your account, but can't because the plot doesn't work otherwise?

So in canon there's some unclear "did X know about Y before Z event" elements, and I try so hard to keep them consistent between my fics that are fairly different AUs - some are canon divergence, some are straight up totally different tropes set in the same verse, like wingfic or omegaverse.

I'm currently writing a "what if the blorbo was stolen as a baby and raised by the good guys for a few years before getting re-stolen by the bad guys" AU and I just realized my comfort small detail (a mostly unrelated character knows what the baby's dad looked like) would completely ruin the fic, so I'll likely have to change it...

I'm just so unreasonably sad about this tiniest detail that I try to keep consistent in all my fics. Has this ever happened to you? Share your plotting woes!
